As unfamiliar territory and a dark, looming presence threaten to consume the last snatches of light, you see others rise up to stand with you on the precipice of adventure. The reassurance of these familiar strangers is compounded by the vague feeling of thousands having come before; this world is rife with stories of the outcasts who sought to etch out their mark, stories that you hope to find answers from. Now, as you take the first step of thousands on the journey to come, your own tale - and the tales of those who stand with you - begins now.
Welcome to Outcast Tales RP!
Outcast Tales RP is a new roleplay server with some experienced faces behind it. Many of our players and staff have been active roleplayers, storytellers and dungeonmasters for many years, so we know what it takes to tell a good story. We don't see ourselves as a Minecraft roleplay server, we see ourselves as a roleplay community using Minecraft as a tool for worldbuilding, and to enhance the storytelling experience.
Our goal is to create an open-ended experience for players to explore their characters in the context of unique environments and an overarching story. Each world has its own unique tale, with events that unfold based on players' actions, but more important than the story of the world is the story of the individual players. Each decision you make impacts others, and unlike some other worlds, no one person is the protagonist or the savior of the land; each person's actions have the possibility to change fate itself. If you want to become a humble farmer providing for the town, you can do that. If you want to become a pioneer, exporing the deep recesses of an unfamiliar world, you can do that! If you want to become an economic mogul who establishes the first merchant's guild of the world...you can do that!
And when we say "you can do that", we don't simply mean that you can go dig in the dirt like you're playing survival Minecraft. No, we have a group of Storytellers - akin to dungeonmasters in DnD, if you will - who will help you achieve your goals, throw unique challenges your way, and otherwise keep your character's story unique and interesting! If you want to build a logging camp, start a necromancer's cult, or found a new city, an ST can help you achieve your goals...provided you're willing to put in the work, that is! Every effort you make will be rewarded appropriately; all you need to do is ask an ST.
If all this sounds like your idea of a good time, then come check us out at https://www.outcasttalesrp.com.

I really like the progression through ranks. Totally optional, but really cool with some nice side perks if you want to work for them!

The first good Survival-oriented server I've found that is still active and has a friendly community. Amazing staff, very helpful, and retains the same Minecraft feel that existed on servers back in 2012. Not completely vanilla, but close enough to be nostalgic. Love it!

I have seen Zombie Awareness, but this doesn't seem to do much for the intelligence of monsters, only their ways of finding the player.

I don't know if this idea will even make much sense on paper, and I certainly have no idea if there is a mod out there that is even remotely similar to what I'm suggesting - besides Invasion mod, which I do enjoy currently. What I'm looking for is a mod that increases the number or difficulty of monster spawns based upon structures that you build. For example, if you are having an easy time picking off monsters around your base and want a bit more challenge, you construct some sort of totem that causes an increase in monster spawns near you. Preferably, the mod would have either no cap or an adjustable cap, since my computer is beefy enough to handle a decent number of monsters.
Alternatively, I'd be curious to see if there is a mod that adjusts the way monsters "think" - i.e. tweaking their AI to be smarter. Yes, I know about Special Mobs/Special AI, but that really doesn't seem to do very much. I'm thinking more along the lines of Hordecraft, where the zombies travel in large packs and the skeletons line up in firing lines.
Curious to see what's out there, but whenever I search I seem to turn up the same few mods: Special Mobs, Special AI, Invasion Mod, Hordecraft and one or two others that I can't seem to find anymore.

I'm looking to see what mods are out there that modify the way that monsters work. Specifically, I'm looking for a mod that makes monsters smarter. Here are a few of the things I'm looking for.
- Monster hordes
- Monsters break blocks
- Monsters pathfind from a long distance
- Monsters have more health
- Monsters deal more damage
- Monsters are faster
- Monsters are just generally smarter(back away when low on HP, smarter attacks, dodging, etc.)
Obviously no one mod would have all this, but I'm curious to see what mods exist that do at least a few of these things, or something similar.

Does anyone know of a Forge mod that does approximately the same thing as the Bukkit plugin MobManager(http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/mobmanager/)?
What I'm mainly looking for is the ability to define a region of the map that certain customized mobs will spawn in; I want them to only spawn in that region, and they have to have certain items, potion effects, custom drops, etc.

Skype: I don't use Skype unless it's absolutely necessary because of its many security flaws and high CPU usage. I use Mumble/TeamSpeak instead.
That said, if you just need it to contact me for an "interview" or for a quick question, it's comp52jea.
Country you're from: USA
How often will you play a week: Whenever I have spare time. Probably at least 5 hrs/wk.
Age: I prefer not to publish such info on a public forum. If you really need to know, I can PM it to you.
Are you a good builder: That depends on what I'm building! But seriously, I am a decent builder.
Have you ever played a UHC match before: Yes, many times.
How many servers have you been on previously and why: A lot. And I do mean a lot. Mostly because I never seem to find one that's any good.
Minecraft skill: Medium-High. I've been playing since 1.3.
I do have one suggestion. I take it from your question regarding Skype that you often get together and talk with each other. That's great, but rather than using Skype, I would recommend using Mumble. It's more secure, has low latency, integrates well with Minecraft, and uses much less CPU power than Skype does.
It's very easy to get a free Mumble channel, too. Just one of many free hosting sites can be found here. This site offers free Mumble with no strings attached for as long as you need it. As long as the owner logs in every week or two to "recharge" the usage meter, it will not get deleted. It has a max of 50 players, but I doubt that would be a problem.
Dec 16, 2014Numilani posted a message on How do I connect to MinecraftClassic server running on LAN?Posted in: Discussion
Those instructions only apply if you want to host a regular Minecraft LAN world. Videogamer is trying to host a Classic game(i.e. the free version that existed before MC was sold).
Unfortunately, I don't have any insight as to how to set this up, but I thought I'd at least help clarify the question for others.

I like your idea for the minecarts with dispensers, and your idea for a thirst mechanic would be nice as an optional feature for Hardcore worlds, but the rest of the ideas are either too OP, wouldn't be practical to implement, or would just change the game too much.
Sep 2, 2014Mojang stated that name changes would not be available until at least a few months after the release of 1.8, since they want most of the community to have switched over completely to 1.8 before adding the feature.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots

Jun 3, 2016Numilani posted a message on Mojang's Commercial Use Guidelines Updated (For Businesses, Mainly)Posted in: News
Quite frankly, this is not enforceable. There is absolutely no way for Mojang to tell the difference between a fan creation and a company-sponsored build without investigation of each individual build, the people who built it, and the motivation behind their project.
I'm not even quite sure how Mojang thinks they have the right to limit what a paid user does within Minecraft. That would be like a construction company saying to their client, "Hey, we just sold you all this construction equiment and materials to build with, but you're not allowed to use these materials to build a certain type of structure" or "You're not allowed to build a structure if your motives for building the structure are wrong." That sort of action would be considered ludicrous and would never hold up in court.
Likewise, if Mojang sees a structure serving as a paid advertisement in their game, what are they going to do about it? Take each individual to court? Take the server(if it is a server) to court? I doubt it. They could ban the player, sure, but another account could be made and that only punishes one side of a two-sided business deal. The company still has their ad up. If they want to take down the server, they probably could, but it would likely just pop up somewhere else.
Regardless of the enforcability, this is an outrageous claim by Mojang that they think they have the right to say "Players can build THIS but not THAT" or "Players can build this, but only for THIS reason, not THAT reason."
TL;DR - Mojang is saber-rattling, can't enforce their rule, and has no right to even make such a claim.

Actually no. Version numbering doesn't have to follow math rules; 1.10 is 1.10 for the same reason that it isn't 2.0.
Some programmers just want to watch the world 6275726e.

Not to diminish the epicness of this build - and it is very epic - but it would be remiss to not mention MC-MiddleEarth, the server that has a build team dedicated to recreating the entire world of Middle-Earth, not just The Shire. The server is absolutely outstanding. I would love to see the ArdaCraft team join forces with these excellent builders. Just imagine the possibilities!
Jun 17, 2014Very disappointed with how both sides have handled the issue. Mojang has responded in a way that is causing the server community to turn against them, and the rest of the community has responded in a way that makes the server owners look very bad. My server is going live in less than two weeks, and has been in progress for over 18 months. With this new EULA going into place, the server is very likely to suffer and potentially fail because of the lack of viable player perks. I do understand that Mojang is very upset about what's been going on, but it certainly doesn't seem right that because "A few bad eggs" are doing insane things, that the "good eggs", such as myself and other servers like Hypixel, Shotbow, TheHive and countless others should get punished for that.Posted in: News
