Till bukkit updates to 1.0 it's going to be hard to find a popular server with anti-grief protocol. Just try applying for a server with a whitelist or play with a friend, that's the only advice that can be given at the moment aside from downgrading to 1.8 and playing on one of those.
And yes, Minecraft will run just fine on that thing. Not only does it have a decently calibrated Intel i5, but your GPU benches a bit over average in every area and can keep par with a desktop ATI Radeon HD 5450. So long as you can keep the heat down then you'll be just fine.
If you don't already have a cooling pad, I can personally suggest this laptop cooling pad. It's really inexpensive and is the best working one I've ever used. Dropped my CPU's averaged gaming temperature by 50 degrees!
I'm an operator of a server I help manage. Roughly 30 minutes ago I was on the server alone, building a secret structure for people to find while playing. While I was building I heard a noise. It sounded like someone mining stone and then the occasional "Pop" of a block breaking. Now, this is a bit odd. I was alone. I even checked the console to make sure. Also, I was using world edit, so it wasn't any way it was me making the sounds.
Does anyone know if there is a sound file that is making this noise or know of another reason why I could be hearing it?
Note: My server has no herobrine/npc/creature mods .______.
This is extremely off-topic but to let you know, people dont have to reply to a topic they don't want to, so if you get no replies after a quarter of an hour, don't whinge. Just wait.
I've modded my STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl game many times and have even made a few of my own texture mods. If this is your first time modding the game then I HIGHLY suggest you get SmartModManager. 99% of all the properly made mods utilized this tool and it will make installing mods a snap.
In a nutshell, it will move files around for you and allow you to easily select which ones you want to use. Directions for it's use can be found in most any mod and I believe the software comes packaged with some basic directions, too. If there is ever a conflict (Two or more mods change the same thing) then it will allow you to choose which one is actually implemented ("takes priority")
Do know that before you can mod STALKER you will need the latest patch. If your game did not come pre-patched then all patches can be found on the official STALKER website for free. Just goto http://www.stalker-game.com/ and click on the image that represents your game then download the latest patch. Again, this is VERY important and most mods will not work unless you do this.
If there is any more questions you have then feel free to ask and I'll help the best way I can. Also, If you have Shadow of Chernobyl then here are 2 mods I made for it :3
Oh, if you somehow manage to delete your System32 folder then your computer will never work again. So, yeah, don't even try to do that. I think both Vista and Windows 7 will prevent you from doing it, but I would not chance it at all. I don't care if you've got the most powerful PC in the world, removing that directory will destroy your operating system and make your computer useless till you re-install it.
Suggesting that someone who doesn't know much about computers do such a thing is just horrible. Doirdyn, if you were serious about that then you should be ashamed :sad.gif:
EDIT
forced update, works fine. I guess I overreacted to the symbol changing..... Thanks guys!
You may have to delete everything - the entire .minecraft folder and minecraft.exe....
This person has absolutely no idea what they're talking about. No, do NOT do this. You'll loose all your saves. Besides, deleting the the Minecraft.exe would make no sense at all. *facepalm*
If mincraft is not working properly then fixing the issue is very easy :smile.gif: All you have to do is delete the bin folder. (...\Appdata\Roaming\.Minecraft\bin). If you have anything of your own stored in there then remove it first so you don't delete it, but that's all. After deleting it just fire up Minecraft and it will repair any damaged/missing files. It's that easy and the only thing you'll have to do is re-install your mods :3 It will be like nothing happened :biggrin.gif:
As for everything having notepad as the Notepad logo, that's your operating system just putting an icon on it because it think notepad is the right program to edit them with. The only thing this will do is if you double-click one it will open it in notepad. Unless you know how to code java you'll never have to edit a .class file, so don't worry about it :3

Btw, it's not a good idea to create 2 threads with the same exact contents.
