Since 1.8, my chests and signs flicker between light levels depending on which angle I look at them. Chests and signs in my hand also flicker, as does the hand itself. I have tried deleting the entire .minecraft folder and replaced the launcher, but the flickering persists in newly generated 1.2 maps.
Does anyone have a way to fix this? Videos on youtube only refer to a different flickering bug, and a different black chest bug. I've put up with it for a while, but the flickering chests get annoying, and I cannot read any signs unless I'm at a good angle. Every youtuber I watch has non-flickering chests, so there must be a way to fix it.
How do I install this with MCpatcher? I haven't used MCpatcher much but I understand that it only puts files in the .jar and this mod has folders that dont go there.
Try unzipping only the folders you need to place outside of the jar.
I saw one of these the other day. I mauled it with my Diamond Sword.
Seriously, I don't know why people are so scared about these and Endermen. They're so simple to bash with a sword (well, maybe not on SMP). Creepers and cave spiders are where the real trouble's at.
Personally, I find doing branch mining boring, but it is perfect for gathering cobble for building. The other resources? They're just extra rewards to what I'm actually trying to gather. It takes a lot of cobble just to build one tower, and I'll need a lot more of it for my next project, a castle. The coal is nice too, since I seem to be perpetually short of it (making clean stone and stone bricks require a tremendous amount of coal).
My only complaint about mountains is that there are absolutely none anywhere else. I love the new mountains, I just wish just one would pop up in the other biomes occasionally, instead of just "huge hills!" in an enclosed area, and "flat" for the rest.
I played about 30 minutes, and I have to say, this server is awesome. Great builders and towns (yet still Survival), and a nice community. I haven't played SMP in awhile, but I'm probably gonna stick around. I don't find servers like these often. And, unlike the last server of this quality I played on, which was based in Europe, Republica is based in California, so there's probably going to be people to be on when I am (as opposed to being the only person on in a 50 person server). Terrific!

Referred? By whom?: I found this on the forums, nothing more.
Reason for joining: I'm trying to restart my SMP gaming after quitting MC entirely for awhile. Towns have always been the thing I liked, though I also play survival as well.
What you do best in minecraft: I'm first and foremost an explorer. I like exploring caves, spelunking, that sort of thing. I have also designed a few redstone machines, all of them piston-related.
Favorite Movie: Inception

Past Servers: I've been on two, but they were long enough ago that I don't remember their names.
Why Do You Want To Play Here: I want to try to play a mixture of RP and survival. I also want to try to restart my SMP playing after playing SSP awhile and getting bored. I'll play as much as I can (which isn't as much as it used to be) and am willing to help on others' projects. I have some knowledge of redstone! I can't build you a computer, but I can make things like piston doors or minecart stations.

I'm personally of the opinion that it could decay a little faster, but then again I rarely sprint so that may be the issue. However, I don't like how just simply having it full gives you passive regen. There should be no reason, unless you're just starting the world, that the bar should ever be more than 3 empty. The passive regen is so strong, it is almost impossible to die to anything short of a huge number of mobs, creeper insta-gib, or cave spider poison. The scratches you used to take from skele arrows or zombie attacks just simply disappear in 15 seconds when that bar is full. It's too powerful, and I wish they instead implemented something where you have to both eat to heal your health AND your hunger. (IE the pork chop heals 4 hearts like before, and also 4 hunger points.)
Don't get me wrong, I like that they implemented hunger. I just wish it wasn't so easy to keep your health topped off once you have a continuous food supply.

What can you do to inprove this server?: I am a mature person who knows how to follow and give instructions.

And there are youtube vids if you really can't trust the wiki that much.
