I'm glad you release those beautiful assets to the public, they're too beautiful to not be reused :P

Still getting a bit nostalgic when I see the BL source on my old HDD xD

Here's the download of the last working version I know. It runs on Minecraft 1.5.1 and uses Forge 7.7.2:

This is the latest working build I made. It still has a lot of bugs, but I fixed a few of the game breaking bugs that occurred instantly (for example when generating the world). I've tested this version, if it doesn't work for you then you're probably using a wrong version of Forge.

Hey everyone! It's really sad the mod has to be cancelled after all the work that went into it, but what can you do... But i'm not gonna let the spirit of the mod die, I'm going to release the whole soundtrack that I created for the mod as a download on Bandcamp. The reason why I didn't respond on this thread sooner was because I've been in the process of remastering the songs, and it's almost done so I'll be ready to release the album in a few days! :) Stay tuned, I hope ya'll will like it :)

Until then... the closest to fame I've ever been :') Thank you all of you!!!!

Thank you for all the work you spent on the awesome music! :)
I'll never forget the moment when I implemented the ambient music and first heard "The Exporer" in the actual dimension. It's still my favourite one ;)

If the download doesn't work at all and Oli gives me the permission, I could recompile the latest "working" (just tested it) version which uses Minecraft Forge 7.7.1.611. I quickly fixed one or two bugs which caused an instant crash, but there are still many bugs left of course...

Oh, I didn't even know about the reboot. Last I saw the dimension was mostly done and they were about done with the prime wight battle...

Well it wasn't mostly done, there was still a lot to add (what you saw was maybe 20-40% of the planned content). But there was already enough content to play survival with it (with recipes, mobs, ores and that stuff). The prime wight battle and the credits were also already working. The main problem was that there were many bugs and performance issues.

Dang, from what i've seen they were pretty friggin close to finished, I wonder what happened.... Anyway, Dylan will you be restarting from scratch or did you get the source somehow? If you're restarting that's gonna be pretty dang tough for a mod of this size and scope, best of luck!

All the files like models and textures are on the dropbox and I still have the old files (before v2.0, the reboot) on my computer, but I don't know if those would be useful for yet another recode or restart. And as far as I know there was not a lot done in the Betweenlands v2.0 except the altars and the druids, I don't think that the dimension was/is in v2.0 yet (but don't quote me on that, not sure).

Is everyone sure that M.Compost has disappeared? Anyone got his skype or anything? It just seems strange. He normally tells us when he's going to have a long break. And also, unless anyone knows him in real life, who knows? Anything could happen. Maybe he's managed to stop playing Minecraft altogether (what a genius he'd be) ....

We all (anyone in angry pixel and many other people too) have his skype and nobody has ever seen him online afaik. But from time to time he comes online on this forum (just like today, look at his profile). Real life always has priority and who knows whats going on, let's just hope he's fine.

Wait, where have I seen this exact scenario before?
Ah yes, Wollay from CW. :(
Honestly, it's very creepy to not post about your mod with lots of supporters and such all around. Just like with Wollay, it is as if he is trying to pretend it doesn't exist, but in both cases I may be wrong.

That's exactly what I thought of too :P
But it's still a different thing with Wollay, he was never very active on any website or so and barely communicated with anyone since the beginning. Oli did and now he doesn't do it anymore, and the weird thing is that he was online here on MCF before two days.

Well, he does generally seem cheerful on the chat when he's on, and when there's progress on the mod he seems to be happy about that, so fingers crossed!

That's true, but to me it just looks like he's trying to avoid the mod because he was online today but didn't post here anything or wasn't online on skype for a long time. Of course he doesn't have to post every time he is online, but at least once a month would be helpful and some instructions over skype to his team too :P

It's just that MrCompost seems to have disappeared. When he reappears, the only thing that could mean that this has stopped would be him saying that he wants it stopped, which I'm sure won't happen.

While I hope that he'll come back and continue, I have my doubts. He himself has admitted that he doesn't like modding anymore and he once even said he'd hate it, which makes me think that making a reboot is totally silly. If he really doesn't like modding anymore, he shouldn't do it anymore or take a break of it, continuing will just make it even worse. Not sure if those words can be take serious or if he just said that because he was stressed or something else, I can't judge that. That all may sound rude, but it's pretty much the truth and it would be best if Oli would clear this up instead of just dissapearing (which he obviously didn't really do because he was last active on here today, but on skype I didn't see him for at least two months or at least posting something on here). I still hope that he'll come back and continue this project if he still likes doing so and if not at least clear this up.

Pretty much the mean reason imo was that the project turned out too big. At the beginning it all worked out fine and it was fun to work on the project, but once the mod was already pretty big developement went down. I don't want to talk bad about AP, because I blame myself too for not showing up enough, but there was almost no developement going on for a pretty long time before the reboot. For a short time there was some developement again with those awesome stalactites and stalagmites and better caves. And even though more and more really good modders joined the group we made a little bit progress and then it went down again. I enjoyed working with the AP team, it was a lot of fun and hopefully the chat will live again when Oli is back, but at the moment the team seems to be dead unfortunately.

It's sad that the old version never was finished and released, the only thing that prevented us from releasing a first non dev version was the huge amount of bugs and the lack of features for survival (even though it already had a lot of content). And afaik it's there's nothing going on with the reboot either. Haven't seen Oli in skype for a long time (probably over a month) and the AP chat on skype is pretty much dead, at least I can't see anything about the Betweenlands. Oh well, I still hope that the new team continues working on the mod again and can release it at some point.
Also, the old source is still somewhere around on dropbox, maybe one day someone can fix all those old bugs and the lack of features for survival and release it as I honestly don't think this mod, especially the reebot, will be continued (even though I totally hope it should be continued).

10 more years, then this mod will finally release.I think.

I just want to repeat that modding is a hobby and not a business, and it should stay like that. They do all that for free, just for your entertainment. If you want to stress the devs, go for it, but then don't complain if you get a totally buggy and unfinished mod like that 1.4.7 pre release.
