As a newcomer to this forum, but being around message board forums for a while, I would like to try and make one unbiased observation. As far as the Off Topic section, anyway. There are a lot of threads just asking random questions that could be part of a ongoing chat thread. Then add to that the forum rules of not bumping threads in this section. So for those that don't visit daily (though on some days in 12 hours the front page could be all new) might end up only getting to read threads because they are too late to participate. If there were one chat thread (like the Q&A section of MC360 where quick easy questions are asked in one thread) it might could cut down on the threads started each day. That's just an observation on my part. I've been to many forums and see chat threads be good and bad for the community. Either way, I enjoy it here too. It is nice to escape from what most forums are like due to allowing certain subject matter that isn't allowed here.
"The thread for questions-not-worth-their-own-thread" is a thing in other forums I'm part of. Could be a decent solution.
I want to say it was removed in 2012 but I could be wrong.
The thing is that the chat thread allowed all the "core" off-topic members to talk about whatever they wanted in one thread, and then when they wanted to post in any other given thread on the forum they could do that too. There were probably 15 or so members who were easily recognizable on here. It just allowed for a lot more relationship-building between everyone, which was nice. It added a bit of charm to this part of the MCF, and that charm has diminished since then.

I don't know any of you people except for the odd old member who would pop in from time to time.
I still think there is some manner of subliminal messaging involved in MLP.
Bandwagon / underdog "special" fringe group thinking, or a base part of it being so appealing to such a large demographic is just uncommon.
The main part that gets me, is not its popularity directly, its how its utilized. It defines people. They brandish it everywhere they go. Forum avatars, 4chan reaction images, entire threads, signatures, everywhere. And such a high prevalence of externalization is a very key thing, and the main curiosity of it all. Its also a major factor accounting for its rapid proliferation, and the force behind it all.

Without emotion can we truly be said to be human? It's part of our humanity, so I vote us worse off.

That doesn't answer the question.

There was a fandub of the Flutteryay moment, but AFAIK that's all that exists. Could really help my Spanish out...

Listening to I Need More Ponies right now.
If I can get a hang of some remixing software I'm downloading, I'll try to stitch a couple of his songs together.
