And having it in the offhand slot can put more emphasis on different players' styles of play. Like, if you like fast combat you can use swords and gloves, and if you like strength in combat, you can use an enchanted ring instead, etc.

Nifty idea! But it may be tedious to bring so many materials, especially the water buckets, to build these.

Very elaborate and well-made guide as well. :iapprove:

All great ideas! I like that crafting recipe a lot more than my original plan. (Makes way more sense.)

Well, what if gloves were buffed, but replaced the chestplate slot? You'd be sacrificing defense for a damage boost.

That's actually a good idea, but the chestplate is your most valuable line of defense, and the gloves don't help enough to cover that. Maybe they would use up your offhand instead, so you can't hold shields or anything. Also using up the hand slot instead of the chestplate slot makes more sense to me.

Thanks for letting me know what it is. However, I still don't think he should obligate people to absolutely have it. If he wants to work with people he should a bit flexible.

That's a good point.

Maybe you should check other posts from players who're looking and what is discord even? I don't think many people know it and the fact that players must have it may 'scare' them away. Just giving my 2 cents.

If you don't know what Discord is, you haven't been on the internet in a while.

FYI it's a website where people can text and voice chat.

Muffin.. Saying something is balanced because it's easy for everyone to get it is entirely invalid. It's highly easy to download and install kill-aura, x-ray, or other mods usually called hacks. Anyone could do it. That means it must be the fault of the person who hasn't gotten one if they lose to someone who has. After all, hacks are so easy to download, so why hasn't he downloaded them yet? Something can't be considered balanced just because everyone can get it.

1) The download sites for hacked clients don't look trustable at all.
2) Gloves would be part of vanilla Minecraft, thus being even easier to get, without hassle at all.
3) I never said it was balanced because everyone can get it.
4) Hacked clients are entirely different from a small piece of armor in the game.

Your thread should have been titled "Gloves & Rings" and that's it. Someone calling their own points 'good' doesn't stop someone else from coming in here and disproving you. Pretty much everything that post #2 said. I don't see too much of a point in wearing these things.

I just said that because every other suggestion mentioning gloves didn't have actual points at all, and didn't elaborate on the idea. I never said it doesn't stop people from disproving me.

Quote from jdc997»

For all you people saying gloves would somehow make cooldown times longer: go outside and do some yard work with your bare hands and time yourself. Pull some weeds and dig a small hole. Notice that your hands hurt after a while and this slows you down. Now, wait until you've recovered, and at the same time of day, do it again with gloves.

I can say from experience that wearing gloves allows you to do manual labor faster--not much faster, but faster nonetheless. Steve doesn't get calluses or cuts on his hands, so the most realistic equivalent is to simply reduce cooldown times.

Anyway, as for whether I support this: I think gloves should increase the mining speed even when using tools, and rings should only be able to (by vanilla methods) accept one enchantment at level one, and should be incompatible with Sharpness and Fortune. However, I otherwise think that this would be a useful feature. So, Partial Support.

I agree with that statement.

they are nearly weightless, but make holding things alot harder. Have you ever worn boxing gloves and tried to hold a stick/sword and swung it? If anything it'll move slow and slide out of your hand.*

Plus reduced cooldown times is pretty OP. Lets say someone has a time of 1.0. Another guy has gloves so his is 0.9.
In 10 hits, one guy spent 10 seconds, while the other spent 9.0. A full second is pretty huge when it comes to pvp or any strategic game.**

* Well these obviously aren't boxing gloves I'm talking about.
** I think that would be the second person's fault. Gloves are so easy to make, so why hasn't he made them yet?

What makes no sense about gloves making cooldown times slower? It's adding extra weight to your hands that you have to move every time you want to attack.

I don't know if you guys realized, but gloves irl are practically weightless.

In the end this just seems somewhat overpowered, especially the ring. No support.

Yes, the ring does seem overpowered, I see that. But the glove? One point of protection, slightly increasing fist damage, and slightly reducing cooldown times is not overpowered.

All in all this idea doesn't fit in the game, and the recipes/uses are all pretty bad/only there as a filler item.

No support

- "They will look sort of like boots but on your hands. So squares?" Everything in the game is square. ' - '
- "You can dye them and they would be stylish. big squares on my hands aren't stylish ("they will sort of like boots")" If you dye them like I said, they could be when paired with matching leather clothes.
- "They would make weapon cooldown times a little faster. Realistically they would make cool-down times slower" That really makes no sense.
- "One point of armor protection (half a mini chestplate). Not really useful aside from just a bit of damage resistance" The damage resistance is the point.
Quote from TeamWoofel»

The rings, I'm not really a fan of as I don't think they would look great on the player's skins. Partial Support.

I agree with that part. I see now the ring idea was a bit silly.

GLOVES

You would craft them with leather, in this formation:

EDIT: Ouatcheur suggested (and I like): You can also craft with normal minerals used for crafting armor, to make gauntlets. But we will need new crafting recipe. I think just the materials in an L-shape would work.

What they would do:

• Mine blocks faster when punching them.
• Make punching a bit stronger when attacking mobs and players.
• One point of armor protection (half a mini chestplate).
• You can dye them and they would be stylish.
• They will look sort of like boots but on your hands.
• They would make weapon cooldown times a little faster.
• EDIT: Also would make attacking in general a bit faster.

RINGS

You would craft them with minerals such as iron, gold, and diamonds, just by putting one of them into a crafting table.

EDIT: Better crafting recipe: Gold nuggets in a v-shape, and some mineral in the top-middle.

What they would do:

• You can enchant them with things like Efficiency, Protection, other enchantments (Again, I'm up for suggestions).
• They also look stylish.

These would both be put in a new slot in the inventory, a knuckle slot.

EDIT: We have decided that a new slot was unnecessary, so putting the rings and the gloves into the offhand slot would make more sense, be more practical, and give more emphasis on strategic combat. (Like, sacrificing your ability to hold a shield or whatever to get an extra enchantment or to attack a bit faster)
