Minecraft name: Locohead
List any previous bans: None
How far must you build from others: Far enough to no longer be on their land (see below), unless permission is sought & given
Explain our policy on players' land: A player build effectively claims the entire biome or island it is built on. You must not build on or harvest from another player's land without permission.
Other important stuff not asked for: I am 38; looking for an 18+ survival server with a friendly community!

What do you hope for out of this server: Looking for a fun vanilla MC server with a positive community!
Your play style: Obsessive?
Your time zone: Eastern
How often daily/weekly would you play: Several hours a day (maybe more on days off)
Something interesting about you: I wrote a program to convert images to MC block patterns, guess those wouldn't be welcomed here but I can build other things instead
Jul 29, 2014Here are the major mods I've played out & don't want to use this time around: Galacticraft, Tinker's Construct, MystcraftPosted in: Discussion
Looking for some new and interesting mods to try out. Ones with content that would appeal to a very small server (2 or 3 players, most likely.) Suggestions appreciated, thanks.
May 3, 2014Update - it's working now. I misunderstood the chisel, thinking it added textures rather than adjusting them. However, I am certain I was not able to add block textures before (by right-clicking with things like cobble) and this primarily caused the confusion. (Well, also the lack of a clear & up-to-date tutorial...)Posted in: Minecraft Mods
I still have no idea how to make a carpenter's fence, and that bugs me because I really want to use them. Can you tell me what the carpenter's fence recipe should be in 2.0.8? The "boat" orientation of 5 sticks does nothing, 6 sticks makes a normal fence. Tried "helmet" orientation of 5 sticks, tried using carpenter's blocks, can't get a carpenter's fence.
Tried versions incrementally. The "boat" shape 5-stick recipe works through 2.0.2, and no longer works in 2.0.3. Do I need to use 2.0.2 or is there a new recipe that works?
Nevermind. Just installed NEI so I could see the recipe. Somehow didn't try that combination of 2 sticks + 2 carpenters blocks. I think I'll keep NEI, within 10 seconds it's already been very helpful, heh.
A comment though... you really change your recipes too much.
May 3, 2014Cannot get the chisel working. I'm using forge 184.108.40.2065, for Minecraft 1.6.4. Tried Carpenter's Blocks mod v2.0.8, also 2.0.7 and 2.0.6 just to see if it was a bug in 2.0.8. I can make and use the hammer, make and use most of the carpenters blocks (though the fence recipe eludes me), but the chisel does absolutely nothing. I make the carpenter's chisel with 1 iron above 1 carpenter's block. It has no effect at all. I've removed all other mods, made a new world, no change.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Apr 29, 2014Kind of lame with no mods allowed. I guess they have to start somewhere, but many of us PC users are bored with vanilla MC and playing mods at this point. Hopefully it won't take too long for some mods to be supported. Even if it's just a few popular modpacks at first, that would be a good start.Posted in: Minecraft News
Apr 15, 2014Sign me up! And hopefully save a slot for my friend, I messaged him about it.Posted in: PC Servers
Bit of advice though -- I've tried a stripped down version of the moonquest mods for my own crappy server. On researching it I found that having Biomes o Plenty (which I normally like to have) causes unfortunate things... specifically plants and things all over the moon. My friend said that on the Yogscast they had to have someone prepare the moon first in creative mode by manually wiping out all of the "moon plants." So ... something to think about, whether you really want BoP or not. Who knows, maybe they fixed it, you can check.

Just because an update is of no interest to you doesn't mean that it is to others.
If you are sick of constantly waiting for mod makers to update to the newest version than here's a tip:
Do not update your Minecraft client with these "unnecessary' updates since obviously you don't need it and keep your modded version.
Brilliant. Except you're now cut off from 99% of MP servers. Where patches go, almost everyone goes. We don't have much of a choice.
Dec 15, 2013Looking for a new survival server to play on.Posted in: Server Recruitment
- "Grief Prevention" or similar for build & chest protection -- if this is planned but you're waiting for plugin updates, that's fine too.
- 1.7.2+ map
- I'd prefer mostly vanilla (a few mods/plugins are OK.) However, I'd be up for some mods if they're fun and don't take away from the survival experience, but add to it. I do like some of the biome and creature mods!
About me: I've played MC for 1-2 years, I like harvesting and will put a lot of work into public projects like roads and spawn, etc. However, I've put a lot of work in on several servers just to find out it was all wasted. I'd like to find a place where work would be appreciated and count towards something!
Nov 10, 2013AntOfThy - I've been searching for a seed with all biomes within ~6k of spawn (or as close as possible) on large biomes. Message me privately if you find one.Posted in: Seeds
KayaDash - The seed "mushmushmush" gives you a large mushroom island near the map center, and has bryce mesa west and ice spikes east, although they are a couple km out even on normal biomes.
Oct 28, 2013MrLoco posted a message on Any tool to locate biomes? If not, how to make one?First off, yes I know about Amidst. I've been using it in 1.7.2 to try to find a server seed which would have all (or almost all) biomes within a certain radius. I can check about 5 or 6 new seeds per minute this way. No luck yet.Posted in: Minecraft Tools
I was wondering if a faster tool existed to speed up this process (mass-searching seeds for specific biome configurations) or how hard it would be to make one? I have coding experience in C/C++. If someone could get me started with how to access the 1.7.2 biome generation code (like Amidst presumably accesses) I could probably write it. Thanks!

That may actually be the smart way to go, to get our monies. Not the ending MC part (they should keep MC1 going for a while) but releasing a MC2. How many hours have you played MC? Wasn't it worth a lot more than $25? Wouldn't a really good MC2 be worth $60? Of course it would. It's all going to come down to whether they can do it right. Having invested 2.5 billion, they will be highly motivated to try their hardest to get it right. I'm neither optimistic or pessimistic about it. I think it could be great or not. If not, there's a billion other games, and many of them will be designed as replacements for MC.

Why pay for something that you can easily do for yourself through a little bit of Port-Forwarding. Most people could easily host a 2-5 player Server for free.
And run it 24/7? So you're investing an extra PC and running it 24/7 including the power and maintenance, and that's "free." K.
Mar 20, 2013Abandon Java? HAHHAHAHAHA good luck with that pipe dream. They've already sold 10 million copies and are swimming in money, why would they remake the game? You think they actually care about the lag we're getting? As long as they can make some small tweaks and make things barely tolerable that's what's going to continue to happen.Posted in: News
Oh, and they only wanted to hire Mr. Optifine on contract, they refused to hire him full time and he refused to give up his full-time job for contract work, so that's not happening.
Mar 15, 2013Posted in: NewsQuote from MamiyaOtaru
They offered. They couldn't come to an agreement
True, I looked it up. Mojang only wanted to hire the guy on contract, but he wasn't going to quit his job for contract work. How many millions of $$$ has Minecraft made? And they won't pay to hire 1 guy on a full-time position to optimize the game and do other stuff. What a joke.
Mar 15, 2013Posted in: NewsQuote from VagossssssssssWere the heck did you see that? He just says if a modder team (alone) can improve the minecraft performance why then the professional mojang team can't do that?
Exactly. So even the pathetic "blah blah code it yourself" argument we always see, when anyone raises any complaints about any game or program, falls apart. Because it's been done. It's called Optifine. Many people run Optifine because of the massively improved framerate and other options it offers. That means there's no excuse for 6 months of declining frame rates which have now fallen off a cliff.
Quote from VagossssssssssI'm just saying they made a fail about the FPS. They just forgot it, because I'm sure they have the best computers so they get no lag at all. So they don't know how minecraft runs in a normal computer
This is probably true. Mojang should buy a couple $150 computers on craigslist and add them to their testbed. Maybe if they see how the average person is running the game they'd code the game properly. Then again, part of me thinks they're too busy enjoying their millions of $$ to care about anything. That's why we just see "cool features" to perhaps get the attention of new players, rather than efficient code and fps improvement to keep the existing players happy. I've already spent my money so now I don't matter.
Mar 15, 2013Posted in: NewsQuote from Random_Guy_32
That's exactly the problem. The Optifine developers don't want Optifine to be part of the vanilla game, so jeb_ and Dinnerbone have to spend even more time on optimizations by improving performance themselves.
So some guys making a performance-enhancing mod for Minecraft are at fault because they don't hand their work over to Mojang. Apparently they hold special keys to optimizing Java code that is just somehow inaccessible to people at Mojang.
How about Mojang codes it properly in the first place? How about putting the responsibility of making Minecraft run correctly on the heads of the people making it and profiting off of it? Good god.
The state of Minecraft right now is inexcusable. These updates should have never been released. And I'm not just talking about 1.5. Basically all the updates in the past half-year have hacked away at the framerate, and it's like Mojang doesn't care at all. FPS has been slightly worse, slightly worse still, and now with 1.5 it's terribly worse. We shouldn't need quad-core and 8 gigs of RAM just to run a pixelated block world. And even then to run it poorly. Pitiful.

I FRICKIN' KNEW IT. Yep, I was right as usual. Wish I wasn't. Now I have to mine nether quartz while enduring the usual nether-lighting-lag barf.

- Slight optimizations to lighting
- Map item placed in item frame experiences Z-fighting
- Nametag of certain mobs too low / too high
- Team colors/prefixes/suffixes are not displayed with "@a, @p\, @r"
... that's it?? It probably took longer to type that post than it took them to fix those bugs. 4 tiny bug fixes in like 10 days, and "still working on the lighting engine" which has been "worked on" forever and I doubt will ever happen.

Get Xamio sound pack mod for the old minecraft sounds. Its easy to install.
This is a failed argument which I can easily destroy.
Imagine they changed all the textures to solid pink. All the sounds to fart sounds. All the villagers to giant rendered middle fingers. Millions of people are forced to patch this to play vanilla. Millions of people subjected to a bunch of stupid garbage and each forced to individually accept it or fix it. They have no right to complain about that? Yes, actually they do. Millions of people have a right to complain when you make them fix things Mojang broke.
Also, it is undeniable that most people will not do these modifications. Look beyond your own selfishness for a single second of your life. We are not just arguing against these sound changes because we are lazy about altering what WE hear. We are arguing against the sound changes because it will affect millions of people who AREN'T going to change the sounds, many of them may be new players or casual players who will just be suffering through the new sounds.
Minecraft sounds changed and why? What is the justification? Minecraft has sold millions of copies. It isn't a BETA anymore. Heck, even when it was a "beta" it was an established and popular game, loved by millions. It's too late to change basic things about the game. It's doing more harm than good. The classic sounds are an institution, they are part of the identity of Minecraft. I have a right to complain about them wrecking the identity of Minecraft, regardless of what I choose to have go into my own eyes or ears.
