A8 is better than A7 was. It seems to also spam the console when it doesn't find ctm's, and then those are the textures that show as missing. Maybe A9 will fix it all up :)

On another note... Does anyone know what the texture name for stone bricks are? (since cobble uses stonebrick texture)

Doesn't make it right, or effective. It actually would cause more people to ask. It's a very moot point though considering he's been updating often. Anyone wanting updates, be patient and they'll be out soon. It's obvious he's working on things, since he's done around 4 updates (probably more) since 1.5 release, and that's rather impressive.

Good work CB, you're doing incredibly well and your efforts are much appreciated :)

As I had a work copy of OptiFine A6 for 1.5 compatible with #598, I just merged the rest of the A7 features and made a A7 for 1.5. It should generally work like A7 for 1.5.1, but it is less tested.

Thanks so much for this. It will be a great help until current 1.5 mods are 1.5.1 compatible :)

We're making great progress. Textures are working great and there are no more compile errors left to fix. We've been busy with extensive testing and a 1.5 release is approaching faster than an ablaze runaway train.

Thank you all for your patience.

You've earned our patience. Thank you for all your hard work and making an effort to keep us updated on your progress :)

posted a message on Eloraam's Mods (RedPower 2 Prerelease 6)
I'm sorry, but seeing so many want her mod in their game isn't logically a faith killing thing. If anything it should be a motivator that people don't just say forget it and try and find some other way to fill the gap.

The ones who'd logically lose faith are the people being completely left in the dark and receiving no word at all. A date isn't required, some sign of life, and word she's actively working on porting, is. Without this, many will give up hope, or be frustrated. It's not like she's come on and said she's working on it but it may take a while, and then people have complained. She just hasn't bothered and that is what is going to get to people most. Even updating the OP out of the stone-ages would help.

Eloraam is a great coder with a brilliant mind. This isn't in question. If we're losing RP, or being forced to stay outdated to keep using it..is.

For the record there are a ton of 1.5 mods out, and most of the major content ones that aren't out yet, have let us know they're working on it. A post that would take her a minute to write, would probably result in pages of people cheering, praising and encouraging her.

Everything is wrong with the balance of this mod. I currently restrict it to gold axes only, but I permit damage in excess of the axe.

    ===

I'm an "Other" voter in the enchantment poll. Specifics:

I want to see a "Tree chopper" enchantment for axes. With the enchantment, it takes out the tree, taking damage in the process.

Tree chopper level 1: Does not go past the axe's durability. I figure this is around a level 8-12 enchantment. (Ideally: Set to where you are likely to get it as the second enchantment if you spend 30 levels).
Tree chopper level 2: Takes out the whole tree, past the durability. I figure this is around a level 30-35 enchantment. (hard on diamond, reasonably easy on gold).

What I'd ideally like to see: The time to chop is the "base chop time" times the size of the tree, or at least close to that. It doesn't work. Even changing the hardness from the default of 2.0 to the modified default of 4.0 introduces noticeable client/server sync issues. Since the chopping time cannot be changed based on how big you are chopping, something else has to give.

For me, I restricted it to gold axes, because gold is all about speed (if you don't know: Gold tools are faster than diamond); I still restricted all the super-large EBXL and twilight forest trees. Kept vanilla jungle trees as OK.

It really depends on your perspective. If you chop a tree in rl, it will ALL fall down. If your axe breaks in the process, it's still going to fall. Some probably add this mod in because they don't like trees defying gravity. Besides, if you have it set to honor axe damage, it's no more than you could do in vanilla, but just doesn't waste as much of your time.

You can currently adjust many things within the config to adjust to a balance you want.

    From the config:

    # Enable to cause item damage based on number of blocks destroyed [default: true]
    B:allowItemDamage=true

    # Enable to allow chopping down the entire tree even if your item does not have enough damage remaining to cover the number of blocks. [default: false]
    B:allowMoreBlocksThanDamage=false

    # When useIncreasingItemDamage=true the damage applied per block broken will increase by this amount every increaseDamageEveryXBlocks blocks broken in a tree. [range: 0.1 ~ 100.0, default: 1.0]
    S:damageIncreaseAmount=1.0

    # Axes and shears will take damage this many times for each log broken.
    # Remaining damage is rounded and applied to tools when a tree is finished. [range: 0.1 ~ 50.0, default: 1.0]
    S:damageMultiplier=1.0

    # When useIncreasingItemDamage=true the damage applied per block broken will increase each time this many blocks are broken in a tree. [range: 1 ~ 500, default: 15]
    I:increaseDamageEveryXBlocks=15

    # Set to true to have the per-block item damage amount increase after every increaseDamageEveryXBlocks blocks are broken. [default: false]
    B:useIncreasingItemDamage=false

    # The maximum horizontal distance that the log breaking effect will travel (use -1 for no limit). [range: -1 ~ 100, default: 16]
    I:maxBreakDistance=16

    # The hardness of logs for when you are using items that can chop down trees. [range: 0.0 ~ 100.0, default: 4.0]
    S:logHardnessModified=3.0
All of these would fine tune the balance of the mod to however easy or hard you want it to be.

That aside, I'm happy that treecap enchantment is being put in as an option. For those people who think that it's too fast (though I don't know why those people would get the mod in the first place) The enchantment option will allow them to make it harder for people, which is what many seem to want.
