posted a message on [1.7.2]LabStuff-Stuff for yo lab!

Hey! It looks like you've put tons of work into this mod (and continue to do so). But there's (nearly) no information on how it works!

I can't find anything about the fusion reactor (which, from the blocks, seems to be a feature?) or the particle accelerator. Are those working features?

I guess what I'm saying, is that you're selling yourself short by not having more documentation. I think there's a lot of cool stuff here that's basically going unnoticed.

Feel free to PM me if you want any help with documentation.

posted a message on SEUS Shader Performance Issues

First reaction: "What? That can't be right. How could a major hardware maker neglect such a major game?"

    After research: "....****."

That said, I did manage to wring some further performance out of the card with this knowledge in hand. I dropped SEUS and went with Chocapik13's shaders, which seems a lot less demanding. Another thing which (strangely) seems to have an effect is running the game fullscreen, rather than windowed, which seems to result in a +10FPS gain. <shrug> With that configuration, I'm running at 30-40 FPS, which is bearable.

Thanks for the help! At least I can stop searching knowing that the problem is effectively out of my hands.

posted a message on SEUS Shader Performance Issues

Sorry, I posted a screenshot which I hoped would help clarify some of those vague terms.

System is an 8 Core i7-2600 (3.4GHz), 16GB DDR3 RAM, with AMD Radeon R9 200 Series. Minecraft is installed on an SSD.

By "poor performance", I mean that I'm only getting 4-15 FPS, which seems low for a system with those specs, I would think? (Are my expectations there off?) And even at those levels, when you look around, there is noticeable stutter.

I've tried running with and without the arguments, as well as with a reduced set that only sets the allocated memory, and neither seem to have much impact, honestly.

posted a message on SEUS Shader Performance Issues

    Hey guys,

I've got Optifine and SEUS set up on my Minecraft install, but I'm getting very poor performance. I think that I have sufficient computer to be able to run things smoothly, but for whatever reason Minecraft seems to not be making full use of things.

    Here's a screenshot of the F3 screen: http://i.imgur.com/WNgTgvb.png

GPU tends to hit about 70% usage max, CPU tends to sit around 50%, with no cores fully used. I've played around with some of the video settings, but they haven't had much of an impact at all.

Have also tried running with (and without) the JVM arguments from Tenelia on Xealgaming.net:

    -Xmx6G -Xms6G -Xmn2048m -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+UseNUMA -XX:+CMSParallelRemarkEnabled -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=15 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=30 -XX:GCPauseIntervalMillis=150 -XX:+UseAdaptiveGCBoundary -XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit -XX:+UseBiasedLocking -XX:SurvivorRatio=8 -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=15 -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true -Dfml.ignoreInvalidMinecraftCertificates=true -XX:+UseFastAccessorMethods -XX:+UseCompressedOops -XX:+OptimizeStringConcat -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=2048m -XX:+UseCodeCacheFlushing -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=20000 -XX:ParallelGCThreads=10

Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end trying to figure this out!

Just a warning: the current version (WarpTheory-1.7-1.0-24) causes the server to crash when the Vertigo effect comes up. The player.dat file gets corrupted, and needs to be deleted, which means loosing all your stuff and resetting to spawn, which sucks!

posted a message on Railcraft 9.2.2.0
Hello! I've been trying to craft the wooden rails, but I can't get it to work for the life of me. I can't access with wikispaces page (access restricted) to check the recipe, and it's not listed in the other wiki linked from the main page.

Can anyone confirm the recipe? Otherwise, I'm wondering if it's some ID conflict with another mod, but I don't see any errors... I was also unable to craft the gold-plated gear for the steam engine. (If that's indicative of some related issue.)

    Thanks!

Edit: If anyone's wondering: wooden rails are made with a wooden tie and an iron ingot, which gives 6 wooden rails. The recipe for gears has also been updated, and now uses tin to make a basic central gear which is then combined with other metals for the various types.

posted a message on BuildCraft Resource Pack to match Minecraft's Style?
    Hey guys,

I want to add Buildcraft to my magic-oriented mod set because I like the the pipes and fluid mechanics, but I don't like the way it throws Minecraft's aesthetic out the window.

Are there any Resource Packs that address this? Make the machines look a bit more...rustic I guess? I've got Thaumcraft and EvilCraft as the main other elements, so you can imagine how that goes together with BuildCraft. Default resolution is best, but I'm open to any suggestions.

    Thanks!

Those aren't quarts blocks, they're IRON blocks. Opening a rip in space then dragging demons out of said rip isn't cheap.....

Hah! I didn't even consider that. Thanks for the info!

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to get into the demon summoning, but I can't craft the arcane plinth. I'm still on the 1.6.4 version. I'm using 6 quartz blocks like in the picture in the first post. Has this changed?

    Thanks!

I'm afraid that recipe picture is older then dirt. The current recipe is obsidian in the corners, reinforced slates between the obsidian, and the aprentice blood orb in the center.

Hah! Well, that would certainly explain the issue. Thanks a lot for letting me know!

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to get into the whole "ritual magic" part of things. I've got my Apprentice Blood Orb, and my obsidian. However, when I put 8 obsidian around the Apprentice Orb, nothing happens. Is the recipe not working? Am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

posted a message on Thaumcraft 6.1.BETA26 [no longer being developed]
    Hey Azanor!

TC is my absolute favourite mod. Been hooked since TC2. I stopped playing Minecraft for almost a year now, until I found out about TC4, which pulled me back in.

And now for the uninvited critique, because every idiot has an opinion!
Personally, I liked the TC3 research better, because it seemed to focus more on the collecting crap aspect of Minecraft than TC4 does. I do like that the scanning mechanic encourages players to build items that they might not otherwise, but I found it more frustrating than the TC3 system. (Late game I ran out of Ignis from crafting other aspects, and had to resort to dissecting massive amounts of netherrack to try to get more.)

That said, I like the rune puzzle game, I think it's more fun and research-y than all the previous concepts. (Also nice that squid ink also has more of a use, ha ha.) IMHO, some kind of hybrid of the TC3 item-based research and the TC4 rune system would be awesome.

I played on large biomes. In my world, I've been playing for probably over a hundred hours, and I still haven't found a Silverwood. (I ran into one Pech, but he tragically was killed when he ran into the middle of a lightning wand fight I was having with a skeleton spawner.) So, that's a bit frustrating, but not altogether unexpected with Large Biomes, I suppose.

The multi-part wand crafting system is pretty amazing. Love the focuses, love the idea of customizing the wands, and the different materials. Super cool. The focuses just make that better.

I also like the reintroduction of the vis piping. I really had fun with that in TC2, and I was a bit sad when it wasn't in TC3. But now it's back! Fantabulous.

One suggestion I would make would be the addition of more challenging enemies. (Yeah, this can be done with other mods, but it would be cool to have a TC4-themed super mobs or some such awesomeness.) The TC mods always really ramp up the power of the player, but then...what do you do with it, other than feel godly around all the wimpy little mobs? That said, the return of the Taint does provide this aspect in some ways. Those taint biomes are scary... (This was another aspect of TC2 I really loved which departed in TC3, and has now made a welcome return in TC4. Really glad to see it's back!)

I'd love to see a 1.7 update of Thaumcraft 4, and I can't wait to see where you take this mod next. Thanks too for all your hard work over the years; I've honestly played Thaumcraft more and harder than most AAA titles I've picked up.

Incredible work on the mod, Dr. Zhark. Thanks for all your time and effort!

Just upgraded from 1.4.7, and I'm excited to see all the various new options in the config files. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the three numbers mean for the mob frequencies. I:Bear <6:1:3>, for instance. Can anyone help me with that?

Try to reload your texturepack ?

I tried switching the texture pack back to default and removing optifine, but the wisps are still invisible. You can see the lightning, but not the little floating ball that should be there.
