    DxDiag log: http://pastebin.com/8Ahxdb8s

Also noticed this (below). Could be related but I've had the game crashing issue both before and after reinstalling minecraft and I certainly had the Ghast fireball sound before the reinstall.

[21:59:46] [Sound Library Loader/INFO]: Starting up SoundSystem...
[21:59:46] [Client thread/WARN]: File minecraft:sounds/mob/ghast/fireball.ogg does not exist, cannot add it to event minecraft:item.fireCharge.use

posted a message on 1.8 instant nether crash
Half a second after loading the Nether on a friend's SMP server will cause the game to instantly close and because of this the server is basically unplayable for me. The Nether in my single player won't instantly crash my game just from going through the portal.

Updated java and reinstalled minecraft with no success. Here's one of the crash reports:

Update: Fixed it myself. For the benefit of anyone else with this issue: My java wasn't updated despite me downloading it only to have it incessantly nag me the following day. Basically updating java doesn't work. Uninstall all traces of java then go here and download your appropriate version.

    tl;dr: f**k java.

It still uses a clock once the piston can't push any more.

which is truly a 'clockless smart generator' is by PearSquirrel. It OR's every cobble space.

"reversible signal generator" commonly known as an "ABBA" if you have 2 outputs.

There's also making a falling water blade and at the bottom have a BUD.

However it'd be slower transmission than the detector rail design, which btw seiterarch it does still work if you built it right. It can break if someone doesn't use it right, make sure the input gets limited to 2 ticks.

    What about a dispenser clock

4 of these, and it will loop for 576 mc days before having to refill dispensers or reset the map.

^ Actually I got that clear as mud. I suppose it would be possible to make it 3 wide except it would need to get much longer or taller to compensate, then it's down to the preferences of anybody building it in their world.

The 1x1 design utilises a bug with rail movement. There's no telling when they'll change some code here or there and inadvertently break it. Works fine now but be aware of every new patch.

Nice simple design. Although sadly repeater lock designs still fall short compared to binary counters in my opinion. They can be smaller and more flexible in their use. I have a design that's a little smaller than OP's design if anybody would like to see some images of it.

No disrespect to you OP, you did well with repeater locks but I doubt Cubehamster is going to receive a submission that uses repeater locks that is more compact than anything other method. Someone even made a 12 long, 4 high, 1 wide "LCM" (lowest common multiple) design.
