posted a message on Over Powered Mushroom Stew (Mooshroom makes it worse)
My two cents: I'd like to see the giant mushrooms changed so that they don't break down into small mushrooms, but instead mushroom blocks of various sorts that you can use to build. I can certainly see the side of being able to get small mushrooms out of it (basically dicing up the large chunks) but it does make mushrooms a lot more common. Yes, they don't stack, and I certainly wont use mushrooms as my main source of food (I generally wander around with a stack of cooked meat, for space sake), unless there are some changes.

Id propose making the stew stackable, but heal less hunger. Mushrooms IRL are not a great source of nutrition, mostly eaten for taste, I think. Another idea might be to combine them with aother foods for better foods (m ushroom stew + steak = chunky beef stew, or whatever, or maybe mushroom + stick + meat = kabobs).

Agreed to whoever posted that food itself need an overhaul. I like the hu nger system (though I do side with people who want it toggle-able, however Id stipulate toggle-able on world creation only) as it currently stands, TBH, but food definiately needs some reworking. With how easy it is to get meat (NOTE: I HAVE BARELY TOUCHED 1.9 pre-release, but I have seen comments to indicate animals dont spawn as much in it... not sure if this is intentional or not, and in the very little bit I *have* played 1.9pre I havnt had a problem finding aniamsl and meat) there isnt much reason for farming anymore.

edit: I think i wandered off topic. Sorry!

Ooh yes, clay golems. If we go by RPG version, tehy'd have a small chance of turning hostile on the creator at some point.

River_Blues -> your suggestion of combining the ender pearl (or, if we go with the earlier posts, the 'golem stuff') with a pumpkin before sticking it on the golem is a great idea.

posted a message on ideas for a better mushroom biome
I'm putting out Chickshroom as an alternate name for the chicken, heh.

I'd like to see some sort of actual-mushroom-based mob, similar to the Myconid from the AD&D game (basically living mushrooms). They could be similar to zombie pigmen in that they are not inherently hostile, but  have a group threat when one is attacked.

i have yet to see a mushroom biome (havn't really gone looking).. can t hey appear underground? Id love to see huge caverns that have giant mushroom forests in them. Ooh, maybe they could add in a third, rare type of mushroom (purple is  my thought) that is faintly luminescent.. perhaps a light level of like 4 or 5 (similar to the redstone torch), but with a purple light. Make these giant caves more creepy seeming.

Id also like to see variable size giant mushrooms.. some a little smaller, maybe 2-3 blocks high, and others being gigantic, like the sequias in Nandonalt's more trees mod, that could be lived in.

And yes, I do know that I'm dreaming a lot, lol. Maybe someone at  Mojang will see this and be like, "lightbulb!"

posted a message on Swamp texturing issues/faults
I do like the idea of tinting the water differantly for swamps, though it seems MORE clear, while it would seem to make sense that it be less clear. The lily-pads are pretty awesome (I can't see them in my world, for some reason.. they're just a textureless square), I hope that they lead to so mething more.. m aybe lil frogs that spawn on them or something. ^^

I do hope to see more done with swamps... maybe have a new type of 'wild grass' type thing to make swamps seem all the more...er.. swampy, for lack of a better term. I was going to suggest lots of reeds, but they're already a bit more common than I'm used to ( not saying thats bad, though). Actually, I guess what I am thinkig *would* be reeds.. not sugar-cane, but reed-reeds.

posted a message on Snowmen, a look at the future?
Is it possible to create a snow golem like the one Notch had in his screenshot?

As for the rest of the topic, awesome stuff, lets hope the dev team is reading and making notes :happy.gif:

re: comments on golems n ot being alive> true (although in some RPGs, the so-called flesh golems are, sort of, although the rest are not), but I still think the idea of "golem animator" being made of soul sand and something (Enderpear is good, but some other ideas would work too.. perhaps based on the sort of golem you want). The idea of animating it with latent soul energy is j ust awesome *Steals for his own tabletop RPG*

Another idea: fence post + fence post + pumpking -> scarecrow. Low m obility, repulses animal-type mobs, and passively increases the growth rate of crops (not trees) in a small area. Not all ideas have to be anti-mob :biggrin.gif:

posted a message on 1.9 or 1.8.2? i say 1.8.2 not much of an update...
Besides, adding stronghold-like structures and 2 new mobs to the nether is *far* more content than the update where he added wolves, and that got its own number. Add on top of that the bug fixes and the snow golem and its defifnately worth its own number

posted a message on [REQ] NPC Village roads
Another idea that occured to me while watching an LP (Dreamer's World, by totallydreamer123) is of a m od th at used rotting meat from zombies as trap-bait for some sorts of monsters, maybe spiders and other zombies. Kinda weird, I gu ess, but another use for the meat?

No, this wasn't an extraneous post to bump. I might just use this one threat permanently to put up various requests. :biggrin.gif: Yes, the link to the LP was a shout-out of sorts, cause I found her LP pretty fun to watch :happy.gif:

Looking for a mod that will modify the NPC village generator, so that it will use something like stone brick (prefered) for the roads instead of gravel. Any takers?

First off: You aren't going to achieve anything if you keep thinking of yourself as a dumbass that can't learn squat.
And if you do end up making a texturepack, referring to yourself as a dumbass will not attract a whole lot of people to your thread.
If you don't know something, then sit down and learn. This isn't rocket science,
Java also is something that some schools teach to 14 year olds.

Secondly: The issue is that the you seemed to have painted the background white.
Instead make sure the file has an alpha channel (transparency) and simply set the background transparent.
If you are confused as to how, take the time to toy around with the program you are using and learn it.
Open up a different, less-important project and just test out the effects your program can achieve. This will teach you a lot and will give you inspiration.

Note that the texture in terrain.png which is located beneath the Iron Block texture, is the side grass. I looks to be that you painted white all over it which is why the side grass appeared like it does in the image.

To clarify - the texture beneath Iron block is side grass for when graphics are turned to fancy, and when they are on fast, side grass is the texture to the left of wooden planks.

Ok, I am seeing what you mean about the white. I think I figured out the problem, which I can avoid next time... I opened it in MS Paint the first time around, then later used photoshop. It didnt occur to me at first the white bits vs the weird checked bits, b ut now that Ive read some of the comments here and watched a couple of tutorials on youtube, I definitely see the differance. I'll try again :happy.gif:

Edit: I didn't make any changes to the grass side-block, so Im puzzled how it ended up white.. I only changed the yellow flower, soul sand and cake

As for the other stuff, I do tend to self-depreciate. Long story, and not really the place for it. You're right though, If I actually apply myself, I could learn it. Come to think of it, when I was 14 and in school, a top of the line PC was a 486, and they wernt very common.. I was lucky enough to have a cheap 286 >.> The typical school computer was an apple 2gs o_o Things have come a long way

So I was sitting here thinking, "I don't know java, and Im too dumb to learn it.. maybe I can figure out how to edit textures and contribute to the community this way!" and so loaded up terrain.png from my painterly pack in photoshop and proceeded to play around with it. I liked what I did, saved it, and inserted it back into my painterly .zip that was sitting in my texturepacks directory. All proud, I proceeded to load up and game, and behold!

    http://s1178.photobu...9-21_202929.png

Areas that should be transparent (like around wild grass, saplings, etc) and the sides of blocks are straight up white. The picture I linked should show that, I hope.

Anyways, what am I doing wrong? Did I mess something up somewhere? How can I fix it? I must know! *cry*

Also, if this is in the wrong forum area, sorry :sad.gif:

What you need to add to this mod is Potato Chips, Hash Browns, and Baked potatos :biggrin.gif: Maybe some compatibility with Nandonalts cheese mod so you coul dhave cheesy baked potatos and hashbrowns :happy.gif:

edit: if you get salt flat biomes in, then you will win. Just make sure they are recessed into the ground a bit, since mostly they tend to b e former lakes/rivers/etc that have evaporatoed.
