Finally, an update! The first playable version will feature the first dungeon as well as a sidequest and some achievements. Sneak peeks have been added to the original post at the top of the thread. Enjoy!
STM - Save the Midgets is an upcoming Minecraft adventure map. The focus of the map is exploration, adventure, and an epic storyline quest. STM aims to parody the recent trend of CTM (Complete the Monument) adventure maps by replacing the wool with "midgets", which are basically also wool. This map will be adventure mode, meaning that fans of CTM's hardcore survival gameplay will be put outside of their comfort zone, which is good.
STM is a story about a heroic adventurer who has conquered many vicious foes and completed devious challenges (actual playing of other adventure maps not required) and is now tasked with an odd job by a mysterious character: save midgets. So naturally your heroic avatar character goes out to save the midgets, but not without some platforming, adventure, exploration, achievements, easter eggs, references, puzzles, redstone, cake, and walking. Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of walking. Lots.
The purpose of this thread is currently to track my progress throughout the construction and development of the STM adventure map. The map's quirky nature and off-color humor render it rather crude compared to "state-of-the-art" maps by Sethbling or Hypixel, but part of its charm is that it flaunts this peculiar style with no regrets. If you're looking for some very casual Minecrafting, you can expect hours of fun out of Save the Midgets.
My goals for this project:
Provide 5+ hours of gameplay.
Create 20 levels of adventure.
Release a proof of concept before polishing.
Track progress accurately through screenshots and listings.
Impress. =D

You should get an account on Dropbox. Once your map is complete, put the world's folder into a zip file and drag it to the Public folder on Dropbox. Then right-click the zip from the Dropbox directory to receive a public link that can be shared over the forum.
Wow. Really, REALLY glad I took a chance with this one. Probably the best 1.5.1 map since Herobrine's Return. I solved 70-80% of the puzzles without hints or the walkthrough, but to be honest they are really hard. Each complete puzzle gives a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction once its complete, which makes toughing through the riddles yourself all the more rewarding. I would really like a storyline of some sort to unfold for this map; perhaps a sequel should be made? The mysterious guiding entity within the "facility" is almost a GLaDOS character.
