I'm currently constructing a type of Minecraft server you may be interested in!
This Server includes a plethora of different game-play aspects and mechanics!
Just what kind of mechanics and aspects are we looking at?
-Well, I have put a lot of effort into concepts that would challenge the players capabilities, both inside and outside the Minecraft that we've all come to love so much.
-This server holds the perfect balance of vanilla survival, and story-driven gameplay.
The player will have to put their minds to the test, solving difficult puzzles in order to discover the truth of the Realm.
The Realm of Kairos should be an experience that immerses the player into the story, and follows them outside the boundaries of the game.
So, here are just a few of the many concepts that will be included:
What this system allows is the ability to change a players prefix, as in the title given before your name. Such a system will revolve around kill milestones, so upon reaching 10 or so kills, your name will look like this: [Marauder] Ryder_01
Not only that! But these titles will also match the theme of the different factions, which are explained down below.
(Hey, I might even add rewards for reaching a certain rank ;D)
The Lore I've created behind this server is quite extensive, so much in fact that it's kind of a doozy to read.
Even if this doesn't seem like much, remember that a lot of it is yet to be discovered! But can be found by exploring the world!
Out from the clutches of the ever growing perpetual darkness, came a warmth. It was hope, a world in which life had every possibility to thrive.
This world was called Kairos. Here the cycle of life ran free of restraint, species roamed far and wide across the corners of the Realm. One of which, were humans. However, these beings were estranged, different from the rest. Their actions cruel, and frequently betrayed each other in search of self gain. And so, in order to guide the humans from driving themselves off the cliff of war, the 4 Titansemerged. Strong beings who each represented their own individual persona, customs varied throughout, and as time passed, the humans asserted themselves into their preferable lands. Restoring the prosperity that was once everywhere. This brought forward the Aeon of Peace, a prosperous moment in time that provided innovation and justice for all. Such innovation brought a government system, by this time, the collective factions knew that they could not entirely achieve their full potential with a divided continent. And so, the Republic of Kairos was created. And every 4 years, an election is held to elect the new leader of Kairos, named The Kaiser. The Dominion were the most commonly elected, as they dedicated much of their time into creating a politically dominant Faction. But after a peculiarly close election, the Umbra were announced victorious. And the Dominion were outraged.
It was only a few weeks after said election was over that the Umbraeic King was pronounced dead, and after Kovoxian analysis and research, found the cause of death: Poison. There was an outcry, chaos and anarchy ensued, and the foundation of the Titans work began to crack under it's weight.
After many battles and wars, the resources and cooperation of the factions were non-existent. And the state of the Realm had fallen back into despair, and betrayal. And just as things seemed like they couldn't possibly be any worse, then came the Catalyst Event; such an event would mysteriously rend the Titans from the world, disappearing without a trace. And what it left behind, is speculated to be the harbinger of this destruction. Something that is ready to cast the world back into the void.
It is up to you, the player, to find out exactly what happened to the Titans.
But be wary, you might not like what you uncover.
(There, short and simple, right?)
Enhanced mobs have been added for players to fight! We all know that the occasional Creeper encounter isn't enough to make MC challenging! Face these new mobs out in the wilderness, or in specially built Arenas! Many of the dungeons in Kairos contain these monsters, so be wary of your provisions before entering.
But be careful, there are some beasts that cannot be beaten...
Territory Control is a brand new way to enhance the PvP aspect of the world! (if you're into that thing) Allowing faction members to control certain cities! And, as a reward, would receive daily loot! (the more territory you have, the more the loot) This is kind of a more controversial concept i've been working on, and is fairly new, so i'll be holding a poll do decide upon a conclusion.
(Yeah, i'm kind of a fan of puzzles :P)
Basically what i'm trying to accomplish is a system that will get the player involved through participating in puzzles, like riddles, and codes! And through doing this, the player can learn more about the Realm itself, dark secrets included! (And maybe some sick gear? Who knows?)
Cracking some of these codes will be no easy challenge, but it's not like you're trying to find the zodiac killer or anything haha
Perhaps the most prominent and important aspect of this whole Server is the Factions. Each has their own theme and Lore, it truly makes them unique in almost every way, from the terrain, to starter kits, all the way to the properties of the land. Anywho, enough rambling:
The Erathians: Strong miners with even stronger walls, these content diggers are a force to be reckoned with. Living in the East, they are exposed to the many jarring cliff faces of their well known terrain. Over the years many tunnels have been dug throughout the mountain ranges in order to allow for quick travel. It's best to leave these members to their business, or you'll be finding yourself thrown into the nearest volcano.
The Dominion: These Medieval-like people are known for their Honour-Bound laws, and excellence with the sword. These Warriors have continuously been at war with the Umbra since The Catalyst Event. And show no mercy. The Dominion excel at horse mounted combat, and live a calm Southern lifestyle tending to farms.
The Umbra: Bold, bitter, and unafraid. These wintry Northern folk are excellent hunters. Residing in the cruel environment of the North has taught many to track, stalk, and kill. Commonly awaiting for nightfall to strike, on either an unsuspecting animal, or human.
The Kovoxian: The Kovoxian are an intelligent faction, they had dedicated themselves to innovation and technologies during the Aeon of Peace. Specializing in alchemy and Redstone technologies, they are a formidable foe when it comes to traps and poisonous elixirs. They are not warriors, but that fact is negated by their abilities to enhance themselves beyond normal measure.
A large mechanic that i'm going to use in order to progress the story is Dungeons. Difficult levels that are basically an All-or-Nothing kind of setting. Completion of these stages (and eventual bosses) will leave you with highly-proficient equipment. Even some items I like to call Titan Gear.
This specific variant of loot is specifically designed to make the wielder seem God-like. Enhancing attributes such as HP, Damage, Speed, and Armor, and the ability to grow that awesome beard you've always wanted! Okay, maybe not that last part...But you get the idea
It's a beautiful day to throw your life's savings away! All jokes aside:
The item shop is accessible to all factions is labelled a 'No-Pvp-Zone' And if you're worried about some loser not listening to the rules and slaying you for all your dough, just remember i'll be able to prevent such a terrible sight!
This is where players come to buy unique items! Ranging from Villager Eggs (used to build up your cities) to Blinding Arrows! The main currency used in Kairos is Gold! Technically! Basically what I mean by this is, there's going to be a system like this: Gold < Coins < Levels. What does this all mean? Well, after mining some sweet, sweet gold, it can then be traded in for coins! However, some items (Possibly Titan Gear?) will have 'Level Locks' on them, which puts your Level at the top of the economic food-chain. Your coins will be displayed next to your name when you hit the TAB button.
The main goal I have for The Realm of Kairo is to give the players a Minecraft experience that is truly unique. And this is the reason why I have introduced concepts such as 3rd Party Puzzles that gives the player a chance to take a step back from the Minecraft world, without truly leaving it.
The interactive story plays a huge part in getting the player involved in the server. Constantly solving mysteries that delve the player deeper into it's lore. Comparing the amount of story that i'm able to reveal to the player, and the amount that will be hidden throughout the world is vastly different. For a quick comparison, think of it like Icebergs, 90% of it is hidden under the water.
So as many of you would have guessed at this point, the world will be entirely hand painted by yours truly, and is a large contributor to the amount of time I'm going to need making this Server :/
I've geographically split the world into 4 sides, North, West, South, and East. Allowing for each faction to comfortably reside in their respectful regions. Not only that, but I've also tried, keyword tried, to make the world decently realistic. But all I've done basically is: North = Cold, South = Hot.
The addition of islands later on has been speculated, but I think such a step would first require the players getting bored of the main continent (Padovan).
-I've already been theorizing the addition of islands! Large masses of land that would be added throughout time, allowing for continuous expansion of the world! (All I need is players to conquer these lands)
-If anyone is wondering, I've created a Mind Map that I've stored all of my concepts onto, and I checked just how large the damn thing is; It came out to 8,009 words... AND IT'S ALL IN POINT FORM!
In all honesty, the point of this server is to always have players on their toes. And never being able to tell what kind of riddle (and result) comes next. Players are dealt the bad hand of history and are forced to fight to survive, living in a world that rewards those for killing, but also rewards you for staying alive. Thus creating this Dog-Eat-Dog world that will have you pulling knives out of your back faster than you can count them.
THERE MAY BE A LONG WAIT TIME BEFORE THE SERVER IS UP AND RUNNING
CONTACT ME IF YOU'D LIKE TO HELP CONSTRUCT THE WORLD AFTER THE MAIN SCULPTING PROCESS IS
FINISHED. (I'm kind of the only guy working on this atm)
Comment if you'd like to be invited to this Realm! Please state:
It's nice to know i'm doing something right haha, I'll be sure to put much more time into this project now! It's just the classic balance between school and free time that's keeping this project from being done sooner
