This is Mojang basically raising their hands into the corporate giant Microsoft and giving up what little control they have over the development of the game. There can be nothing good that can come out of this. If you're calm or even happy with this migration, you should really look deep into the implication of this.
I'm seriously disappointed that some of the community actually took optimism towards this. The cape is just a part of the scheme to distract the community.
Will this event be the thing that triggered Minecraft demise? Probably not, but it is another step that Microsoft has taken in order to control Minecraft more. Transforming Minecraft from what it should be to an husk stuffed with microtransactions and shady corporate decisions. Microsoft may meddle with Bedrock edition, but they should never meddle with the Java edition of the game
Go look up Microsoft's "embrace, extend, extinguish" strategy.

New ore texture is so weird and unnecessary. Grimstone texture doesn't tile correctly and say good bye to the good old meta of Y level 13.
New blocks are cool but I don't think that's a good indication for a good snapshot.
Just my opinion.

Mods added a ton more features than everything they showcased. A multibillion dollar company could barely touch the potential on what the community can do with Minecraft's underground

Perhaps, but there is bigger problem at Mojang's hand to handle
0
Yeah, the entire nether update is lackluster compared to what the community have done to the nether ages ago

I don't think that's a fair response bud since that's what Minecraft survival essentially is. Random generation? Random mob spawning? Random pillager patrol?

How about we ditch the idea of voting and instead implement all of them. If you think about it modder of Biomes o' Plenty (Glitchfiend) add tons of new biomes and for Mojang, a multibillion company mind you, to keep up with a single person would probably take them about 15 years.

Now this could be a way to make villages challenging

Why not just remove Phantom entirely? They're basically broken design made by an incompetent dev.

People who supports this suggestion really doesn't want people to have fun, huh? So many of these supporters released the argument of getting free loot and other stuff. But that is stupid because the same can be applied to a lot of mechanic. I could say having a skeleton grinder is cheating, so should Mojang just remove it since it is essentially getting loot for "free"? Or how about trading with the villagers? I could have a very big wheat, carrot, and potato farm, wait it up until all of it grows, harvest it using water, and then sell it to a village farmer and get tons of emeralds and XP which i can use to get different stuff. And bear in mind the fact that I could just afk in order to wait for the crops to grow. Should Mojang remove crops or remove farmer villager? Or maybe based on the argument the supporter presented, Mojang should entirely remove trading entirely since it is essentially getting stuff for "free" (free as if those crops would still grow without player intervention).
Some of the supporters also presents themselves as if the the game should be balanced to suit their need. As if they're balance is something absolute and does not have a bit of flaw. Fundamentally speaking, games should be fun. It is their main purpose. If you'd sacrifice people's fun for the sake of something abstract and arbitrary as "balance" then perhaps there's something wrong with you. AFK fishers do not ruin other people's fun. It does not give them a sword that reach 20 blocks that can kill anyone. It does not make their base look better. If everyone is having fun with this mechanic that some of you deem broken, why not just deal with it and leave it alone?

People must've loved it if you're being a game designer. You're starting to sound like those shady game designer trying to justify anti-customer practice. By your logic, doesn't every argument you give previously is worthless because you are part of the community you so belittle of. Good job c1ff.

Except no one has any problem with the removal of duplication glitch because people thought that glitch is inherently broken. AFK fishing? people have been using it for years and there's no sign of stopping them. We can clearly see in this thread that players like AFK fishing as part of the game and doesn't want them to disappear. You don't have the right to impose how the community plays the game, the community does. Also, you're comparing apples and oranges mate.
But now Minecraft has a fish mob that the player can see, why aren't Mojang changing fishing? Maybe because Mojang subconsciously knows that changing old mechanic will always be bad and will result in chaos within the community.
"How can steve carries lots of heavy anvil, Steve should get slowness 3 and mining fatigue whenever he carries 1 anvil!"

You haven't explained why the frist is better than the aether and why the aether is such a bad idea. Instead, you spouted how the Aether is "too moddy" or a "direct ripoff of the nether" without giving a detailed explanation. Also not realizing the fact that we could still redesign the Aether entirely to fit within Minecraft vanilla. We don't even have to name it Aether damn it.

How about removing curse enchantment entirely?

Personally I only accept the Aether as the pinnacle of a "fourth dimension" that can only exist. The features presented in the dimension is very messy and doesn't fit each other (in one case you have robot, in another case you have snow dinosaur). Compare that to the Aether with the majestic aerwhale and the angelic Valkyries that fit within the heaven themed dimension. I'd recommend scraping the gear and everything connected it.

I think the charm of Minecraft for new player is discovering how they play through Internet or watching tutorial videos for example. Adding in tutorial would ruin that magic and just makes Minecraft a mediocre survival game with nothing unique.
