Okay, try this. First, back-up your saves somewhere outside of .minecraft. Next delete everything in .minecraft. Then install your mods and remember to delete META-INF and read the installation guide. If this doesn't work then try forcing the update by getting MCNostalgia 2.0.1 and tryupdating it to 1.0.0 from MCNostalgia. I hope I helped!
