posted a message on Friend cant connect to my vanilla 1.8 server?
Yesterday I downloaded & installed the Minecraft vanilla server. I changed the EULA value to true, I portforwarded.. I did everything I needed to do.

However, my friend cant join the server. Whenever he tries to join, it just says "Connecting to server...". I gave him the right ip address, but its not working.

The same thing happens to me whenever I try using the ip I gave him. But on the "Setting up a vanilla Minecraft server 1.8" tutorial, it told me what ip I need to give to my friends after I port forwarded.

What's wrong? Any help is appreciated!

    Actually I just noticed something...

At the bottom of the list, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Jywkqs It says there's a compatibility issue and I quote, "The G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory operating voltage of 1.6V exceeds the Intel Haswell Refresh CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum"

    Do I just ignore this?

Yeah, no, that's not how it works. You can't just trust a PSU on advertised ratings.

Corsair is generally pretty good about power ratings, but not every company is like that.

    OP: Better build for you.
    http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Jywkqs

Apparently you deleted your original build so I can't really compare anything, but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper and it will perform better.

posted a message on I'm building a pc, but i need a bit of help..
I've decided to create a whole new thread for this because I want to make this specific.

Once I save up more money, I want to order parts from pcpartspicker and start building my first gaming pc. However, I have no clue on whats good or whats bad. That's why I am making this thread.

I'm not playing games like Battlefield 4 or anything, but I still want a really good graphics/video card for the games I play in the future.

I also want to use my computer for recording, editing, and school work.

My budget is $1500. I don't mind spending a little bit more...

If anyone could suggest a build or any parts, that would be really helpful. Thanks x

Thank you guys for the input. I have no idea on whats good or bad for a gaming pc (or a pc in general)

Would it be possible if someone could tell me which parts I could change to make it more efficient & affordable? Or maybe even suggest a new build? My budget is $1500...

If not, that's alright. Thank you once again :)

posted a message on A fps question...
I used to be getting over a 100 fps (I checked by pressing f3) but now my fps has been "locked" at 60...

    Am I doing something wrong?

If I install a mod that is known to decrease fps, is it possible I would still have 60fps?

    Sorry for the noobish question.

Im building my own computer, and im wondering if these specs are good before I spend $1500 on it and find out its not.

I'm planning on using my computer for gaming. Also, recording because I have a youtube channel.

    My specs:

    CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k 3.5ghz Quad-Core

    RAM- 8gb

VIDEO CARD: Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 2gb

If you want to take a look at the whole build, here's the link : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/EmeraldElectric/saved/

Yes, it would be more benificial to your channel to wait until then. And when that does happen later on, you will be able to do anything you feel like in your videos without having to worry about computer performance.

Also, while you're waiting, improve your commentating skills! It's the perfect time to make it better. When you get your computer ready, you and your channel will be fully ready to launch!

Thank you so much for helping. I feel really confident about all this.I'll start practicing my commentating right after I finish posting this reply!

I hope you have a great day. :)

Your channel won't last long if you only have 1 series in mind. Plus if your computer can't go past like 30 fps, you won't be able to record a lot of other fun things that players want to watch. This would discourage people subscribing to you. Not trying to put you down or anything, but it's generally a good idea to have everything properly set before actually trying to start a proper YT channel. These include proper mic, recording/editing software, computer, and internet connection. If one of those things are not good, your content quality will suffer.

For the question of "Why should someone watch me play the same game that thousands of others have done?": Good for you for actually thinking this! There are too many people who start making videos who never think of this. They automatically assume that they will make 1 video and get 2000 subscribers right away. That isn't how this works. What will end up happening is that you will make your video, and get maybe 1 or 2 views a day. This is where proper advertising skills come in. But back to the point of "why would they watch my stuff?". They won't. If you're making videos, then record with the thought in mind that you will not become famous or well known. Do it not for fame or money, but because it's fun. Making videos and commentating is a fun and exciting experience. But doing it for the fame is the wrong way to go about it. If you enjoy what you are doing because it's fun, the viewers will see it in your voice and actions. This is an attractive feature in video makers. If someone is clearly doing it for fame, they tend to not care about their content as much and are just a puppet for the viewers.

As for commentary, that is a skill you have to learn. I recommend watching a proper series that has a person that is calm and can entertain his/her audience without putting on a fake act. . He is a very good example. His commentary starts at an average level and progresses nicely. Plus the dude has a very soothing voice.

But to actually improve commentary skills, you just have to practice. Make a single player world, and talk to yourself. You can even record and play the recording back to see how and where you can improve. We here in the forums could help in that part as well. But if you're too shy or nervous to start commentating right now, then just make the world and talk in your head. Keep talking, don't stop. Make a comment about everything, bring up stories that you remember by looking at something, do whatever but keep talking. But also remember that talking too much is a bit annoying thing as well. You'll have to find the balance between talking and staying quiet yourself. That will be developed according to how you learn to commentate.

So basically the tl;dr of how to become better at commentating: practice. Also, let me know if you want me to explain something else in a bit more detail.

Thanks for the information and tips :)

I have a Blue Yeti (usb microphone), Fraps as a recording software, Windows Live Movi Maker as an editing software (cant really afford $600 for Sony Vegas) and a great internet connection. The only problem here is my crappy computer. Should I wait until I build my own gaming computer?

To begin, I am terribly sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I have everything I need to start a youtube channel. A recording software, a pretty decent microphone, channel art for my Youtube & a channel name. I just don't know where to start. Im not sure if it's because im nervous, or if I don't know what to say (I've tried making a video once.. im just a bit nervous)

Im kind of wanting to start a Survival Game series, but it's been done thousands of times. Why should someone watch me play the same mini game many other Youtubers play?

I also want to record The Bridges on my channel. Im not sure what to say when im mining though. Do I just leave an awkward silence?

I cant do a Survival series (its a good idea though since 1.8 comes out soon) because my computer runs Minecraft at 30 fps (lowest settings with optifine. Obviously without huge buildings)

Any ideas for videos are welcome! Also I would love it if someone could give me tips on commentating and making videos. Thanks :)

I will build my house in any biome that shares a border with an ocean. I like living on the coast.

Sometimes I build my house on the coast as well (or near it, so I have more building space in every direction of my home) :P
