posted a message on Compliation of PC builds from 900$ to 3000$ + How to build (NOOBS READ)
MY COMPLIATION OF RECCOMENDED PC BUILDS FROM VARIOUS PRICE RANGE

Hello everyone, since almost everybody is making a thread about "what PC spec should I build" I guess I should make a thread consisting of recommended PC builds and you can ask and help other members below.

Before starting this is mainly focused on DESKTOP computers, I have not had much time to research about laptops (although i do know very good laptops for $1000)

    Let's begin!

    STEP 1

Before doing this, think about your budget and what performance you would expect, a much higher performance would cost more.

Save up your money, and don't forget about shipping and taxes.

    Step 2

You should research how to build and assemble your own computer. Watch newegg on youtube, search google for review of parts etc.

    Step 3

    Material details

Where to buy: Google [county name][space]["computer part"]

Motherboard/Mobo: Central part of computer that links all parts together
-Make sure your mobo socket can accept your CPU.
-More PCI VGA card means more CrossfireX/SLi GPU can be enabled
-More RAM slot means more RAM can be added
-HDD Connection is the speed of your HDD read/write

Major manufacturers: Too many to list

    CPU: Brain of computer
-More powerful makes computer faster on CPU-heavy application
-Requires a heatsink to dissipate heat
-Can be OVERCLOCKED, running at higher speed (more heat tough)

    Major manufacturers: Intel, AMD

RAM: Handles open application that is running
-More RAM= more app can be opened without lag
-When RAM amount is not enough a virtual "swap" process is executed, your primary HDD is used for a virtual RAM. However this creates a MASSIVE lag or sometimes freezes.

Major manufacturers: Too many to list

Graphics card: Handles processing of image on screen. Such as animation and 3D games.
-A more powerful graphics card has more ability to generate complex images such as Anti Aliasing, Tesselation and the latest edition of Microsoft DirectX/D3D/OpenGL (*minecraft uses OpenGL).
-More memory enables graphic card to handle more monitors and increased 3D rendering
-Can be overclocked, standard cooler may need aftermarket heatsink to prevent overheating. Or can buy pre-OC edition (I generally prefer PowerColor/MSi pre-OC graphics).

Major manufacturers: AMD/ATi Radeon, nVIDIA. (Note that these two produces GPU core and reference GPU design, real GPU for consumers is made by manufacturers such as MSi, eVGA, etc.)

CPU/GPU custom heatsink: Made for replacing the subpar included cooling system on cheap GPU and all CPU's, this provides a much better heat disspation and extends lifespan of product.

There is also mini copper heatsink to cool GPU vRAM and mobo chipset [chipset may not need custom cooling because it does not produce much heat]

Main manufacturers: Too many too list.

    Thermal paste for custom coolers

It is to conduct heat from a core surface to a heatsink metal pipe. The best is Arctic Silver 5. Take note that both the heatsink and the core surface must be 100% clear of anything except the thermal paste to work. When applying, put a water droplet size of paste on the core then press with heatsink while fixing heatsink into place

Case: Provides protection from shock and dust. Although optional. Can be fitted with additional case fan to provide more airflow to inside of case.

Major manufacturers: Cooler Master, NZXT, Lian-Li, Antec.

Power supply: Provides electricity for components. More wattage means more parts can be used (more GPU, HDD, etc). Reccomend a modular-type so the cable management inside your case is easy :smile.gif:

Major manufactures: Corsair, Thermal Take, Silverstone.

Monitor, Keyboards, Mouse should be easy to pick. And does not require explanation

    Step 4. The build

    Shop used: Newegg.

    900$

    $850
    Micro-ATX
Run games at 900p even CRYSIS 2 maxed out
    Mid-tower casing

Optional: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo + Additional Fan + Arctic silver 5. Case Fan

    Other price range under construction

    Special: Laptops

    CLEVO LAPTOPS

These laptops is considered to be the BEST in gaming and the CPU + GPU can be Upgraded.

Clevo does not directly sell but allows rebranders to base their laptop on clevo-based chassis

The cheapest reseller i found is Malibal, company at Las Vegas.

However you must torrent your Windows 7, since these laptop don't include OS.

    Quote from Dantevortex

    price to performance ratio?

DO NOT use SLI or Crossfire if you want price to ratio.

infact dual 580GTX cards do not beat a single 595 GTX, as the GTX 995 is actually two 580GTX cards welded together.

And it is cheaper than two seperate cards, and uses less power, less space, and gives more performance.

SLI does not double the output. it does double the power consumption of your PC.

So, overkill upgrade and money is not important, go for SLI, if you want quality to price ratio? buy a single 595 or 6990(.5) ATI.

    wait, i thought a dual GTX 580 is a GTX 590?

    i read that a 6990= 2 6970 (cayman XT) downclocked, so a dual 6970 is faster?

The 850W is plenty for running SLI/CF on these cards. I wouldn't do either one with a single 1080p monitor. If you can't afford two more monitors with the 580s i would pick two sapphire 6950 2gb cards. Most of them have dual bios and unlock to 6970s for around $100 cheaper and then pick up a couple more monitors plus a couple Accelero TWIN TURBO II/ Accelero XTREME Plus II coolers. If money isn't a problem then i would pick the gtx 580s and a couple monitors. Also, what case and motherboard are you running?

ok, i will consider the sapphire 6950's+aftermarket cooler

btw does the MSI 6950 2gb unlock?

motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula (non thunderbolt)
    case: NZXT Phantom

    What exact CPU? Other specs?

Also, I you are getting the 580, you don't need the 3GB model, unless you have multiple moniters. This one is cheaper, but would be fine.

    AMD FX-8150 3.8GHz, 8C.
    ASUS Crosshair V (non-thunderbolt)

    Btw I run a single 1080P

is it better to have AMD+AMD VGA instead of AMD+nvidia VGA?

The Bulldozer Zambezi architecture isn't very powerful compared to Sandybridge.
Also, you don't need a super-expensive-high-end motherboard; I'd recommend the Asus P8P67 Pro/Deluxe, depending on your budget.

    They're great boards.

only 2 full pci VGA slot?
