All issues with portals and watches are completely beyond my control (or anyone else's control who authors an HD pack) We all basically have to wait for xau to release an updated version of his HD texture fix, or some other java programmer to come up with a workaround mod. It's a software issue, not a graphical resource one.

Hey Misa, I just noticed that your ice texture is not transparent, in other words, I can't see through it. From what I understand, the Ice block supports the ability to be semi transparent.

Would you be kind enough to change that? Thanks.

It is transparent. It's not blatantly invisible with minor blemishes or anything, but it is definitely semi-transparent. I made it that way since a meter thick chunk of naturally-occurring ice would block a lot of visibility in reality, that and without refraction, too much transparency makes a mass of ice look 2D.

But yeah... Try standing beneath a block of ice and looking at the sky through it and you should see it with no problem. It's just not as easy to see a sea floor when looking through it from above. But even there, you can clearly see edges of a body of water through it.

I just now loaded up a map that had a small ice hut I built in an old snow level using buckets of water, and I can see a mountain on the other side of it just fine... If you're mixing and matching some of my textures with others, make sure your graphics editor supports the full range of alpha channels, and that you're clearing out the space where the ice goes before adding mine on top of it.

Hmm, the new file doesn't seem to work. It isn't even recognised in-game, so I archived it again in ZIP form this time, but the game crashes on startup.

    Quote from lloyd5867 »
I'm having the same problem. It crashes just having the pack in the pack folder. already .zipped it and all that just straight crash.

Please read the installation instructions (with the bold text) on the first post.

Pack has been updated with a temporary fix. Hopefully this'll hold all those over (like myself) who cannot live without my textures. ;P

Much thanks goes to Koolwitak, who first notified me of the workaround. :)

A little note on the alternate character skins. You will now need to drag char.png into the mob directory in Minecraft.jar.

Also The Ambient Occlusion and mini-map mod doesn't seem to be working at the moment, so I'd suggest against trying it for now until it's updated.

Now everyone go bug Notch to properly support HD texture packs!

oh nooo I use cloth for "marble" columns D: I always differentiate cloth from snow by knowing that cloth doesn't appear naturally, and snow sits on top of things. Not sure it needs color changes.

Not to worry, the change is extremely minor. The cloth should still perform as a good substitute for white marble/plaster.

    Quote from mappam »
I had Misa's pack installed and when I just went into my game all the textures are back to the original.

Misa's pack is 64x64 so from what I understand these will not work in the new Texture Option Choice - right?

So - do I just load them back into my game the Old-Fashoned Way? or will they not work at all now?

Is there a list yet of the Packs that DO work with the new feature?

Typical of me - I JUST learned (2 days ago) HOW to load a texture Pack LOL and now this new feature is added and I can't figure it all out - story of MY life!

Thanks for any research that has been done on this and if it has already been asked I have NO IDEA what to put into the search area to see if anyone has already answered this.

I'm working on this. Unfortunately, most of my work is dependent on the modding community or Notch fixing HD support on the latest version of Minecraft. Sufficed to say, When a fix is released, I'll be announcing the new installation instructions and releasing a new version of the pack specifically supporting this.

It looks like my Texture Pack is currently incompatible with the most recent texture pack support update. As soon as Notch or the community addresses the issue with high resolution packs for the new version of Minecraft, be assured that I'll release the next version of my pack to be fully compatible with it, with all the minor improvements I've been adding to it for next weekend's update.

    Addressing some feedback:
    Quote from xuerebx »
My only minor complaint is that the hell gold block doesn't seem to have that glow effect.

    This is addressed next patch.

When i install this i get the black screen of death and i'm a experienced modder....
I want it soo bad but it crashes the game =(

Following the clean install instructions on the main page which I've addressed 4 times now would've fixe it, but with the latest update, installation is subject to change. Expect a more compatible version soon if Notch fixes HD texture support.

My only problem with it is that the Snow and Wool look almost the same

Addressed next patch. Even though I think there was enough of a hue and texture difference alteady, I forget that I'm still using CRT's, which generally have a higher color gamut and contrast ratio than modern LCD's. To accommodate though, I've darkened and browned cloth a tiny bit.

WHY THE HELL DOES GOLD ORE LOOK LIKE A BOOGER SMASHED ON A WALL??????

Because oxidized gold found in quartz veins is green? And quartz is the most common substrate for gold. I never really thought of it looking like a booger. Only in fantasy and fiction though does gold stick out of walls in big shiny crystalline nuggets. I might redo it though to resemble gold in black shale or something. I'll think about it.

I notice a good bit of the textures in here are mine. I don't mind people using my stuff, but credit would be appreciated.

It's generally common practice to list the names of the artists you're using stuff of when releasing a compilation. And to list it as a compilation in the title.

Hey Misa, me again. I actually just got the textures in game, "installation" issues, and I noticed the iron ore is a little too red. Could you mabye make it less red/more orange or something.

    Thanks, laterz.

Here's a quick fix you can apply yourself for now. It'll be standard next version.

Little question on the side: How do I get Minecraft to use the default player skin (aka the HD skin png in the folder) instead of the one I uploaded in the preferences on the homepage?

When signing in, typo your username or password. You'll get a login error asking if you want to play offline instead, choose that, and you're good to go.

Hey Misa, would you be kind enough to make Chain Armor match the rest of your pack? It just seems out of place to have it left out.

    Quote from MinerGal »
Wow this is amazing ^^ I just love it :tongue.gif: do you plan on doing anything for the chain mail armor? I added that back into the game with the customizable crafting recipes mod and would be great if it looked as good >.>

If not that's good too but wouldn't happen to know where I can find a nicer chain mail than the ones in the game already ^^?

Currently as my understanding goes, it's impossible to obtain chainmail short of mods or hacks. As I've stated before, I really don't use any mods that change the game mechanics, only graphical enhancements. As it is, the iron armor I made actually has a few pieces of chainmail in it, so making a new armor set would require me to modify that to maintain distinction. If Notch ever officially implements chainmail, I'll gladly do this. At this point though, I don't intend to do alternate bits of art for game mods I'm not using. It just gets to be too much work, testing is a pain, and I don't have much of a motivation to do so. The best workaround I can think of is to just copy the iron armor, and rename it to its chainmail equivalent. There'd be no distinction, but it's probably better than nothing.

Only one trouble I have is that the Watch doesnt display correctly, it is totally a blank square and unusable due to this, anyone else having the same problem.

    Quote from DubSkimo »
My watch is invisible when using this pack, and my compass needle is tiny.. anyone else having similar issues/know a fix?

It doesn't work for anybody. This isn't an issue with my texture pack. It's an issue with ALL high resolution texture packs. We all pretty much just have to wait for the HD Fix patcher to be updated. Until then, no watch and a tiny compass needle for all who use texture packs above 16x16.

If anyone wants to use it here's a change for the hurt sound if you're using the female skins. Never uploaded anything to mediafire before so I might I have done it wrong >.>

Thank you! I would've recorded my own, but I don't have a microphone. Notch really needs to make female pain sounds an option. Or at least make a unisex pain sound already.

He he, I just noticed that, despite being abandoned all alone in the middle of nowhere, all the Minecraft guy variants have had time to shave. :wink.gif:
Every time you log off of the game, your character busts out a really sharp piece of flint. :tongue.gif: I'll think about this for the next update.

LOVE the new glass pack - How do I add that to my existing pack?

This is just a simple texture replacement. I don't know enough scripting to allow you to use all 5 kinds in one game. Just select the terrain.png of the type of glass you want, drag it into your minecraft.jar and replace the old one to go with whatever glass type you wish.

    Quote from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. »
I tried to install this but it crashes minecraft. I even deleted the entire ".minecraft" folder so it redownloaded everything. I can launch the vanilla game just fine, once I install this pack I get this message

Please use the patcher listed on the main post. A complete set of instructions on how to install with the patcher for those still having trouble has been posted twice on this forum already. I should probably just add these to the main post.

    Quote from pdmccain »
I HATE the glass, sorry to say, but is there anyway you could post instructions on removing the new glass texture so i have the old glass?

Download the Alternate Glass Pack. Select the glass you want. Copy over the appropriate terrain.png to your minecraft.jar. Done.

    i have some suggestions:
1.change some textures that u didnt changed like clouds, snow.png, rain.png, pumpkin.png, fluff.png and more.......
    2.change the logo..
3.the pack looks woo much strange, try to make it more like the original..
looking forward to the next version!
can u say 2 me when u gonna release it?

    1. Clouds have been changed, it's just a subtle change that adds some mild bits of transparency near edges. Because increasing the pixel edge resolution produces weird 3D glitches on high resolution packs. The rest of those textures are currently unused. As soon as they're put into use, I'll change 'em.
    2. Can't. It's hard coded 3D. I can only change the Mojang logo.
    3. I made this pack because I didn't like the original. If there's something in particular you'd like to see changed, be specific about it and I'll take it into consideration.
As far as releases go. I can work on the pack on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. So all updates will be released anytime between Saturday and Monday for the most part. Some weeks I may not work on it though to take a break. However if there are any major bugs (That are actually an issue with my pack.), I'll try to address those immediately.

To all the compliments and words of praise I say thanks. It's the main drive behind all the recent work I've done on this pack. And while updates may eventually slow down I do plan to support this pack for at least as long as Notch is adding new things to the game. :smile.gif: That said, I also plan to keep on top of every major update to the game.

(So Notch, will there be Christmas Update?)

I just whipped this up real quick if you don't mind adding it to terrain.png yourself. I really don't want to have another set of alternate textures I have to put up to a vote. So if anyone wants this they can use it as they please. :P

I'm having the exact same problem. :SSSS: Help please!

I'm an artist, Jim, not a programmer! :P This is an issue with the HD Texture Fix patcher itself, not my pack, please check the appropriate thread for a possible solution. I'd have no idea how to help you on that. I'd just be pointing to the one fix I've posted twice to get my pack working if the game isn't loading.

    Quote from CreeperDaReeper »
Hey Misa? When your done with this update, would you be willing to make textures for all the mods that require new ones?

I dunno... I really don't use any of those mods or mods in general that change mechanics of the game. And that's a pretty big list of things I'll never use, so I wouldn't really have much of a drive behind doing so. Sorry. :/ The only mods I really use are graphical enhancers with no effect on gameplay.

    Quote from Tallinu »
...I'll definitely be trying this pack out once the HD fix has an option to NOT include BetterGrass...

Every version I've used of the HD texture fix has BetterGrass as an option you have to tick to enable. Dunno if you're using a different patcher altogether or what. I use Xau's 1.1.7 if that helps.

Would you mind telling me where you got the high resolution of the paintings? Ive been looking for them and can not find them, and im making my own 256x256 scheme, and i need the original pictures (or as close to it, the ones you have will probably be perfect!) If i post it i will be sure to give you credit, and it would save me alot of time.

Look at the Paintings section of Minepedia.

Well, back to work I go!
