Ugh people. Stop going on about it being an RPG or something. Notch has said again and again form the beginning that he's not going to add leveling to the game.
He mentioned that it's an "Adventure Update", which could very possibly mean "Update in which we add adventure", much like how people refer to various updates by the major feature they introduced.
It seems very likely he is just adding the adventure mode he has teased since back in indev. Stop freaking out that it's going to be an RPG.

Here's how things go in Minecraft:
1) Notch updates.
2) Notch fixes some bugs.
3) The mod community makes/updates mods which add things that aren't in the game.
4) Users use those mods to either add to the game, to fix bugs, or to tweak the functionality of existing things (books are a beautiful example of this.)
5) Notch&Co. get ideas for new things to add to the game, often from mods (game killers indeed).
6) Notch updates, breaking all mods.
Notch (and his employees, I guess) can't possibly compete with the massive amount of mods made by the community. If there's something in the game you want, it's much easier to just get a mod that reflects what you want instead of waiting for Notch to release an update that caters perfectly to your whims. You don't have to install an x-ray mod, a flyhack, a time/weather controller, and an auto-monster killer (ironically all included in Zombe's modpack). Instead, just get the mods that reflect your gameplay. Mods in Minecraft are the community's way of making the game exactly how they want it.
If that "kills the game" for you, consider it in a coma already. There are parts of the vanilla game which are straight broken, and there are parts that just don't make sense(not being able to write in books, for example). Modders fix these issues and release what would be a patch as a mod.
tl;dr If you're not willing to install a mod to "fix" the game to your pleasing, you have no place saying ANYTHING about Notch's not having released what you want him to release.
It kills the game for us because we know that the features aren't official, and it shows on many of them. I rarely mod games for this reason (The Elder Scrolls is the only game I mod, only because I already did everything both games have to offer)
And how the hell is installing a mod for a game that's in Beta a "fix"? You have to start over every time an update is released, waiting forever for the author to update the mod.
I think you are an ass for suggesting that you HAVE to mod the game to think that Notch should add a feature. Modding the game doesn't make you better than people who play vanilla.

Unlike a lot of people I tend to play fair and only with the updates from Notch. Why? Because it kills the game for me.
Same here. I've been playing vanilla since june of '09.
You can't just say "Use a mod".
Not only are mods difficult to use for many layusers, but they stop working after every update until the author updates them. Additionally, what happens when it gets properly implemented in the official game?

Hate to break it to Mr Hipster, but a lot of the early pioneers in home computing were hippies who probably smoked dope once in awhile. You don't think Ken and Roberta Williams smoked a little? Then you never played Leisure Suit Larry.... :smile.gif:
Not to mention Nolan Bushnell and Steve Jobs.

I think that console gamers are potheads, you know why? Cause EVERY ONE I've met irl is always STONED OFF THEIR ASS and I don't even live in a poor location.
I'm not biased towards a console either, I ****ing hate Microsoft because it's a douchebag company run by douchebags. I hate Microsoft for being Microsoft, I hate console gamers because they're potheads.
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE
Look at mister hipster.
And let me guess, Linux is perfect, ain't it?
Just leave, you obviously don't care about being fair minded.

If you wanna socialize with potheads and pedobears then go ahead, be my guest.
Potheads? Pedobears? Do you have any data to support the idea that the people who play on the 360 are potheads? Or pedophiles?

FYI, Sony has decided to port it to the Xperia Play instead of PS3. It was their decision. Blame Sony, not Mojang. While Microsoft is porting it to the Xbox 360.
I think Sony's got the right idea, actually. Minecraft makes a great mobile experience, just like Pokemon and Tetris did on the gameboy. These are all games that work really well in short doses.

Expanding on my last post, what's the point of this topic? You're just raging.
How is this raging? Doesn't raging require anger? Annoyance and anger aren't the same thing, dude.
And look at you trying to be cute by pretending that a person shouldn't talk about something he perceives as damaging. Here, have a cookie.

You could install your laptop on the bed and play Minecraft?
It is going to be possible to play on your sony ericsson and xBox 360.
But... I am already walking to the corner of my epic building. But it just takes so long... maybe because its epic... :smile.gif:
Dunt have a laptop bro.

Regardless of the reputation console players have, the fact is that Minecraft just isn't attractive to "hardcore" CoD players and 12-year-olds hyped up on sugar. The kinds of people it appeals to are people like you. People like you who don't have great PCs or prefer console games, but still value deep creative experiences like Minecraft. My girlfriend is one person who prefers using a controller for games, and who likes to sit in the bedroom, not at a desk, when playing games.
I play the hell out of the game on the PC, and yet I will still probably play the console version as well, just because of the ready social structure of xbox live.
The fact is the console version's existence isn't going to change **** about the game or the community. In fact, it's people like YOU that make communities like this worse: you think you are so much better than another demographic that you stereotype like all hell, so they come here and think that it's normal to be a bigotted moron who whines and screams about change.
Go sit in the corner, you all, and let the console players have some fun too.
Jun 8, 2011I made a few mock-ups of the Xbox 360 interface and posted them here. I'm wondering if either of these will be more likely than the other as the main interface choice for the inventory bar.Posted in: Discussion
