ok minecraft beta in my opinion is a total fail. I have found one new thing leaf decay. And how long did this take for it to be released? it is ridiculous. Second thing. This is brand new! Huge ammounts of lag and it freezes my computer every time i start minecraft up. Not only that but when it does not freeze i have about 1/2 fps and before beta i ran around 60-80 fps. So i just recommended this game to my friend and he bought it and it lagged a little but now it is unplayable for him. Oh and i want to here about some of your rants and problems about beta to. I just hope :Notch: Notch :Notch: can fix these probelms!

Counter argument: Why YOU suck,in this regard.

You do not understand what "Beta Phase" means. The Beta Phase is used for bugfixes and behind the scenes changes. So,please, pour yourself a nice hot cup of STFU,and educate yourself.

Well here's the thing: Betas usually aren't on sale. In fact, they never are. Notch opened himself to this scrutiny the moment he decided to sell an unfinished product. No matter what he calls it, beta, alpha, etc. he's already released it. This is release phase 2: Beta.

You didn't buy the game, you PRE-ORDERED it, and that pre-order gave you ACCESS TO THE BETA. Big difference, dude.

    Oh, god damnit, you kids.

You realize that all programming isn't just gameplay? It's got a lot to do with things that occur behind the scenes. Notch didn't program the game to be able to do many of the things he is trying to do, so now he has to do a lot of stuff with some fancy behind-the scenes coding. Most of what he's been working on these days have been laying the groundwork for future content, not on content itself.

Besides ITS A GAME IN BETA. If you wanted to buy a complete game, you should have waited for the game to be released. It's not like Notch has a freakin' contract with you.

I like this idea. Perhaps when seasons are implemented, Holidays will as well?

Battalia is right. This is still an alpha, it is not the final product.

A normal dumbwaiter WOULD be just one object. A storage dumbwaiter would be made like a storage minecart, and a powered dumbwaiter would be made like a powered minecart. It's a more consistent way of doing this.

    posted a message on Dumbwaiter
After transporting my accumulated wealth of 3 chests full of stone from my mine up to my home, I realized that my row of chests near the bottom of my mine is almost exactly beneath my other chests, since my stairways pattern out into a rough spiral. At this point I realized that it would be very useful to have a ladder going directly up. So I built one... From the bottom of the map up to the ground floor. Suffice to say, it takes a long time to climb that ladder.

At this point, I thought "Wouldn't it be cool if minecarts went vertical? After all, a ladder is structured similarly". Then I realized how stupid that would be. Then I realized it was actually not that stupid at all, but my mental image of a minecart made lots more sense if the minecart is replaced with a tiny elevator... like a dumbwaiter.

Which brings me back to the title. I want a new entity that can ride up ladders, powered like a powered minecart, and that can push another cart up the ladder. The other cart would be either a occupiable box, or a storage box. These would be crafted the same way as minecarts, only instead of a box opening upwards in the grid, it would open to the left or right, like so:

    :Iron: :Iron: :Iron:
    :Iron: [] []
    :Iron: :Iron: :Iron:

After this the dumbwaiter would be placed anywhere on a ladder. If right-clicked, the player enters the dumbwaiter, as they would a minecart, and can press up or down to move the dumbwaiter up or down, respectively.

Also works equievelently for a Storage or Powered dumbwaiter.

This seems unlikely, given that minecraft is already with Curse, making Steam redundant to some degree.

posted a message on Jars. Not Flower Pots, Jars.
I like this idea, but I'd rather it mesh more with things like the upcoming Goblin villages and the common Ruin idea. Seems to me like it would make more sense to find a few jars in an old ruin or int he hut of a goblin than randomly out in the wild.

Oh, and by the way, Stushla, in real life there are PLENTY of caves that don't have water flowing in them. Sometimes they will form, dry up, and then partially collapse. Other times they'll form but then the area will have different weather conditions.

posted a message on Sleeping in Minecraft!
People have made threads about beds for a long time, ever since the introduction of Indev mode. The general consensus was always that it would be great for single player but couldn't work the same in multiplayer.

Also, I'd rather have a sleep function that would check for the presence of a "pillow" block underneath my character than to have craftable beds. Or maybe you could craft a 1x1 bed and place another next to it to have them merge like chests. But an object bigger than 1 block seems like it doesn't fit in minecraft.

    Quote from vietownage »
The title of the topic explains everything!!! Of course redstone and glass is needed to craft a lightbulb. Much like this!
    [] :Glass: []
    [] :RFlower: []
    [] [] []

    :RFlower: :Glass: []
    [] [] []
    [] [] []

    = flower = redstone

Yes it would give off twice the light then an ordinary torch and it would be an alternative to lanterns I mean some people like to build modern houses right? Then atleast include a lightbulb!

You can place it in a ceiling. You can place it in a wall. Wouldn't make much sense if it was placed in a floor, maybe to show some cons! Such as being able to break easily just like regular glass that is able to break within half a second when you tried to break regular glass, also you cannot retrieve any of the items within crafted except the redstone.

This idea is simple! Not to complex, not to complicated it's just glass and the addition of redstone, I'm surprised noone has mentioned this yet. Of course it is not an early achievement since you have to go look for redstone and put sand in a glass so come on, lightbulb should be implemented as it is everlasting unless you break it...

So yes I showed you the pros and the cons, it shouldn't matter much. :iapprove:

I don't really like this, because lanterns actually fit into minecraft, while this... doesn't. What part of early 19th century tech screams "lightbulbs stronger than lanterns" to you?

There've beenquite a few threads in the past about this very thing, though usually a bit more elaborate. There've been threads about ruins, dungeons, and even books left by ancient civilizations. (I wrote one such thread). Try searching for a few such threads, there were some good ones.

I like your skull idea especially.

posted a message on Mob spawning
I have a building with a plank floor, enclosed in stone and lit with a few torches. And yet somehow I came up from my mine and two creepers were sitting in my house.

SO my question is, what conditions are required for a mob to spawn? I thought they could only spawn on dirt or solid stone?
