Light the roof. Build the walls at least 6 blocks high. I think spiders can jump 4 blocks. 6 should do it.
I've had weirder things happen to me.
Did you ragequit when this happened? If so, I will commence pointing and laughing.
Ya I usually do build my walls quite high, but this was the first night, and I don't have anytime to build a proper wall, after gathering all the wood I want and makeing my villagers safe from zombies. So I usualy just build them two high to keep everything but spiders out, so I can use the hole in the roof trick to get string for a bow right away. And yes i did rage quit, let the pointing and laughing commence. I'm not proud of it, but I still do it when thing like this happen. If I had done something stupid and died I would've hung my head in shame and reloaded, but this.... I usually have to calm down before I reload after something like this happens.
So I had started a new file and gone through the whole process of building a semi-defensible dirt hut like I usually do, when nightfall hit. So I went inside to gather some extra resources and craft some stuff, when I hear a spider has breached the wall I made. No sweat i told myself it always happens, and I have a good strategy to deal with them. just dig a one block hole in the roof, and safely kill it from inside my hut. However when I dug out the hole I noticed it was a spider jockey. A little more difficult I thought, but nothing I can't handel, especialy with the sun rising. So as the sun rose I heard the sounds of a dying skeleton, and began my assault. The spider died off just as the dying skeleton stopped making the sounds death... but there was not even the faintest wisper of it's final demise. Instead what happened was arrows started being shot at me from seemingly no where. I franticly looked around to see if it had fallen in but it was no where to be seen within my base. Yet the arrows still reigned down on me. So I figured it fell into shade somehow and was attacking me through the hole I made. So I ran behind my staircase to get cover from the arrows, with the intent to lead it into my base so I could take it by surprise and kill it safely one on one.... But yet the arrows STILL flew at me!!! Looking up at the hole there was no sign that the steleton could even SEE me much less assult me with arrows. So I ran up the stairs useing evaisive manuvers, but the arrow still hit me EVERY SHOT with startling accuracy. Before I got to the top of the stairs the seal the hole, I died. The entire scenario infuriating me to no end. I have no idea what happened and want to know if a similar thing has happened to others. THIS UNJUSTUS WILL NOT GO UNHEARD!!!!!!
Dude, This is exactly what I have been dreaming about for minecraft!!!! You could have starship designers and get chains of command going. Damn, mostly i just like the idea of makeing a star trek inspired starship and charting the vast byonds of the minecraft servers. Oh and you have to have some sort of space flight between servers, just so other servers can have a chance of putting up a planetary defence. Ohhh ****!!!! I have too many ideas, and not enough patients to write them down because I'm getting more and more exited with every word I write.
So I guess I should stop.
And I tip my hat to you Dr. Mackeroth. Truely an idea born of brillience.
Could it be the material you are using? I thought I saw somewhere that different materials for each item offer different ranges of levels. If memory serves, I believe you need gold items to get the level 50 enchantments.
Your right, it is only gold tools that can get level 50 enchants. Kinda a shame, but I read somewhere that they are faster than the other tools despite their low derability and such.
But that brings up another question. If a give my gold pickaxe a level V efficiency enchant, would it be able to mine Iron, gold and diamond?
Now I've got my enchantment table and 30 bookcases, and I've set up my little library up the way the wiki suggested, but for some reason it wont allow me access to level 50 enchants. I know this because I've downloaded the Better Enchanting mod which allows me to see what I'm enchanting and choose which level I want. However it wont allow me to have a lager enchantment than 48(if I completely enclose myself in bookcases).
I'm thinking it might be my mod, but I'm not sure. Please help.
(Edit) I do have the "More xp" mod, as well as checkpionts and optifine downloaded as well.
Endermen when it's raining. I'll be sitting peacefully in my base farming Mooshrooms, and then I hear the completely unexpected sound of an enderman teleporting. I nearly die of a hart attack each time. In fact one time an enderman teleported right on to my curser and attacked me. I'm actually afraid to go out when it's raining now.
First: The symbols don't do anything. THEY DO NOTHING!!11!1ONE1ELEVEN!!
Secondly, the main reason I don't the suggested system is that some worlds would be a lot better. Right now, it's completely random. One world is no better than another.
Imagine this: You just got enough bookshelves and diamonds to make a full enchantment table. Then, with horror, you realize that you don't have any good enchantments at all! Furious, you delete the world that you spent a while on. Meanwhile, your friend got an epic world and is taunting you with it.
A "seed" system would have other failures. Once the best seed is found, no one would have any reason to use any other. Why would you, when there is literally nothing better?
I am in full support of letting you choose how many levels you spend easier. There is literally no reason why you shouldn't be able to except for wasting time doing nothing. I have gotten a level 50 enchantment, and it was ridiculously hard to find. You should be able to select how many levels you want to enchant with, as long as you have enough bookshelves.
But the fact is, having predetermined enchants is not in the spirit of enchanting, and you'd have to seriously change the system. Unless you can provide a lot more detail, it makes sense, and is balanced, I will not support.
I hope you address what I said here this time. There are upsides to being able to choose enchantments, but it unbalances the game and could easily have serious downsides.
Wait a min!! Hold the phone. What your saying is that The enchantments are spacific to the world they are in, so theoretical I can spawn a world with ONLY Armour or weapon enchants? I'm sorry if I say I don't believe you, because that in it's self is unberably unbalance, aswell as unimaginably stupit for a game designer to do. Why the hell would the seed do that I ask!? When you type a seed into the world generator, does it exclude certain bioms? I don't think so. So why would the enchantment seed do that? No reason, because it wouldn't happen.
And guesse what the response to a amazing seed that seems to have everything is... ANOTHER amazing seed that seems to have everything. They will just keep comeing. Kinda like they are
currently.
And as for the "spirit of enchanting", I don't know where your from, but where I'm from usually the "spirit of enchanting" does not include screaming at the computer for the enchant you want, while spaming the left click for half an hour. And I'm sure that in some Mythical word of fairy tail the wizards would try to remember what they're "random" magic would do so they would ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO USE IT PROPERLY!!!
When I first heard of enchanting, I thought it would add a discovery aspect to the game, outside of cartography. It seemed to me that Steve would find this mystic book and over the course of the game(from when you crafted it) you would unlock the power behind it and mabey even a dark little secret.... Something to make the "story" at the end of the game seem a little more metaphysical.
But I digress, as once again a game has dissapointed me on something.... but it's only ONE thing, which is easaly ignorable. And when a mod comes out... MODDABLE!!! HAHA
it's more medieval- fantasy like. You know, basic tools, bows instead of guns, building from the ground up, zombies. It's hard to please everyone with something being "minecrafty" but it usually isn't modern stuff.
Right, because everyone knows that Minecarts and tracks, aswell as noteblocks, jukeboxes and the equivelent of electrical circuitry came right out of the medevil era. Forgive me if my history is off a bit.
So it would allow for a large door? However, there's one thing you didn't take into account. Extension would be easy, because you'd only need to supply power to the bottom. When you cut the power, they just retract and stay there.
Until you add power again, then vuala!!
And as for uses... Well outside the really big door, though that was the original thought that popped into my head, but I'm sure through the ingenuity of every Minecrafter out there could think of something else. And I will admit that it does seem like more of a mod than vanilla, but I don't think it's that much of a derailment from the game. In fact I'm one to think the amount you can do with something as versitile as REDSTONE is seriously lacking.
Thats nice, But here is the problam: Why the f**k do you think about minecraft in bed?!
But it won't happen, its not very "minecrafty".
You clearly do not know about tetris syndrome(look up the wiki), and because of that I figure, heck, why not think about it in bed? The images a already running constantly though my head against my will. I'd think it's kinda hard not too end up thinking about it.
But on a side note, what about it ISN'T "Minecrafty"? Here I was thinking that the only limit to Minecraft was your imagination.
So I was laying in bed last night thinking about Minecraft and what I would like to build later on down the road, and I got to thinking: You know what would be great? A massive sliding door that you can scream open sesamea to all dramatic and such. Then I thought well that can't really be implemented vary well considering what pistons are currently like. Then I thought: you know what could make pistons a little more versitile? Redstone Pistons!! Basicaly, it's a piston that has been crafted to produce a redstone current. So when it's extended it will supply current to the next block, and when closed doesn't provide current.
So a line of them could be extended via one redstone torch, kinda like this:
legend: r = non-active redstone torch
R = active redstone torch
P = redstone piston
E = piston extention
rPPPPPP = no current
RPEPEPEPEPEPE = active current
And I even have a couple possible crafting recipie:
Legend: I = Iron ingot
R = Redstone dust
P = piston
[I][I][I] [ ][ ][ ]
[R][R][R] [ ][I][ ]
[R][P][R] or [R][P][R] The Iron is there to have a conductive plate on the extension for the redstone current to pass through.(obviously)(and sorry I can't get it to cooperate)
And yes they should also be craftable with slimeballs to make them sticky, as should ALL blocks in my opinion, though I belive that topic has already been brought up. (sorry bout the edit)

Yogscast presented Minecraft in a fantastic way, showing off builds, mods etc. Everything that makes it the amazing game it is.
So good for them. If they hadn't of done it, how much do you want to bet it would've been done by someone else to a similar degree of popularity? As far as I can tell Yogscast just feels entitled to their status (much like a child, or an addict), which is completely ridiculous. And the fact that they RAN BACK HOME to make their statement PROVES that they feel they are in the wronge, and they want home court advantage when makeing their "appolegy".

True, I just didn't think they could attack when that happened to them.
