The partitioning sounds good, but wouldn't that lead to having void cells setup for almost all types? ...

Lol, it sounds like you have quite the essentia generation setup going on. If you were getting ton's of all types of essentia, and wanted to void it, then yeah you would need enough void cells for all types.

On a related note, is the 64K cells just not big enough to be practical? I hoping to find a balance point where you need a few cells, but not to the point where you need dozens for a small to medium scale operation.

In addition to the void cells, what would you think about a "Essentia Singularity Cell", it could be a massive cell, holding something like 100k(I'd have to do the math to get an exact number) of 1 type of essentia and would void the rest. It would be a royal pain to make, but should give even the largest automation setups a lot of breathing room. And lets be honest, if you can make more than 100k of each essentia, then surely you could make a singularity cell for each type :P

    Quote from JMiner49»

... and what would happen if I forgot I already had a 2k void partition setup and created another one on another void cell?

Assuming that both cells have the same priority, then the cell that already has some essentia in it will be chosen as the destination. One of the cells would remain empty.

I've given more thought to the void cells, and I would like to make the recipe for them simple. Any sized empty cell + void jar = Void cell of that size.

I love the opinions of the community:
    1. Is 64k not big enough?
    2. Do you think the singularity cell would be too un-ballanced?
    3. Would Cell+Void Jar be to easy for crafting void cells?

Ah, ok, sorry for the false bug report, then.

No worries ^.^ I welcome the reports and suggestions, it gives me a sense of what to prioritize and ideas for new things.

Is is possible for you to add Version Checker support?

    I'll look into it sure.

I've found a bug between Extra Cells and This mod. When I import essentia into my AE network, when I have fluid cells from Extra cells in my drives, it puts the essentia into those drives instead of your drives. I'm not sure if this is an error on m3gaf3ak's end or your end. I'm not trying to make it sound like I'm putting a blame on anyone, but I just want to see if there's a way that it could be fixed

Actually this is expected behaviour. The essentia is imported into the ME system as a gas(fluid), and since EC2 also deals with fluids, it's cells are a valid location for the gas to go. The essentia cells have an internal check that prevents other fluids from being stored on it.
If you do not wish for the gas to goto EC2's fluid cell, unless all essentia cells are full, you can utilize drive priority. The most basic setup would be two drives, give one of the drives higher priority than the other, and put the essentia cells in the higher priority drive.
All of my parts are compatible with the EC2 fluid cells, and can see essentia if it is stored on them.
If/when Mega implements a cell workbench for his cells you may be able to whitelist or blacklist certain fluids. If this partition support is added with a blacklist feature I do plan on making an extension to my workbench where you can quickly blacklist all essentia gas.

Is there a way to set a maximum storage amount and void the rest?

i.e if I had a storage bus on a void jar I would only have a maximum 64 units? and two void jars would give me 128

but what if I wanted to store say 2000 units and no more

There is no built in way to do this directly. My testing also shows that having multiple storage buses that allow void also produces complications. AE2 will always choose a destination that already contains the item/fluid. So if you have a void jar with some of the essentia in it, the system will likely route incoming essentia to that jar, ignoring any others.
The only solution I can think of to this is to have X normal jars + storage buses, with 1 void jar + storage bus. Ensure that the storage bus attached to the void jar has a lower priority than the storage buses attached to normal jars.

    Example:
    Key
    =================
    Storage bus: -|
    Normal Jar: [n]
    Void Jar: [v]
    =================

    A -|[n]
    B -|[n]
    C -|[n]
    D -|[v]
    Set priority of A, B, & C to 2.
Set priority of D to 1.

In short, there is no easy way to keep precise amount.

This has however given me an idea to play with: Void cells. It would be required to partition them, and they would split the drive storage evenly. For example a 4K drive partitioned with Terra and Aqua, Terra would get 2K storage, and Aqua would get 2k storage. Once there was 2k Terra on the drive, any incoming Terra would be voided.
Void cells combined with cell priority would give you a much easier means to control your essentia. Let me know what you think.

So doing the whole place it so you see it's back and then attach a smart cable to the back worked. Not sure why but it decided to just place itself the wrong way on a Dense cable only.

I don't see anything in the normal server log, so nothing that I can see for a non-critical error. So weird. Lol.

I can honestly say that I have no idea what would be causing that. I've tried every combination of situations I can think of, from changing forge and mod versions, to fiddling with graphic config files and I've been unable to reproduce it. The last things I can think of is that somehow your world seed has causes an emergent behavior, or there is an glitch in the renderer. If you make a new world and the problem goes away let me know.

    Hey buddy,

Thank you for your response. I understand what you mean completely, however it doesn't seem to be working on my end. I don't know if another mod has messed something up or what, but here's a video of what I've been trying.

O_o yeah that's a little odd. Do other parts, such as the Essentia terminal, also do that?

Edit: You may also want to check your log file and see if a non-critical error is being thrown.
Also try this: Place a the ACT on something so that you see its back, and try attaching a smart cable to it.

So I didn't necessarily feel this should be an issue on Github, or even if this is a major issue or anything. However I noticed that the Arcane Workbench Terminal is only placeable on Dense Cable in AE2, along with it also appearing backwards. The green faces the cable, while the back faces out. It works okay, just faces the wrong way.

I'll post a screenshot when I can, unless it's already been brought up and all.

Technicaly it, and all other AE parts, can be placed face-down on anything. It only requires a network connection to use ME items, not to craft with. However it will only link to the network if placed against a regular cable, covered cable, or smart cable.

    All four examples shown below:

Works now, thanks for the quick response. So no updating to above 1208 for me then.

Yup, the cutting edge versions of forge have changes some of their method signatures, so mods that have been built against 1208, such as TC and my mod, will likely not work properly.
Once the next version gets promoted and declared stable, we mod developers can start building against it.

The below crash is what I get when I try and go into ANY research from your mod or the main mod or any other add-ons I have that add stuff to TC4. The trick however is that it only happens when i have your mod installed.

According to the conversation from https://github.com/Azanor/thaumcraft/issues/1095 the issue is related to using an incompatible forge version. They suggest that rolling forge back to version 1208. If I understand correctly, the issue deals with the Thauminomicon asking forge for information about an item. All of my items use forge calls and hooks to relay data into other mods, so it I can understand why my mod would be causing trouble if those forge functions are not present in other forge versions.
Try using 1208 and see if it still gives you issues.

Having an odd issue; the thaumic energistics stuff is there and it all works. But on my server, the output is invisible. I can pick it up just fine, but it doesn't show up until after I have.

Edit: My bad, the output of the crafting table and of the Arcane workbench are invisible. I'm not sure what to make of it, as it does apparently work just fine, it just looks odd. Also, it doesn't show what the formula requires for the crafting as far as vis goes.

So in both the Arcane Workbench from TC and the Arcane Crafting Terminal from my mod, the crafting result(Outlined in red) along withe the required vis icons(Outlined in yellow) don't show up?

Edit: If I read your post correctly, this is also happening with vanilla crafting tables?

Could the essentia storage bus use the "void" properties of void jars? Trying to use void jar to keep an essentia type out of my essentia storage cells, but keep a stack or so of it handy in the system.

Added to the ToDo list. The plan is to add a button to the GUI to allow/disable void mode, that way you have the flexibility to turn it on or off as you need too.
