Mojang is never, ever going to do this, period:
Adding a toggle for 1.8/legacy combat. The team discussed this issue and decided that a toggle is not an option they will be pursuing.

Also, most people do not still play on 1.8, which is almost dead; in fact, there are currently only 12 active servers on 1.8.9 and 207 servers on 1.8.8 - but a whopping 9428, nearly half of all active servers, are on 1.16.5 and nearly all others are on some version of 1.16; even 1.12.2 still has 11 times more servers (most 1.7.10 servers are probably using mods, not because of the combat, and even here what was once the most popular version ever for mods (now 1.12.2) is slowly but surely dying out):

You can even already remove the "1.9 combat" with some simple commands, not even mods or plugins are required:
/give @p diamond_sword{AttributeModifiers:[{AttributeName:"generic.attack_speed",Name:"generic.attack_speed",Amount:999999,Operation:0,UUID:[I;-533998758,-1911206987,-1613020173,1491894617]}]}
https://www.reddit.com/r/MinecraftCommands/comments/hlnp7m/absolute_zero_sword_attack_cooldown/
The same can be done for other things like weapon attack damage (i.e. swords and axes deal the same damage as before 1.9) and armor toughness (set to a very high value so armor effectively acts the same as before 1.9); enchanted golden apples can be made craftable again by adding a custom recipe, maybe even made to give you Regeneration V, but even if a server plugin is needed client-side mods should not be required to undo most if not all changes.
Nor does the game suffer from a lack of popularity; I always love how people claim that the game had a major depression (2016-2018) or revival (2019-2020) when it never did in terms of monthly active players, just steady, continuous growth (the chart seems to show a jump in 2020 but the previous data point was from 2018, while the others are closer together):

I can actually make the 3D bookcases myself. Thanks for sharing the idea though!

I made this in Blender 3D and the rig was created by my friend, SilverC16. Everything else in the scene is made by me. However, I am planning to smooth out the edges on some of the blocks in the final product.
Please tell me your thoughts about this scene and also tell me any suggestions. Thanks!

So anyways, I was walking around on a server until I saw the sun peeking over the peak of a mountain. I thought it looked nice, so I thought I'd share it. I was using my WIP resource pack while taking the picture. That's why the textures are different and the sun is more rounded.
Looks a little bit cinematic, does it?
