Finally, after countless hours of work and screwing around, I finally got a working 4x4 piston door to be 1 block wide! So, fellow redstoners, here it is!
Note: I wanted it to be tileable, so that's why I didn't use any redstone dust. Now that, through testing, I know it's impossible to be tiled, I'll work on a much more compact version, utilizing dust.
Full Contraption:
Here are the technical notes:
- NOT PRACTICAL
- INSANELY long opening time
- INSANELY long closing time
- ENORMOUS (54x34x1)
- NON-TILEABLE (This is a limitation of redstone. It is impossible to tile it due to the BUD glitch caused by the upper piston that pushes the block in. Also, the hashset randomailty of java causes even unison firing to be impossible)
- Must face 1/3 direction to function properly
- No coordinate dependency as far as I tested
- Needs optimization (That's for you, csmyers)
- Only here for concept
- Sometimes, it just doesn't work. Literally. I've loaded the same world 10 times, and twice, it just didn't work when I hit the lever
Version 2
Full Contraption:
Technical Notes:
- Somewhat smaller at 46x26x1
- Non-directional dependent! (As far as I've tested)
- Non-coordinate dependent! (As far as I've tested)
- MUCH faster opening and closing
- Smoother and cleaner transitions for opening and closing. Looks cool.
- Requires glowstone. ):
- Non-tilable (But you probably already knew that)
As a side note: The V2 save also has the V1 door. Just make sure you're looking at the door you want, because it's not labelled. =/

I present Cobblenator 3000v2!
Cobblenator 3000v1 turned out to be obsidianator3000!
Built on SMP
12x12 (and then some) cobblestone generator
2304 Cobble
It uses 4 12 block long cobble generators (horizontal)
Generates the cube in 1 minute 16 seconds
2304/76= 30+ cobble per second
First pic is of it in action
Second pic is the guts.

Im trying to make a extendable 4 tall door, seamless that opens/closes into the ceiling/floor.
Yours is fantastic, but im trying to build it from scratch myself (learning, i suppose)
I have made a 4x4 seamless door, but im not happy with the speed in which it opens.
Im trying to reduce the actions required to open the door, with your "tricky" retractor above it cuts my wiring down from 21 actions (open, wait, close) to 12 (open, wait, close), but like you said unfortunately we/I cant use the same "trick" on the top section.
This would make the door both faster and wiring more compact.
I also have to add some pieces in to make it idiot proof (RS-NOR latch with its reset hooked into the last piston action) so it will never malfunction from multiple button presses. It sits at spawn and gets heavy use. The RS-NOR Latch slows it down by 1 tick when starting, but doesnt effect door opening speed.
Back to the drawing board! Thanks for the response/advice--!!

Try to place the torch and knock it up immediately.
Make sure your repeaters have a long enough delay in he clock, etc.

First I knew I needed a fully featured macro/scripting program:
http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/
After some messing around, I found that level 40-50 enchants ONLY appear in the bottom box.
1: I wrote a script to Find the pixel in the upper left corner of the tens digit where the number 5 only has a pixel...Dronf recommends getting a 30 enchant in the slot to see where the pixel is you want to find, and it sounds like a good idea!
sleep (1500) ; 1.5sec pause
For $count = 1 To 1
MsgBox (0,"TL","Getting the pixel coords")
sleep (3000) ; pauses 3 seconds for you to get the cursor where it needs to be
$pos= MouseGetPos ()
MsgBox (0,"Mouse x,y:",$pos[0]&","&$pos[1])
Next
Write down the numbers in the pop up. Label it jackpot spot
2: Now to get the pixel color...
Run the script above over again, except this time, put it on a GREEN pixel.
Write that number down...as color detect
3: I wrote a script to find the pixel color (varies by texturepack, etc.?)
For $count = 1 To 1
MsgBox (0,"pix","Getting pixel color")
sleep (1000)
$pixcolor = PixelGetColor (XXX,YYY); ***use the #s you wrote down in STEP 2!
MsgBox (0,"Dec",$pixcolor)
MsgBox (0,"hex",Hex($pixcolor, 6))
Next
Run this script and it should give you some output. Mine was(decimal): 8453920
4: Ok, on to the final step.
Now to integrate the above information with the actual script that does the magic:
HotKeySet("^{x}", "gexit") ;<abort feature. CTRL-x
sleep (2500) ;2.5 sec delay to get ready
For $count = 1 To 5000 ;loop
$greenpix = pixelsearch (XXX,YYY,XXX+2,YYY+2,8453920); insert the information from step #1 add 1 or 2 to the numbers in the 3rd and 4th spots, last # is the pixel color
if not @error Then ;Jackpot baby!
MsgBox (0,"PIXELDETECTED:",$greenpix[0]&","&$greenpix[1])
Exit
endif
mouseclick ("left") ;picks up the item
sleep (150) ;short pause, may need to be increased in multiplayer
mouseclick ("left") ;puts the item back down
sleep (150) ;short pause, may need to be increased in multiplayer
Next
func gexit()
Exit
EndFunc
When you start the above script, make sure your item is already in the enchanting station!
Start the program and quickly get minecraft active and your cursor on the item. It will start clicking with fury. New average time for level 50 enchants average 10 minutes--
Hitting CTRL-X cancels the program if you need to stop (SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSo you are enchanting..sssssssssss)
Have fun- Moke!

All props to NoobCrew. Fantastic idea for a survival map!
This is inspired by Skyblock. I loved it so much, I thought I would add to it and make it a little more competitive and involved...
2 teams, you can play 2,4,6 players.
The object is to obliterate your opponent.
Rules:
NO DIRECT PVP!
NO STEALING!
Stay in your area!
(optional) One death = game over!
The first to destroy other teams flag wins.
You can not surround your flag or block it off by any means.
Stay within the voided area.
To do this you will need to:
Build a cobblestone generator
Build a infinite water source
Expand the island
Build a mob trap for gunpowder
Build a farm for food (optional)
Build a Base
Build a sand generator (it works on all versions 1.8.1 - 1.9.5)
Build a reliable, long range tnt cannon.
Make TNT
Enjoy some carnage!
tl:dr BOOM!
