Edit: Hello? Anybody here?

Edit: Oh, come ON! Doesn't anyone read this thread anymore?!

Seriously?! That's 30 minutes! There's a word here, which I think you need to be aware of. It's PATIENCE. Most of the forums I go to, you're lucky to get a reply within 24 hours. You expect an immediate response? Why? 30 minutes is absolutely nothing, when you realize there's 24 hours in a day (therefore, 48 different sets of 30 minute intervals). Please, hold on to your horses, and exercise some patience. It won't kill you. Unless you're in the emergency room, waiting for a heart transplant. Patience could, theoretically, kill you then. But since this is only a game, it's pretty unlikely that situation applies here. I waited months and months for this mod. I don't care how old you are, or how long you've been waiting for this mod, but if I can wait 3-6 months for an update (without complaining!) you can wait a couple of hours for someone to respond to your forum post.... Don't worry, the mod is being worked on. Geez.... Mouser X over and out.

I've got SMPPR2P3 version of PTM in the same directory as my vanilla minecraft_server.jar version 1.6.6

This mod is not yet compatible to Minecraft 1.6.6 yet. You'd need to be running 1.5_01 to use this mod. Hopefully, the update will be uploaded/finished soon (this weekend?). Most likely, that's your problem (using a version of Minecraft that is not compatible to this mod). Mouser X over and out.

I'm surprised there aren't any other mods out there thay break the height limit. Is it something thats very very difficult to do now? Ymod is 'old'. 1.3 I think.

When Bucyruss very first started this mod (back in October or November), his end goal was to increase the build height of Minecraft. On his way to doing so, he learned and discovered a lot about Minecraft's terrain generation, and thus created this mod. However, he also learned that the build height is *EXTREMELY* hard-coded. That is, it's not some "simple" variable change. Parts of the code are set as "0-127", some are set as "1-128", others are things like "(1-64)*2" and other oddball stuff, and some aren't set at all. Meaning, the code expects a limit of 128, and thus puts forth no effort to define the limit, or check, or anything. To increase the height limit is extremely difficult. If there's any mods that do it, at all, then you'd be best off decompiling it, and figuring out what they did. It's a pretty big deal, if they were successful in increasing the build height. Seriously, this is no small task, and certainly something I wouldn't be hoping for anytime soon (if ever). Mouser X over and out.

Quote from DJ Persnikity

"There's good news and bad news on the spawning front, good news is, they will spawn in naturally now. Bad news is, it's either really, really rare or waaaaay too common, and I'm not talking "Oh I saw 20 koi at once", I'm talking thousands."
-Kerik

I've been attempting to use this mod (and its updates) ever since it updated to 1.6.6, but my game was unplayable every time, due to this. Thousands and thousands of fish are spawning. So much so, that Minecraft has crashed a few times. I've been using old saves (some of them originate from Minecraft "creative", so they're really old), and one of them has a lake that's more than 40 blocks deep. There were so many fish spawning, they were literally pushing each other out of the water. I've been meaning to post about this for a few days, but since I don't have internet at home, my time online is limited, and I've never had time to post about it before. I'm glad to see that you've noticed it. That said, I was going to request an "overll spawn limit" or something in the settings, since altering the properties file makes no difference (when I set everything to 0, Minecraft crashed...).

On the topic of spawning though, I feel I should mention that, in 1.6.6, I have yet to encounter any mobs, except chickens.... I play on peaceful, so there is that, but even without your mod running/installed, I still only ever get chickens. I'm using the "303 unlocked Notch Skyworlds" wr.class file, and I have yet to revert to the original wr.class file, so my suspicions are that there might be something wrong with the modified world generator. Obviously, I don't expect you to look into it. I only mention it, because maybe there's a bug in "default" Minecraft (well, "default" excluding that I'm using a modified terrain generator) that you've run into, and it'd be easier to test the problems with slightly different settings (aka, the modified wr.class file). Either way, I love the fish! I look forward to their spawning becoming reasonable, so that I can see them swimming around my underwater glass dome (I use the BiomeTerrain Mod/Pheonix Terrain Mod to get *much* deeper waters, so even though the dome is 11 blocks tall, the top is still more than 15 blocks from the surface). Thank you so much! Water mobs are definitely my favorite, since I prefer to spend my time underwater anyway (I have a mod for that too, since otherwise I can't hold my breath long enough).

Oh, one last thing. As I mentioned, I'm using the Notch floating islands wr.class file. Due to the extreme mob spawn bug, it's hilarious to see the fish jettison out of a waterfall, into the void.... Often, I would kill all the fish in a small "Notch pond" (the BiomeTerrain Mod calls them this, because it implemented a method of creating its own lakes, before Notch added his own), and then leave. I'd turn back around to look at the pond, and it would already be full of fish again!! I definitely look forward to this being fixed.... Though, admittedly, it will be disappointing to no longer see fish flying/falling through the air to their doom.... Mouser X over and out.

When I tried to download them in Opera, it saved it as a *.gz file, so yes, it's compressed. Beyond that, I don't know what's inside it. On the discussion of the BBOB editor though, would you mind adding a scroll bar to the editor field? Although large files are a bad idea (I realize the problems, more or less), it'd still be helpful in case I ever get crazy ideas again. Thanks again for your great tool. I've been using it to "convert" Notch trees into "Gloom" trees (they're only supposed to spawn in darkness, on stone. The idea being that they're a type of plant which, oddly, adapted to life in total darkness).

I've been using this mod since Beta 1.3!

And I've been using it since October of 2010, back when all it did was modify biomes. Seriously, this mod is awesome. I completely agree that the current Minecraft terrain generation is far too dull. I love this mod, and when it stopped updating (when beta first came out), I stopped playing Minecraft. Now that it's being updated again, I can start playing again!

Regarding the "BOB" system, the potential it holds is amazing. I have a *.schematic of a "SUPER EPIC TREE HOUSE" (it's 85x83x70. For it to "fit" in the world, the bottom needs to be 6 blocks below the surface) which I hope to convert to a BO2 file, but the BOB schematic converter won't work on it. :sad.gif: That said, I must add the note that the tree IS NOT MINE. Someone uploaded a world save about a year ago, and I downloaded it. Based on how "patched together" the world is (you can see obvious incongruities in the chunk generation), I strongly suspect that parts of it were built in "Creative", indev, and infdev (you can see where some buildings have new blocks, where other buildings should have those blocks, but don't (they created a substitute instead)). Very cool tree house, which would make an awesome BOB file (but, truthfully, at 85x83x70, it's a bit much... But I still want to try it).

The old "underground lakes" system no longer works (although the setting is still in the file), so the BOB system could, theoretically, be used to replace it. I'd like to do so, but it's harder to create lakes in the BBOB editor than I realized. Currently, it shows a "shadow" of the level below it. That's very useful, but since I'm starting my lakes at ground level, and working my way down, it makes it difficult to place the blocks appropriately. Perhaps that could be configurable? "Show "shadow" of blocks below/above current level" or something? How about the ability to import *.schematic files? The old command-prompt version won't accept my (very large....) file, so an alternative would be helpful....

Anyway, I love this mod. Thank you SO MUCH for updating it! I look forward to its (eventual. Take your time) release! Mouser X over and out.

The only request I have for BBOB is to make the 15x15 field optional. Meaning, what if I want to create something that's 128x128? I realize that the larger it is, the longer it takes to load (thus, honestly, 128x128 is pretty ridiculous. I'm using it as an example). Nonetheless, I'd like to create objects that are larger than 15x15 (in this instance, it's mostly because I want to create lakes, since the old method no longer works). Perhaps an option can be added to the mod (that would be off by default) that could exclude/include the larger objects? Anyway, that's the only request I have right - a larger than 15x15 grid to work with.

Thanks for your awesome tool. I appreciate the work you guys put into this mod (and the tools). I LOVE THIS MOD! Thanks again. Mouser X over and out.

The default is 30/60 (min/max), so I assumed that was a reasonable size. I'll try something absolutely crazy-high (probably something like 5000/10,000 min/max) next time I make a new world, and see what happens.

In truth, I still have the old mod, and a version of Minecraft that is compatible to it. Maybe I should fire it up, and fiddle with the settings. Once I get something figured out, I can see how those settings transfer over to this mod. I really hope this part of the code is still working.... I liked finding them in caves. They *can* be generated above ground (people did it a lot back when Bycuss was around), but maybe he changed that part of the code (initially, they could spawn in mid-air, which caused lots of... odd "balls" of water floating in the sky, with a torrential waterfall below them).

Thanks for your response. I guess I'll have to load up a pre-beta version of Minecraft, and see what happens. Mouser X over and out.

I got Minecraft pre-beta 1.2.5 running, with BiomeTerrainMod installed, and I attempted to create some underground lakes with a min/max of 5000/10000. This is a bad idea.... It wasn't until I used 500/999 that it even *seemed* like it might work (it still crashed (stack overflow), but it generated chunks at least). At 250/500, it worked, but took probably 3 times longer to load (and longer still for it to display the terrain once loaded). So, knowing that it worked in Minecraft 1.2.5, I loaded up Minecraft 1.5_01. Underground Lakes definitely *DO NOT* work with this version of the mod. In 1.2.5, using a map viewer, the lakes were blatantly obvious to find (they were very large, and were spawning everywhere. In the trees, on top of other lakes, above ground, etc.). Whereas, in 1.5_01, there weren't any lakes (excluding the surface ocean) to find anywhere, of any kind (I had disabled notch ponds). Also worth mentioning, the 1.2.5 lakes definitely generate a pocket of air above themselves. And they are oblong/football shaped, with the water level at around 1/2 full.

That said, spawning custom lakes is "fixable" using the BOB/BOB2 plugins. Create a lake in the BBOB editor, and give it resoable settings. Theoretically, it should spawn your custom created lakes, instead of trees. Personally, I'd prefer the original method be fixed (since you can change the size of the lakes "on the fly" through the settings, rather than relying on a prebuilt one), but under the circumstances, the BOB system is an acceptable substitute, I suppose. Though, I'd like to see lakes that are larger than 15x15 (which is what the current size of BOB files are, I think).

So... any chance that the original method will be fixed? Or, more likely, will it be removed entirely, in favor of BOB lakes? Mouser X over and out.

Have you checked out the Settings thread?

Lots of cool stuff there if you haven't

Underground lakes; Your lakes are too small. They're going to be hard to find. I assume a size of 20 is 20 blocks of water. It's more likely a multiplier of a 'normal' UngLake, but I don't know what a normal sized one is. I've seen single blocks of water to 10 deep 20x15 lakes.

20 blocks is a 4x5x1 pond. A 70 block lake is a 6x6x2. really small. You'd be lucky to chance across one.

Even the huge ones will be hard to find unless you have a decent cave system in place.

They spawn in solid rock unless by chance your cave settings are appropriate to co-exist with them. Also the lakes currently don't have any air pockets above them so finding one involves being at the exact level of the water. Tough to find. Play with the cave and lake settings some more. Bump up the size, as if you find them too big, at least you found them, and it's easier to tone down a large easier to find lake then trying to find a small one.

Personally I have the min/max set to 60/260 , the freq at 5 and the rarity at 5

The default is 30/60 (min/max), so I assumed that was a reasonable size. I'll try something absolutely crazy-high (probably something like 5000/10,000 min/max) next time I make a new world, and see what happens. As for the code itself, I remember back in the original thread, that Bycuss talked about the underground lake generation. It's been months, so I don't remember much, but what I recall is that it does check to see if it's a valid spawning location (mainly, does it spawn in the air? There might have been more, but I can't remember). If it's valid, it creates a "lake" that is football shaped (or oblong/oval-ish). I thought he mentioned that it created an air pocket above it, but I can't remember. It might have been a request from someone.

In truth, I still have the old mod, and a version of Minecraft that is compatible to it. Maybe I should fire it up, and fiddle with the settings. First things first:

OH THANK YOU!!! Back when Bycuss (I think that's how it's spelled) was updating the mod, I said something like "I love this mod! If this mod stops getting updated, I'll probably stop playing Minecraft." Which I did. Though, not entirely because this mod stopped being updated, though it was a factor.

I am SO GLAD! to see that someone picked it back up! I probably haven't been on the forums since mid-December (like I said, I haven't played Minecraft since this mod stopped being updated, but for multiple reasons), but when I saw that this mod was still available, I shouted with happiness!

That said, I was playing with the BiomeTerrain settings, and I although I could disable the Notch ponds, I was unable to ever find any of the "underground lakes" mentioned in the settings file. I set it to "true", and the min-height to 0, and the max-height to 128 (with min-size at 20, and max at 70). I even set "spawn in air" to "true", and I gave the frequency/rarity settings 2/5, 100/5, 100/100, and 2/100 (all respectively), and I never saw any "underground" lakes. Is that feature still working? If yes, could someone give me some suggestions on how to verify that it's working, or settings that will get me some lakes? What I was hoping for, was to get it to spawn some lakes/ponds on top of mountains. That way, I could then have a mountain top lake, with a water fall down the side.

Honestly though, I love this mod. It's part of my "core" Minecraft. I use it to increase the depth of my water (I want to build a "Craft-lantis"), without increasing the water table/height. It's also SUPER awesome that you've been able to expand on the original "custom trees" idea. Now, I can create my own plant life to spawn underwater (eventually), and even create buildings/rooms to spawn randomly throughout the landscape, or dungeons to randomly spawn in caves. Abandoned dwarf cave-city? Yes! Abandoned pilgrim settlement? Yes! Treehouses (rarely) randomly throughout the forests? YES YES YES! (Hopefully a "super tree" can be constructed. I have a save file (created by someone else) that has a MASSIVE tree house in it. I wouldn't doubt that it's 4-6 chunks wide/long. Something like that would be astounding!)

Awesome mod, thank you so much! I look forward to 1.6 compatibility, and the usage of the BO2 files! I've been working on one of my own, but so far, it doesn't look very good. Anyway, hopefully someone can tell me about the "underground lakes", and why they might not be working (as near as I can tell). Thanks again, and thanks in advance to the answer to my question. Mouser X over and out.

posted a message on [MEGATHREAD] Map's / Install/Map upload guide.[Starter Maps]
Hopefully I haven't already posted some of these, but here they are, in case I haven't -

The Labyrinth 2 - Another "Survival" type map, where it has specific rules to see how long you can last, or if you can complete the challenge.

Dungeon Maniac - You'll have to look at the description in that thread. I assume it's an Adventure/Survival type map.

Treasure Hunt - In this map, some treasure is hidden, and there's clues (using signs and other means) that you need to follow to find the threasure.

Largest Map ever - This is a compilation map, created by lots and lots of different people, but pieced together by CreeperDaReeper. It contains most of the maps I've seen posted on these forums recently.

My Dungeon v2 - My guess is that this used to be version 1, but they "upgraded" it to version 2 when they did some modifications. I don't know how this one differs from 3 and 4.
My Dungeon v3 - and
My Dungeon v4 - Another Adventure/Survival type map. Apparently, this is version 4. I've included links for version 2, and 3, because in their post, they linked version 2 incorrectly.

CyanWorld - This map was created for a request. As such, my assumption is that it's a large, flat, thick map.

Overkill Model 17 cannon schematic - This is saved in the *.schematic format, which is used by MCedit. Thus, to use this, you'll need to download/install MCedit, open your world/save, and import this schematic into your world.

Water map - It's the 3rd post down. This is almost certainly useless to almost everyone. However, it is a map, so I linked it. I haven't attempted to use it, but it most likely would either need to be opened by an old version of Minecraft, or a map editor for an old version of Minecraft, such as Omen. MCedit might be able to open it as well, since it says it can import older levels, so that you can then use those older levels in the new (current) Minecraft maps.

Pre-Halloween World - Named such, because it resembles the worlds that Minecraft often generated before the Halloween update. After that update, the worlds Minecraft generates are less likely to have as many overhangs, cliffs, and arches.

Jump and Ladders - Another Adventure/Survival map, with a slight twist. This time, the main challenge is gravity. Can you get to the top?

Flat map - Someone requested a completely flat map, and someone responded. It's possible this has been linked before....

That's all I have for now. Hopefully, someone finds this useful. Mouser X over and out.

I would also suggest trying out the BiomeTerrain Mod. It might not quite do the job (100% flat), but it can probably get close. Even if it can't, it can do some pretty neat things. You an also try looking at this thread (READ THE COMMENTS, especially those near the end of the thread), as there's "Flat Maps" posted in it.

Well, I have no intention of creating my own map thread, and updating it. So, I quoted your original post, and edited it to fix it.

What did I fix? I added forum links to all the maps (at least, that I could find), fixed your youtube links, and made the whole thing more consistent. I even added a few maps you missed. To make things easier on you, just click "SELECT ALL", and then copy+paste the stuff below into the original post.

Hello Everyone I am hoping to create a Megathread of all the maps the community here and elsewhere has created and put all in one place.

I am trying to make it divided into catagories such as Adventure, Dungeon, Natural etc.

I want everyone to here to post their map and I will add it ASAP. I don't care if it stinks or amazing.
I don't have any maps yet so I am using some I have found.

Survival Maps
What is this: The idea with these maps is to see how long you can survive given the limited resources and area available to you.
Rueles:
1. Don't leave the area.
2. Play on at least Normal difficulty.
3. No using peaceful to heal.
4. No hacking or using inventory or map editors =\ Don't ruin the fun! =P

Although I did spend a few hours on this, I still suggest you look it over, and make sure it looks right. You'll also notice that not all of the maps have download links. Personally, I think you should remove the download links here (except for those that don't have an appropriate source thread, such as JX23's map) anyway, but since this is your thread, you can do it how you want. The reason I would suggest removing the download links is because occasionally the original map creator updates their maps, and the links change. Also, sometimes maps are added to their threads, that aren't posted here. And the last reason is, if anyone has a problem with a map, they should post about that problem in the original map thread. By removing the download links here, it would encourage people to visit the original thread (to get the map), and thus possibly post in that thread. It would also make it significantly less likely that they'd be asking questions in this thread, when in most cases, they're not your maps, so it's unlikely you'll be able to help them much.

Last, you've already created a thread in the Mapping & Modding section (in case you forgot, it's here). Why not just use that thread, and update it when you update this one? It'd be as easy as updating this thread, and copying+pasting the original post (of this thread, once edited) to your Mapping & Modding section thread.

Anyway, I've cleaned up the OP somewhat, though if you wanted to, it could use some slight reorganization (some maps might be a better fit in different sections). I hope you find this useful. If I post maps, it'll be in the Mapping & Modding section, most likely in this thread, unless you start updating your Maps thread in that forum section (see link in above paragraph). Mouser X over and out.
