The point is that when you want to drive them you turn them off automatic pilot and drive the,.
when you can't be there to drive them, you leave them on automatic for others to see go by and stop at stations..
what's not to like about that ?
To add to that point, you could still drive and have other trains to meet along the way/interact with.
It's not just automation you could control.. You could set up "Positive Train Control" as it's called, which is basically a backup system that will shut off power to a loco if passing a signal with the incorrect aspect. Alternatively, I hear the switches were at one point planned for redstone control, which would allow full signal boxes. I am curious to see how the switches will be controlled though if that feature is still being implemented.
Ok, as far as my help goes, I can't offer much in modeling. However, if you have any technical questions on locomotives or live steam, let me know. I would love to be able to help more, but I don't know modeling. Good luck, and I really hope this mod takes off!
While that would be interesting to see in operation, I would imagine there are people out there who would like Dual Gauge Track to be in the mod to save space, time, and materials. If that's the case, I'm wondering how it would be pulled off, let alone if it was possible and reasonable.
There's a lot to be considered when it comes to dual gauge track. Not only are the switches more complicated, Narrow gauge track and standard gauge will likely divide at some point if they connect. Not to mention, there's been cases where companies have built their dual gauge track with the "middle" rail on opposite ends. In those cases, one section of narrow gauge track would shift left or right to accommodation the other section.
While we're on the subject of trackage, may I ask if we are going to see a "Stub" switch in this mod, or is it just going to be the style Naiten currently has set up?
Dual gauge would be fun, but you would really have to have traincraft and rails of war coordinate for that. I would be happy to see the 2 mods together, but again, I am not going to complain or ask for it.
The PRR T1 would be a pretty engine to have, but I think Naiten has other projects in mind. The mod looks good, and the new curves will be realistic. Keep up the good work!
