I am more drawn towards the modern Style, Terraforming/Nature. Trying to get into fantasy style

What aspect of vanilla gameplay draws you towards SMP?

Being able to grow as a player within a community that is supportive and offers constructive criticism.

How would you describe your ideal community/server?

Having a chill community with members that have the same interests and are always open to helping others out whenever they need it. Having players that are long-term and not short-term when it comes to playing the game. A server having a shopping district ran by the players with or without an economy plugin as well as events and a few public farms to help everyone out.

Do you have any experience with Minecraft communities?

The Olympians - shutdown after 3 yrs

AtlasSMP - Burnt out of playing here

RevoMC - Amazing people, stopped playing however

Outside of Minecraft, what kinds of activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

I play a lot of GTARP (FiveM).

Outside of that, I am a full-time college student staying computer science. Besides that, I love chilling watching anime while doing GFX for personal use.

How did you hear about The Sanctuary SMP community?: From a friend of mine, currently on your server.

What is your favorite/preferred base/building style? I guess I would call it Natural? I like to start with a naturally occurring structure to guide my design. For instance start by digging into the side of a mountain and see where the inspiration takes me.
What aspect of vanilla gameplay draws you towards SMP? I started with Minecraft on Xbox so I am more accustom to the basics. I like the simple gameplay without intense mods. It allows for more creativity using simple objects in unique ways to create complex structures/functions. I am a very social gamer. I prefer to play together vs alone.
Do you have any experience with Minecraft communities? No, this would be my first Community experience unless you count the small 4-5 friends on a personal server.
Outside of Minecraft, what kinds of activities/hobbies do you enjoy? Playing games with my son. He is who started me on Minecraft. Frisbee golf, PC gaming obviously, Jackbox games are a hit, building IRL things around the house. I am electrically and mechanically minded. I also enjoy gardening with my wife. I would sum it up to say normal family/friend things.

What is your favorite/preferred base/building style?: I really love western themes although I usually always end up in a hole in the ground haha, hoping to change that this time around.

What aspect of vanilla gameplay draws you towards SMP?: I really enjoy the community aspect. I like coming together and creating something grand. I also enjoy seeing other players' builds and getting inspired by them, I feel like that pushes progression.

Do you have any experience with Minecraft communities?: I do! I've joined both vanilla and modded communities. Although they all eventually fell off due to inactivity. This server looks promising!

Outside of Minecraft, what kinds of activities/hobbies do you enjoy?: I used to backpack every now and then and find new places to visit in my city, but with COVID around I've mostly just been home. At home activities include playing other video games or watching anime for the most part

Like a majority of the people who applied to the server, I too heard about the Sanctuary SMP while browsing the MinecraftForum.

What is your favourite/preferred base/building style?

I’m still very new to Minecraft in all honesty, and the only builds I have really done are ones I followed on Youtube, hahaha. So… wooden houses with stone accents. However, I hope to learn and expand my building skill in Minecraft to the point where I can build my own projects without relying on tutorials and other beginner’s tools.

What aspect of vanilla gameplay draws you towards SMP?

I just want to play in a simple world with other people inhabiting the world. I think the base game of Minecraft is fantastic and I can lose myself into the game for hours if I’m not careful. The concept of punching a tree and ending up with a city is hilariously cool. I like that about Minecraft and I wish to share that experience with other people than just keeping the experience for myself.

Do you have any experience with Minecraft communities?

Before applying for the Sanctuary SMP, I played Minecraft on a private server with my cousin and a handful of friends. It’s fun playing with them but, as time went on, we didn’t play Minecraft as often as we did when we started the game together. Eventually, we discontinued our small server.

I’ve also looked for other Minecraft communities to join in but thus far all I was able to join was those servers with minigames and complicated server-specific systems that overwhelmed me.

Outside of Minecraft, what kinds of activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

I like being creative. I enjoy drawing and dabbled in video editing. One game I enjoy playing is Don’t Starve Together. It is the game that I have played admirably before purchasing Minecraft and I have been playing that game (DST) for years. When my hobbies or gaming are not occupying my time, I’ll be outside working.

What is your favorite/preferred base/building style? : Generally futuristic- I tried making a house once, and it was.. disappointing to say the least. Overall I prefer landscaping and decor.

For one of the servers I was in, everyone worked together to mine out and make our nether base and paths! What is your favorite/preferred base/building style? Not sure how I'd describe it exactly, I tend to experiment with a lot of stuff and when I find something I like, I run with it. I'll attach a couple screenshots of my recently deceased Hardcore world's base though. (RIP)

What aspect of vanilla gameplay draws you towards SMP? Creative and resource limitations that encourage setting smaller-scale infrastructural goals to meet the quotas for my larger builds. There's something special about making cool stuff when the materials you're using take intentional planning to gather and utilize.


Do you have any experience with Minecraft communities? I've been a part of several over the course of my teen years, but it's been a while since I've really been invested in a server community, either because the population drifted apart or I burnt out and was captured by other titles.

I've been a member of the Sanctuary community since season two and it's an awesome place to play minecraft and meet new friends from all over the world so I want to share some of my thoughts about this place. We have lots of fun, from server tours, games nights (Minecraft and other games), movie nights to just hanging out in Discord working on our builds or exploring. We do community builds that everyone who wants to can participate in and if you need help with a build of your own (or getting out of a lava pool) there's always someone there to give a helping hand. Staff is great and quick to help and members are included in the planning of future events and seasons. What I love most about The Sanctuary is of course all the amazing people I've met and also because this is a community who is always looking for ways to become even better. Looking forward to see some of you on the server soon!

As we anticipate the release of 1.14 and our next season, a creative super flat map has been created for everyone to design in and hang out!
