It's a real shame his progress comes in waves.

It always makes me wonder...if he's quit his job what does he do all day if he's not working on Minecraft? Yes I'm sure he has a life and all that jazz. But weeks of nothing, then suddenly progress in a couple days. It's rather spazztic and no fun at all since I'm just waiting for multiplayer survival. :sad.gif:

The ideas are all really nice.

    But I still want multiplayer.

YOU PROMISED NOTCH YOU PROMISED! Dont be a butt and say all these new fancy features are part of the infinite maps. Just get a good infinite map generator going and get to work on multiplayer please. :sad.gif:

Have Notch get one big server, create a 1:1 scale map using any and all heightmap data he can gather and have spawn points spawn people in their country based on their IP and let it be a free for all. Of course it'd be rather hectic, but thats the fun in it!

This would allow for reddish sun light during sunsets and sunrises.

    What?

Notch, what planet do you live on.

Everyone knows that the sun is ORANGE when it sets. :C
Not all the time. Sometimes its a mix of red, orange, yellow and sometimes purple.

I decide to crank it to har difficulty to fight monsters to mainly get some dynamite.

I go and kill a few creepers, get about 5 gunpowder but then two more come, I widdle one down pretty low but the other one blows up taking them both out and hurting me kinda bad. Then a skeleton comes along to finish me off.

    I didnt save.

Iwould like to see a mod in the future that after a upgrade every texture in game would change to something more modern, until reach a technological age, but only in the far future.
That would actually be pretty cool. But I dont think it would fit with minecrafts theme of being a lone (or group of) miners who do tough labor.

posted a message on Survival MP...
Kinda unrelated but I hope Notch releases an "early" version where its just simply /indev/ (or survival w/e you wanna call it) in multiplayer and not worry about block protection, PVP damage and etc. Just for those of us who want to host a small server with friends and wouldnt have to worry about such things.

Please, everyone, quit it with the impossible projects. >__<
    Nothings impossible.

Get the right heightmaps of a country and recreating it may be doable.

You had to cross a lot of ocean. It's easy enough now, but just think when they are dark and full of creatures...
    Gotta watch out for Cthullu!

Sure there a a few other threads about /infdev/ and if the mods see fit to merge this thread with them so be it.

I decided to put /infdev/ to the test so I walked on the little black line you spawn on for 20 minutes and condensed it down into 5 minutes. I hope you enjoy it. The video ends with me finding the large brick pyramid.

posted a message on Anyone else think the crafting system is "meh"?
It just seems pretty limited to me, not to mention it was confusing at first and when you first thought "I wanna craft something" I wasnt able to figure it out for myself, I had to go to the wiki.

I just think the whole idea of placing ingredients in a specific pattern to get something is kind of weird. But I cant think of another way for crafting to work. Maybe for things like tools you can craft a handle and an axe head separately and when the tool breaks the axe head just comes off and you can go reattach another axehead to the stick since it also doesnt make sense to me for the handle to just shatter and disappear.

This isnt a suggestion thread, just sharing my thoughts on how crafting is done. I think there can be a better way of doing it. Share your ideas. :smile.gif:

posted a message on Notch: Infinitely Deep or Not?
I never supported infinite levels but I say no.

Walking uptop just passing by trees and hills and all sorts of things is pretty cool but when you're digging and mining FOREVER seeing the same ol' caves over and over. It's not so much fun.

But it could be good for having more ore. But really just deeper maps will be fine, not infinite.

Looks pretty nifty, not a fan of the red HUD for inventory. I think it'd be better as gray.
