Also an update to everyone - i will most likewly get a normal desktop for the same price after hearing touchscreens are made with laptop parts and have terrible cooling and others saying i should get a normal desktop (old post and post from dif site) . would this be smart considering at the time i do not have the time/resources/parents willing enough to get parts to build at this time, but in few years i can build one

Also a side note: yay todays my birthday. turning 15 lol

the 500 dollar touchscreen would prolly be good for applications like word and whatnot. gaming..... not so much. here is the reason why.

    1. integrated graphics.

    2. the specs. although helpful. but the specs you gave pretty much mean nothing. you could list a harddrive as 4 tb but when its listed as only that. chances are its of so low speed that no wonder the company didn't list the actual speed. same can be said for the ram. it could be listed as the full 16 gb of ram but when its 1333mhz., thats crap. and chances are, it prolly is.

there could be more listed but there is no point.

honestly. i dont see why people only want 300 - 800 dollar shelf bought systems. they are of such poor quality and performance. also. they, as in people who know nothing about computers, expect above and beyond things from these so called computers from the shelf at the price point everyone seems to want. ie, the 300 - 800 dollar range.

minecraft is the 1 of the few exceptions where you dont need a 1k dollar pc but pretty much anything you see today with integrated anything will not give you 60fps. and frankly, 60fps is almost the standard these days.

my advice to you young man.... build a system for 600. i know. i know. you dont have to say it. " i dont know how to build 1."

here is my rebuttal on that common statement. in all fairness. building a pc is almost like changing a battery in a car. the plugs and wires alll look somewhat similar. almost like the pos/neg wires on a battery. its really that simple. i cant really come up with an analogy as simple as that. infact. its simpler than a car battery hookup. the plugs and wires for a pc only go 1 way. you cant mess it up......

but if you had to choose from the 300 laptop or the 500 touchscreen. honestly, get the laptop cuz. A. they are both going to perform like crap for minecraft. and B. they both are very very limited on upgradeability. the desktop may be able to accept a couple things but it would still be hard. them touch screen pc's are still hard to upgrade cuz they put every part and literally strap it to the screen thus making it almost useless to upgrade. atleast with the laptop u would save 200 bucks compared to wasting 500 on an almost non upgradeable touchscreen pc.

    my 2 cents.

what about a 300 laptop or a 500 normal desktop?

From the sounds of it, a touch screen desktop is really targeted at the family PC market and won't give you the gaming performance you want (if any at all).

As everyone will say, build your own if you can, this is certainly possible on a budget of around $600. If you can find a screen and keyboard/mouse from the trash/thrift store you can save a chunk of money too and put this back into the pc and get higher spec'd parts.

to you and everyone who sayts build your own- i get that , and i actually want to, but my parents dont want to mess around with ordering parts online right now, but in the future when i have a job they will let me /. ill just buy parts myself. so from the sounds of it Id be better off getting a normal desktop instead right? on the previous post someone said that most 500 dollar desktops can get you around 60 fps - i myself am fine with that. as long as the fps is playable (as in a minimum of 25) im fine

ok, so my previous post is bugged, the reply box and other parts of the page are randomly scattered and put in the middle blocking my view of some replies

ok, so some of you may remeber my old scenario where i was stuck between choosing 2 cruddy 300 dollar laptops..well that ship has sailed, after telling my parents that they sucked, they said if i wait a few months, i can get a 528 dollar touchscreen desktop that also has keyboard and mouse support .

    here are the specs

      • AMD A6-5200 Quad-Core processor
      • 2.0GHz, 2MB L2 Cache

      • 6GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 16GB)
      • Gives you the power to handle most power-hungry applications and tons of multimedia work

      • 1TB SATA hard drive
      • Store 666,000 photos, 285,000 songs or 526 hours of HD video and more

      • Slim-tray SuperMulti DVD Burner
      • Watch movies and read and write CDs and DVDs in multiple formats

      • 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN
      • Connect to a broadband modem with wired Ethernet or wirelessly connect to a WiFi signal or hotspot with the 802.11b/g/n connection built into your PC

    • 23" touch-enabled IPS widescreen WLED-backlit display
    • Integrated AMD HD 8400 Graphics

my question is, can this run minecraft , and if it can, what fps can i expect?. also would i be better off with a normal desktop for the same price or this? keep in mind this will be used for school work and minecraft both at home

like a person above said, finite worlds wont help lag at all. look at the xbox and ps3 edition - 856x856 playable area worlds . if you get 8 people in there, itll lag like no tomorrow , albeit the consoles have poor hardware, but people have modded it to have infinite worlds and there was no lag difference
