Currently I am doing a "Re-generation" improving areas inside and outside my mountain home, open plan living new ideas all the time to improve things. I have had this world just over two years now and never tire of it.
Texture pack = painterly.

*Leads down to portal room via a piston wall entrance, and the mob area at the bottom; and the very core of the mountain whre you find lava pools.

*This extension from the front room , having knocked through a wall, is a work in progress with furnishing, will have book cases a small office desk & chair, maybe a few sofas to look out the window over the ocean and it's bridge.

Just of the living room we go down to the storage room, a small general items storage room was here before it was knocked through creating a new way down. (Door was in the living room)

In recent months an old cave has been transformed into a science/brewing lab, the mouth of the cave above became a galley for the incinerator and infinite water, a lever to the old cave which is now a science lab with working nether wart farm.Work in Progress:

*Work started on the ceiling, after lights were added.

*Will be changing decor to match old lab with stone slab walls.Brand new "Hazzadous Area" for creating potions. To be completed.

Originally started as an "In-wall" cauldron, but figured it needed it's own room. This room will be a future storage room for potions:

Back to the front room and off the landing down to storage there's also the dining room across the lobby:

*Only the new kitchen to finish in the dining room, not originally there.Another room of the living room, before the extension leads to the bedroom:

*The kitchen was been taken down recently, was being renovated) as it wasn't working for me. As you can see by the stairs leading down, there's a big gap there now.

Corridor off the front room:

the library: (Needs renovating too)

There's also an art gallery but I've been forever transforming the old cobblestone walls to something nice, but I can't decide on a final look, so it has been omitted from this gallery.14th Nov -I may swap these rooms over, medium sized art gallery where the library is and a grand library where the art gallery is. That is a big project however...Also off the corridor is the viewing room with water window:

*This has just been redecorated with more blue wool (Light blue), but possibly a new floor and a more nautical fishy theme. Also upstairs is the rear lounge:

*The door by the ladder leads down a new set of stairs into that extension, walls down

Off the bedroom en-suite bathroom the VIP room over looking the pool and small tennis court complete with changing rooms:

Other areas:

The new tavern after being completetly knocked down and re-built:

Farms:

*Potatoe and carrot farm reverted to two seperate rooms of different light values for mushrooms, potatoe carrot farm now follows on from this room:

*Formerly potatoe/carrot farm.

Before going the other direction, to the right of the bridge on my side of land, far back from the back of the mountain, the swimming pool area and past the freaky floating lava fall is the Halfway House. (Unfurnished):

*In the past this was halfway to another huge area of land with snow and infinite burning forest. Unfortunately this world got accidentally deleted - twice, so that area of land re-generated and was no more. Pity I loved that area and used to have a cemetery there too; so this was house was halfway between my current home and there.

Currently the rail cart system goes on a long length of wood planks across the ocean, to the left side of the bridge. This is being changed however and I am currently tunneling underwater for the new glass tunnel:

Across the bridge:

*New double path down to the bridge to accomodate for the new underwater tunnel for the minecart system. Stairs down the middle gown down to the minecart, the two either side back down to the bridge. All stairs awaiting to be turned into stone-brick stairs.Mount DOOOOoooom:

*A big stone wall will go around it for a future project and every cobble/dirt block making the fort, will be solid stone.
Behind that place and across the ocean, is a shrine to the first ever house I built on the first ever Minecraft sever I joined, where it cannot be harmed.

It is more aesthetic than the original however. So that's my home, there are many, many more pictures but if that seems like a lot, I took a hell of a lot more recently, those are the highlights. Any questions, comments, thoughts or opinions welcome.

So I had to go exploring for mineshafts for wood again, ended up exploring for around 2 hours but kept ending up near the same area because the caves kept going in circles, I ended up giving up on that cave and just decided I would dig 500 blocks away just to be in a different cave system. A little bit over halfway though digging the tunnel I ended up finding a cave right next to a cave spider spawner. Ended up building my base right near the entrance to the mineshaft. Going to explore it later. And here's some pictures of my base and what items I currently have.
On a side note Valdarok the mineshaft I found was the same one you posted about earlier, only ended up about 60blocks away from where you found it. Kinda funny how everyone ends up at the same mineshaft. Also I never seemed to have trouble with food, on my first attempt I ended up with around 30 zombie flesh to use I even had a zombie drop a carrot for me but I didn't grow it because I felt that it would make it too easy. On this current attempt I ended up with 21 bones but no zombie flesh but I did end up finding a seed to grow for wheat. It just seems like I end up fighting hordes of mobs constantly. Might help if I ever actually lit stuff up as I explored I suppose.

Started by making a wooden pick and then a stone pick and sword dug a tunnel down to around layer 32 and made a second crafting table a furnace and used my wooden pickaxe and 2 sticks as fuel to burn 2 logs into charcoal. Ended up hearing a zombie while doing that, dug towards it and found a cave system. Collected enough stuff to make a full set of iron armor some buckets and an iron pick, a sword and flint and steel.Made a nether portal then realized that the lava oceans there might be layer 140 also so I didn't go in. Went exploring the cave some more and found diamonds and made a pick. While exploring a heard some more zombies through a wall and dug towards them, found a large open cave that I made into my base and built a lake in the center that I could fish in. Explored as much of the cave system as I could find but had no luck finding mineshafts. Went back to my base dug around 200 blocks in one direction and found no caves tried another and still had no luck. While digging a third tunnel I heard spiders and dug towards them and found a spider spawner and a cave system. Explored the cave system for about and hour but couldn't find any mineshafts. Ended up using all of my wood and only had about 100 uses left on my diamond pick so I decided to give up and go look in mcedit to find a mineshaft. Only saw 2 mineshafts in mcedit and neither of them was connected to the cave system I found or even within 400 blocks of spawn, so I don't think it's possible to get to them without cheating to know where they are.
In the end I mined a total of 10 diamonds 3 emeralds about a stack and a half of lapis around 15 gold and I had about 25 furnaces for holding items in. I also killed 29 creepers, 33 skeletons, 23 spiders, 54 zombies, 1 enderman, 4 witchs, 1 bat and 1 pig.And here's some pictures of my base and some stuff I found.

I decided to build a town just to pass some time and use up some extra stuff I had around.

The first thing I thought it might be was the sharpness enchantment, but it only adds 1.25 damage per level which means the sharpness V would add 6.25 to the diamonds swords 8 damage for a total 14.25 damage per swing, not even enough to kill a spider in one hit, no where even close to 1 hit killing an enderman.
So the next thing I checked was the strength potions and saw that a level 2 strength potion gives a 260% damage increase.
While some of you might not think that it's a lot when you look closer it gives a massive damage boost. For example a wooden sword has a base attack of 5 damage the 260% boost from a level 2 strength potion would add an additional 13 points of damage to the wooden swords 5 for a total of 18 damage, nearly 4 more points of damage than a sharpness V diamond sword.
When you compare what sharpness adds compared to strength it seems completely useless. And if you add in critical hits with the strength potions it just makes sharpness look worse than it already does. But before we add the critical hits I want to point out some information on the wiki that seems incorrect about them.
I also noticed that the information on the wiki about critical hits doesn't seem to be true anymore. It says that a critical hit will do a random amount of additional damage up to 50% more (rounded down) plus one heart.
From some tests that I've done I've found that critical hits don't do a random amount of damage, it always adds 50% damage to your attack. After finding out that that part of the info was wrong I decided to test out whether critical hits added a heart worth of damage after adding the 50%.
I tried it out with a stone sword. According to the wiki a stone sword with a critical should do a total of 10 damage (6 for the stone sword 3 for the critical hits 50% bonus and 1 added on as the added heart of damage at the end.) But every time I tested it I only did 9 damage, it only did the stones swords damage plus the 50% bonus from doing a critical hit.
Next I decided to see if it rounded down the damage if it wasn't a full point worth of damage. I tested this out with a wooden sword, if the wiki was correct the wooden sword should do 5 damage from the sword + 2.5 damage from the critical hit and be rounded down to 7 damage. But when I tested it every time I used the sword and checked the my statistics the total damage that I've done went up by 7.5 damage, which meant that the stats didn't round it down.
My first thought was that maybe it just says that I'm doing 7.5 damage but the monsters are only taking 7 damage, so I decided to do some tests on monsters. I figured I would try it out on a skeleton since they have 20 health, I decided to do 2 critical hits and a normal hit on it.If the damage was rounded down I would only do 7 damage for each critical and 5 damage for the normal hit for a total of 19 damage which would mean that the skeleton would still be alive. When I tested it though the skeleton died every time which meant that the damage wasn't being rounded down, it also means that monsters keep track of damage done to them even if it's less than half a heart of damage.
Now that we have the explanation about critical hits finished let's add their boost to the strength potion bonus. We'll use a wooden sword again, the wooden sword has 5 base damage add on 13 because of the strength potion and you have 18, next you take the 18 damage and add another 50% because of the critical hit which puts you up to 27 damage total. That's enough damage to kill most of the mobs in the game, the things that it can't 1 hit kill are endermen, large magma cubes (because of the armor),iron golems, horses with very high health, and the two bosses.
Now at this point you might be thinking that with sharpness V on your diamond sword you would do the 14.25 damage plus 260% from strength (37.05) and the 50% from criticals (25.65) for a total of 76.95 damage but you'd be wrong. Things like sharpness, smite and bane of arthropods are added on at the end after all of the calculations, so instead you would do 8 from the sword + 20.8 from strength +14.4 from critical for a total of 43.2 damage before adding sharpness on. (Enough to 1 hit kill any normal mob other than iron golems and the two bosses. If you add the bonus from sharpness V to that you do 49.45 damage, which doesn't change much you still 1 hit kill everything except the threes things previously listed.
It doesn't even make it take less hits to kill and iron golem, takes 3 hits whether or not you have sharpness on the sword. It might help a little on the wither, but not much. It takes 12 normal hits with an unenchanted sword to kill the wither vs the 10 of a sharpness V sword, or 9 critical hits with a normal sword vs the 8 of the sharpness V sword.
Sorry about how unorganized the post is, I made it while I was testing out all of these things. If I made any mistakes somewhere please tell me about it so that I can fix it. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to explain it the best that I can.
