Space exploration wouldn't be out of place in a game like this but each of the individual planets or moons that could be visited would need something interesting to encourage people to visit them.
We don't even need spacecrafts to be added to the game to make this practical, just add portals and players could build stargates to each individual planet or moon worth visiting.
Imagine if the moon Europa and the planet Jupiter got added to the game, while Jupiter shouldn't be habitable in the game, and nor should Europa without any gear that protected players from the conditions there, Europa could have an interesting landscape on it, having the distant stars still be visible even during the day time in the sky, and the majority of the surface being covered with ice with liquid water underneath.
Mars could be made already terraformed, giving it Earth-like features and biomes, and likewise it could have the same hostile mobs spawning there as on Earth, but it could also have abandoned Martian buildings, only some containing villagers, adding a bit of mystery to it, implying that alien technology had already terraformed the planet long before the time period players were there.
Europa would be interesting. I much prefer portals and stargates to spaceships. Europa could be covered by a vast frozen ocean with unique ice-based biomes. Ice aliens and ice based mobs. Jupiter covering half of the sky, and of course it would be tidally locked so day-night cycles last a lot longer.
Mars would be interesting as Terraformed, I imagine it would have vast areas similar to the Mesa Biome, but more liveable. Abandoned Martian buildings and portals leading to other planets and moons. I would suggest that Phobos and Deimos be able to be visited as well, although the world can physically be smaller since those moons are so tiny.
I hope that in the future Roleplaying can come back. I wasn't the best roleplayer back in the day, but I still have fond memories here. Maybe one day that can happen again here.
Not really, and I would agree with being able to access the moon, while not technically counted as another dimension, it could be treated as one by game design for the purposes of simplicity.
It has been done in the Galacticraft mod, why shouldn't it be done as a legitimate feature? there are other options to add in dimensions but personally I consider the idea of allowing players to reach the moon just by climbing blocks a horrible idea, as it would only be accessible at night time and it would likely mean adding in a build height of several hundreds of thousands of blocks, making the whole process tedious.
It would be better to allow the moon to be accessed via some portal,
but then we are going to need some new enchantments to be added to make at least a little bit of sense out of
how players are able to survive in such a hostile environment.
Anti Radical could be added as a new enchantment to protect against radiation,
And adding another enchantment called Moon Walker could grant immunity to the vacuum of space and thus suffocation,
but be made incompatible with Respiration enchantments. Anti Radical could be obtained from Villager Trades or dungeons in Overworld of course, while the Moon Walker enchantment could be exclusive to UFO crash sites on the moon.
should there be hostile mobs on the moon? perhaps,
but first we need to make the environment liveable before considering this.
The Galacticraft Mod as far as I know seems to be no longer updated? I feel like Minecraft should incorporate something like it into the actual game itself. Perhaps with it's own planets and Moons. I would suggest for the Moon in Minecraft to have multiple biomes and to actually be habitable in certain areas. The Moon should have an atmosphere, I think that would be interesting.
That's a good idea, they get the option to make themselves more powerful than what the current official game offers, but in so doing, they bring on bigger threats onto themselves, meaning the game doesn't automatically become easier when they obtain the best gear, there are caveats or strings attached.
and they can't blame Mojang for taking advantage of a feature that was entirely optional, with this players who are focused on building and exploring and less about combat, they may not want to take on this challenge so they would be advised not to use this higher tier armour, but everyone else, professional players or players who don't care about doing amazing builds all that much, but are more adventurous and want to fight tougher enemies and complete every challenge in the game, they can upgrade to this elite tier armour, but then they cause tougher enemies to spawn.
I would also suggest for Leather Armor to pretty much be invalidated as an Armor concept. Leather Armor is practically useless due to how easy it is to gather Iron. Whatever happened to Chain armor, anyways?
(Hey, I remember you used to go by Thunderhoof and Starlight Glimmer on here. Those were fun times. Anyway, let me actually respond to your post now lol)
What do you remember of those times? I am genuinely curious about that. It's been years since I've been on here. While I have lurked somewhat here and there over the years, I have gained access to my other "Starlight Glimmer" account sometime ago and posted occasionally in the past few years, I was largely away from the forum - yet when I regained access for real this time, under this account, I decided to contact the staff and have this account revived. I originally had the material on this account deleted and I do not remember any of it.
My original join date, I do remember, was March 31st 2015. I was in 6th grade at the time. Now, at the time of writing this, I'm of college age. I mainly remember starting arguments and drama with people. I was just a kid at the time. Now? I'm an adult, and looking back on those events, it's another world to me. Much of it I don't remember since it's just been so long.
I don't talk to anyone from the Minecraft forums anymore on a frequent basis. Whatever roleplay groups I was in from those times have disbanded, and have been gone for years now. I haven't really seen anyone else around that I recognize, though. Seems like everyone left.
Yeah, Discord played a huge part. It was why back then we replaced the old IRC chat and launched an official Minecraft Forum discord that everyone can join via the 'chat' button on the website. While there were a lot who joined (22,000 and counting to be exact), the activity on the discord server never really materialised.
And yes, there used to be a PPNS section on the forum. I can answer your question as I was around during the time when it was removed. To summarise, PPNS resulted in a lot of heated arguments, drama, conflict and created a cesspool of negativity amongst what was otherwise a friendly community at the time. It was also deemed as an additional aspect to moderate and it can be challenging to moderate political discussion whilst being as fair and objective to everyone as possible.
Totally get the MCF admins' decision on removing PPNS though. Planet Minecraft actually allows for political discussion, so you get plenty of LGBTQ+ related posts, politics and discussion on other hot-button issues in the news. The result of this is that community can be quite toxic at times because of the difference in opinion between those who are more liberal vs those who are more conservative and it is a hassle to moderate as well.
I don't really use forums anymore that much, besides this forum and one other forum. Discord is my main go to. Discord has many issues that I do not like. It's hard to find good communities as most servers seem to be rather toxic. I want to find some sort of group with an older crowd that has a fair level of maturity, but that's fairly hard to come by over Discord.
On another forum I use, there is a political section of the forum but it is strictly moderated. Swearing, joking, emojis, and passive-aggressiveness will get you booted from it very quickly. It's a good way to filter out people.
I have been on Planet Minecraft somewhat, and I can already tell right off the bat that it's not a place I would find value in. Seems too much of a mess.
And since 1.18 expanded the terrain generation and build height, instead of forbidding players to go above the bedrock layer on the roof of the Nether
I would suggest adding limbo, the topmost layer of the netherworld, it looks like the Nether still, but this upper layer has no lava and the landscape above Y 128 has a black sky, not red, giving it the "outer darkness" feel.
And the netherrack landscape that generates above this region it has a higher probability of generating warped forests, meaning more Endermen spawn and are a potential hazard for players to traverse this landscape.
Skeletons could also spawn in this upper region but in the soul sand valleys which also have a higher chance to generate at the uppermost layer of the Nether.
and all the landscape would be surrounded by hills including steep cliffs which subject the player to fall damage, some of the drops being 100 blocks worth meaning players need to be careful, and they can no longer just cheese the upper layer of the Nether for a hazardless shortcut through the Overworld, they still have to deal with hostile and some neutral mobs as well as difficult terrain.
Although this means the bedrock layer at the top will be replaced giving players a legit way to access higher elevations inside the Nether,
it is still risky for players to go through.
I would definitely want that inside of the Nether and have different layers to the Nether as well. Perhaps various layers can have differently colored versions of the Nether-rack, often being yellow or green with unique mobs and materials within them. As the Overworld has Nether portals, perhaps the Nether can have small bits and pieces of the overworld within that the players can colonize and have their own slice of the Overworld within the Nether.
Yes, I agree with this solution as a way to both balance the tool system and make them more fun to use by making players interact with jobsite blocks more often.
I think having diamonds gilded with iron as a way to make diamond tier tools and above is a good idea.
This could be done by making players use 3 diamonds on an iron pickaxe on the Smithing table to make a diamond pickaxe.
Everyone who currently has diamond tools keeps them, but post update, it would make sense to make them use the Smithing table to gild the tools.
If they think this is a terrible idea, consider that we already have to use netherrite ingots to gild diamond tools to upgrade them to netherrite.
It's not a new concept, gilding is already in the game, just not to the degree you and allyourbasesaregone are suggesting.
With this, in order to obtain a diamond tool under the new system, players would need to meet a minimum requirement of having
a fully repaired iron tool, a Smithing table and depending on the tool being upgraded, some diamonds, a proportional amount.
I've also suggested allowing players to make steel on the Smithing table by use of coal,
as a way to increase the base durability of iron tools from 250 to 750.
I suggested the idea of Ruby and Amethyst Armor. Perhaps as one gets to stronger types of armor like Ruby and Amethyst it needs to be gilded with both Diamond and Iron twice, to give a hefty cost to something that would be very powerful. Perhaps when those armors are put on, it unlocks a new game mode that is much harder, optionally.
I would say the Aether should be accessible in the Overworld itself. Like, the build limit could be increased and one can literally build to the Aether itself, and if one falls, one falls back down to the overworld. The Aether could be more cloud based, or having solid cloud biomes in Minecraft.
I agree, that option would be nice. Since food exists in the Nether, that could work as well, Hoglins can be killed for food items and bonus chests could be spawned to give players a random tool to start off with inside the Nether, but only iron, this way they must seek out Bastions if they want diamonds to collect the Obsidian to get to the Overworld.
Crimson or warped fungus could be cut down to make a crafting table, so crafting tools can be done inside the Nether too.
Even without the bonus chest, they would still have the option to cut fungus down to make sticks with and then dig for blackstone
to make stone tools and furnaces. Leather can be collected from Hoglins to make basic armour with.
There is also the option for buffet worlds which can make the Overworld a challenge too, by spawning players inside an abandoned mineshaft,
without armour this would be dangerous, but still doable, the spawn points for players could be in well lit areas of the mine to prevent them from getting spawn trapped by hostile mobs, this way only when they move away from their original spawn do they then have to deal with the hostile mobs including Cave Spiders. The buffet world type that does this could be extreme hills, everywhere in the Overworld,
meaning players need to dig to get to the surface of the Overworld and then set a spawn point.
I would suggest for the Nether to have villagers. Perhaps a new Mob similar to Villagers, but directly hostile to the player. Not quite like Piglins, but a village of hostile mobs the player has to deal with. I would also suggest the possibility of having frozen regions of the Nether, rare, but flat, snowy plain type biomes in the Nether itself. Very rare.
Correct, they've already given people the option to turn off natural regeneration. So what can it hurt?
Of course after implementing these newer features which you suggest would entail people having to do this at world creation,
but it would be even better if they became a one time change for people who already have survival worlds.
If people want the extra challenge of night time, they should have the option to turn off beds or allow them to set spawn points, but not time skip.
If people don't like mob spawners as they are too easy to abuse, they can either turn off their drops or disable them.
If people wish to enhance or nerf the ore generation in their worlds, they should be able to.
If people want a more restricted world size for the purposes of more limited resources and therefore more challenge by forcing players to be more careful with what they mine, they could have the option of Xbox 360/PS3 worlds provided no player had ventured out further than 864 × 864 blocks.
If people want to make custom worlds they should be allowed to do so.
We should also have the option to set world borders in both Java and bedrock edition with a barrier at the edge, without commands/cheats to stop world saves from becoming excessively large for people's servers, there are practical reasons for limiting world sizes.
But all options that are chosen should be shown above the difficulty settings so everyone on the server
and people watching videos if recordings are made, can see what settings had been chosen for each individual world,
this allows for players to demonstrate how competitive they are if they are taking on certain challenges by making the worlds harder for themselves.
Yes, that makes a lot of sense to me. There should also be an option to generate worlds soley based in the Nether or the End, without the overworld. You spawn in the Nether or the End and have to use a portal to get to the overworld, if one wants to include the overworld in that world generation.

Yeah I support this suggestion as well.

I'm still around, though, I don't know if I will continue to post here - or if my coming about here is yet another temporary visit.

The End isn't really the Moon. I think the End needs some major development, the End doesn't strike me as interesting as it could be.

Could you make a mod for Copper, Emerald, and Ruby tools?

That would be a step in the right direction of making diamond tools harder to obtain.

For those world modes, yes. I hope Minecraft can officially add in a Moon Dimension as well.
