I Have a Suggestion.

The sling-shot.

It's kindof like the bow but easier to make but a bit weaker

~~The slingshot can be bought by 30 rupees~~ -Just kidding

How it's crafted:
_{= STICK

~ = STRING

~}
Ammunition: ~~Flint~~ Rock

Stats:
+ Charges Twice as fast compared to the bow

+ Cheaper

- only 70% chance of getting Crits when fully charged

- ~~twice~~ thrice as less Damage compared to the bow

- ~~Only reaches 3/4 of the bow's maximum range~~
Scratch that. Same range

Also:
breaking down cobblestone in the crafting table would give 4 rocks
