posted a message on New Update Erased My Content
    Quote from theBIGpitPEI»

Wow, you're a jerk UpUp_Away95. Do you know that?

    1. I was in the process of updating Minecraft and my Xbox360 today because I do not keep my xbox constantly connected to the internet. My console was an "arcade edition" which is the cheaper option and doesn't include WIFI internet connections, so I only drag the long cord across the room on rare occasions to connect to Xbox Live and update. I was actually updating so I could have the option to upload my Minecraft maps to the cloud to back them up. It's sickeningly ironic that my map was deleted in the process. I'll also note that xbox live's update took 4 LONG tries to update successfully. An hour wait to get a "download error, cannot Update" message three times in a row before the final update took. I'm guessing this is why I no longer have my map.

    2. I do not go on these forums because I have no need to. I had a reason to today. Sorry I wasn't your internet forum friend first before Microsoft erased a massive amount of my work.

    3. I don't know why I'm one of a few cases of this happening - that's what I was trying to figure out. The internet has many reports of this happening and none have happy endings. If you're doubting what I've told you about my experience today, go shove it where the sun doesn't shine. I created an incredibly detailed world and took pictures of it over months of building - all I have left are those images now.

    4. I am done with Minecraft. I cannot play a game where I put that much time and effort into it if there is even a slight chance that it will randomly be replaced by a new map.

    5. I'm done with Microsoft. Sorry to be so blunt and bitter, but I feel like I'm lost a limb here for no reason at all. My next computer will be a Mac, my next console will be a Playstation. They've lost my trust and so they lost my business.

    6. I was not aware that games could be copied onto other drives until today. I don't roam messageboards - I just played and learned it as I went... I wasn't even aware what "Creative Mode" was until several months into playing. The map was a daily escape for me. Now, it's all gone. Forever. Because I wanted to make sure I never lost the map and wanted to have the option to save it in the cloud. ...and apparently it's my fault for not taking an interest in the messageboard?

If you really understood my frustration, you would've showed an ounce of apathy. Instead you kicked me when I'm down. Thanks for that. So glad I didn't sign up for this forum earlier.

Here's a picture from my beautiful dead city. What a waste.

Woah dude, this isn't a site to start ranting about how terrible people (who are just trying to help you) are. You can't just treat them like there some kind of annoying bug (no pun intended ;0). You can't be one sided and think "He totally has the power to fix everything", in reality most of us can't do anything. Microsoft has strict rules on how you take steps to fix a problem, and if you really don't understand this, go look it up then. I'm not trying to be a jerk here and put you down. Really the only reason anyone helps here with people is to give suggestions and guide you to better help.

posted a message on How multiplayer lag could be reduced in the future

Connection lag on MC xbox 360 is a major issue. It seems even with a great connection (15 megs), there are still mutiple lag spickes and long periods of lag in your game. Now first, I should note that there are some obvious things that cause the lag:

    1. The hosts connection speed is slow (apx. 7.5 or less megs)
    2. Redstone updates (ex. pistons moving)
    3. Connection traffic with xbox

There are many other various things that cause lag, those are 3 common issues. By this point, you should know what the following are: client, host/server, network/connection, and lag are (look them up if you don't).

Now the game (client/server) forces all block/entity updates to send data over the network and back to the server/client. That's where a lot of inefficiencies come in to play. First off, a lot of these updates are random (ex. the movement of a cow). Instead of having to send these random updates constantly, we could generate a seed/string of numbers and letters that would be sent over the network and processed by the client. So if these "seeds" were sent every 10 - 30 seconds and if all game mechanics (that were random) were powered by this seed, lag could be reduced majorly.

Another inefficiency is caused by the player and player interaction (ex. blocks being mined, entities being summoned). First off we know that three main things are needed to load a player's appearance (not including skin): position, rotation, and what he/she is holding. But what if that player moves up against a cow. The cow's position now has to be updated too. Instead, we only have to send that player's position over the network, so that the client/server can tell that that player's position is right close up to that cow, thus moving that cow accordingly. Summing it up, both the client and server would process a player's movement/intereaction and update a game mechanic accordingly.

Have any questions comments suggestions on my idea, feel free to post! I really didn't expect this to get far. Also feel free to add on to the idea as much as you wish. THX!!!

posted a message on How often is your connection lagging on multiplayer?
How often does your connection lag on a multiplayer server (if your either the host or not)? Choose one of each option for the "Laginess" for each question. Options will have fractions (e.x. "10/10", "5/10") with enclosing parenthesis. These represent the amount of laggy connections out of the total amount of servers you've experienced.

posted a message on Ask me anything on the "air" block
    Intro

Face it people, there is little known on air to most people. If you brought up the conversation: "What really is air?", and the simple answer would be "nothing". But your not quite right. Air is definitely more than nothing. Hopefully this thread will be a way to find out more on this interesting topic.

    Basic Understanding

Now before you guys ask away, you should know the basics for this block. Open up the spoilers to see the specific properties of air. For now I suggest ignore the NBT Tags spoiler.

    Basic info

Air is a block in Minecraft used to represent unoccupied spaces. Air, like any non-solid blocks, are spaces the player and other mobs are allowed to move within without suffocating.

    Generation + Interaction

Most generated structures generate air. Air is also generated in any space not occupied by another block.

Air cannot be kept in the inventory and can only be destroyed or created by the placement or removal of other blocks respectively.

    Data Tags

(X, Y, Z) - represents the 3d coordinates for where the block is located

(TileName) - The block that you are placing (read only for air)

NOTE - All descriptions were quoted from the Minecraft Wiki article, titled "air" .

    Posting a Question

Before you start asking away, there are rules you should remember with your questions and descriptions. Please read this section before you start asking.

    RULES
-Respect this thread, any posts to this thread, and other people

-Do not ask any questions that were answered in my basic description above

-Make sure to first check the wiki page for answers before posting anything

-Do not give false info if you are answering others posts Cite your sources (check your answers on the wiki page)

If you have any questions on the rules for this thread, please message me instead of posting here.

posted a message on What is the most worthless item in Minecraft?

Without air, there would be *shudders* GRAVITY!

I would say netherrack. This does add to the atmosphere of the nether but otherwise, WHO USES IT?

Especially for fire places, there the only material that let's fire burn forever.

posted a message on In - game Lag Detector/Meter

So I've been experimenting with some ways for reducing lag on servers, but the problem is there are no good ways to measure the lag. Yes, you could have a person sitting there watching some kind of clock in - game, and compare that to real time. But I want to know if there are better ways of doing this.

To better visualize this, let's say we have a repeater clock. The clock pulses a current every second. Then we'll add some lag; not FPS/client side lag, but server lag. Now the thing is, all we'd have to do to measure that lag is take the current and store some how. Then measure how many we get, in let's say 10 seconds. The problem is, we can't even time that 10 seconds, because no matter how accurate we measure the pulses in 10 seconds in - game, those 10 seconds will always be proportionally longer to how much the clock is being lagged up. Since server - side lag affects all game mechanics, it should'nt work. Right?

I'm here to kinda prove a point, but also want you guys to come up a solution too my problem. If there is no solution, then add one to my explanation and prove your point!

Well since you've been blabbering all about how you have achieved all that can be achieved, think again!

Well I do like really specific challenges...

First, you must enter the nether. Find a wither skeleton, but don't damage it yet! You must some how collect it's head, but without damaging it! Then use it for the wither!!!
