    Please check this thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/956439-to-get-jungle-biome-in-a-110-generated-world/
I've got jungle in my old singleplayer world, but for the world used on server you'll have to change 2 parameters in level.dat.

i dont have any older wolds to test, so im in agreement with your test results, but when the new update officially comes out, we will see what changes are needed or not.

And I just found that my server world, created sometimes during Beta, had a generatorVersion 0 and generatorName default_1_1! If not for this thread, I'd continue to pointlessly look for jungle in it too. Still, it's confusing - do those two parameters change after server updates?

Hmmm ok thats cool, but i dont know why i couldnt find one in my old world, weierd.

Jeb officially stated (https://twitter.com/#!/jeb_ ) that you would need to generate a new one, I'm confused. Going to ask him.

Maybe it doesn't generate with generatorName: default_1_1 only, but generates with older worlds, which have generatorName: default?

    Pic.

World itself: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25276804/World5.rar. I'm not familiar with world data NBT shows, but biome borders and materials of my base kind of show that it was created long ago. December 6, ‎2010, in fact.

I'm not trying to be a troll here, just was really bothered because I don't want to create a new map for my server and decided to check.

Does this biome really need me to create a new world?

According to my experiment on a 1.0 creative world and a pretty old survival world, no.

Jungle DOES generate in old worlds.

I think Jeb's meant something else (again). I first checked it in a 1.0 creative world, then I launched a really old survival world (made right after the introduction of biomes, way before swamps), started walking and after about 10 minutes found a jungle.

Those words could mean anything. If you want anybody to get your idea, you have to explain it. Not everyone's good at telepathy, y'know.

Elaborate please. And if you think that newly generated worlds should have churches and night clubs, erm, that's not even a remotely good idea.

    *Sigh*
Just give this some rational thought please. 4 million in sales times, lets say an average of $15 US, is 60 million in revenue. And we are not talking about a giant company with a ton of overhead. Even after a roughly 40% tax, they'd pull in 36 million. Plenty of cash for Notch to buy a secluded mansion, and live out the rest of his life far away from the hair-brained conspiracy theories of his so-called fans. Unlike EA or Sony, who have insatiable stock holders to please, Notch doesn't need the money at this point. The only reason to continue creating games at this point is if you love what you are doing.

Besides, Minecraft could disappear from the face of the Earth right now and I will have gained much more entertainment than the $20 I put into it. Worth every penny. By comparison, how much entertainment can you buy down at your local cinema for $20? 2-4 hours worth?

You act like $10-$20 entitles you to free game development for life. Grow up.

Good to see a wise person here.

Bah. Monsters spawn when at low enough dark level. If you spawn the territory well enough, they won't spawn here.
Anyway, I'm just talking about the possibility to play with hunger and without monsters if you don't use mods.

Oh, and monsters can't walk into a peaceful area if it's protected by those neat things called "walls".

EDIT: Of course it's just a temporary solution for OP, and lack of hunger loss in Peaceful mode seems strange.

...You completely missed the point of the OP. He/she wanted the ability to activate hunger while still maintaining peaceful mode's lack of hostile monster spawns.

I'm talking of gameplay style where you have hunger, but don't have to worry about hostile monsters.

Surround your home with a great wall, light everything up so no monster will spawn in the vicinity and play on hard. Basically, you need to create a "peaceful" region of the world.

Well, I don't think that everyone is whining about it. And I'm not even saying that the people who are should stop. I mean, I think a well thought out, reasoned argument about changes is much better and more effective than shouts of "THIS IS STUPID AND IT BROKE ALL MY STUFFS".

I'm just trying to do my part by (hopefully) reminding people that changes will be made to the game, and that just because something looks or acts a certain way now, doesn't mean that that's how it will be forever. I've even seen people criticizing things like Ghast Tears because they don't have a use right this second. And it's needless. Patience is a virtue.

Of course not everyone (I, for one, don't), but it's a lot of people, and constructive criticism is rare. Besides, all decent game developers know that you can't please everyone, and listen to all complains/suggestions - it just doesn't work.
