I have an idea name for the new RPG world...

    The Anima Gaea

    Anima means Life in latin
Gaea means Earth or Lands in Greek

So what im Getting at is The Life Lands
its up to you guys, just something to consider.
    ~Coco

On principle, I disapprove of using two languages together like that. Also, "Anima" means something more like "Soul", and it's also a noun. (sort of. Latin is odd). You're looking for "Vitae", I believe, and you'd end up with something more like "terra viventum" for "Land of Living". Or something like that. My latin's a tad rusty.

Whilst thinking about this, I came up with something I think is nifty: a server motto! Not strictly necessary, but it may be a nice touch:

Hominem vitae ad terrum. Man is life to the land. It's got the advantage of being pretty basic Latin and thus being pretty easy to figure out .

    I love it.
Ok, so here's what we have for names (we still need one for the world itself)

New Server Name: Crossroads: The Gathering Storm (Courtesy of Lihab)
New Spawn Town Name: Ter Arivel (Courtesy of Kamica)
    New World Name: ???

In related news, I'm going to be typing away at a new thread for the server. It'll be up and running tommorow night (after I get home from work). I'll link to it in the thread, and also ask Dan to change the first post to link to it as well.

Back to the DF name generator, then:

    "Kubukanam" Lanceages
    "Berabod" Earthenstruck
    "Dakasdeler" Colorsteels
    "Mamgozast" Dragonsabre
    "Inodilrom" Gatepeak
"Kar Arkoth" The Dimension of Prophecy
    "Ramul Atho" The Soul Planes
"Nir Akmesh" The Land of Tempest
"Kar Num" The Dimension of Winds
"Kar Zagith" The Dimension of Devils

For whatever reason, it seems to like the "Kar" prefix today. But hey, we could have a theme naming thing going on here. Like so:
Old World: "Kar Zustash", The Dimension of the Ancients
Nether: "Kar Zagith", The Dimension of Devils
Aether (once released): "Kar Num", The Dimension of Winds

New World: Not sure yet, we could use any of these:
"Kar Arkoth", The Dimension of Prophecy
"Kar Anil", The Dimension of Glory
"Kar Olthez" The Dimension of Sorcery
"Kar Tadar" The Dimension of Mortality

Oh yes, and in DF Dwarvish, "Crossroads: The Gathering Storm" doesn't translate 1:1 but is approximated by "Gesultulon Athumtogal" Crossroads The Building Storm (which we can just tell people means "The Gathering Storm".)

I ran Dwarf Fortress and used the random fortress name function a few times. These are a few of my favorites that it came up with:

"Cefira Cerethe" The Cakes of Sculpture

    "Atraislas" Dashedtorch

    "Gusilodgubs" Coppermobs

    "Onuladil" Mirrorwall

    "Tiristod" Rimtunnel

    "Atolavuz" Truemines

    "Atasturdim" Bravetower

    "Gesulzes" Crossbrand

    "Zulbanzes" Bannerbrand

Out of curiosity, I put in a couple names from the old world to see what they were in DF dwarvish:

    Crossroads: Gesultulon

Tierra Divina (changed to The Divine Land): Nabasnir

    And finally:

    "Avusrigoth" Minecraft

Do what you want with those, I guess.

Err.... there won't be any .jar fiddling if you downgrade. Downgrading is removing everything in the bin folder and replacing it with a 1.4 version of it. But your call.

(I'm working on a tool that switches one version with another when run, but it's very rough atm.)

I'd still mess it up, believe me. I'm really quite good at breaking my .jar :/

Bukkit has blatantly stated that they won't be updating any time soon, so we won't be updating any time soon either.
I do encourage that you look back in the thread, as someone posted links on how to downgrade minecraft and get 1.4 again.

I'm not anxious to fiddle with my .jar again after the last time. I forgot to back up my single player saves--you can guess where that went, I'm sure.

Admittedly, I have backups now, but it's still a lot of hassle. If "not anytime soon" turns into more than a week I'll look at a downgrade, for now I'll stick with my lightning and powered rails. Sorry guys.

...Erm, congratulations Tyresias? I hesitate to say it at the risk of sounding insincere. But if anyone deserved it, it was me you, so good job.

Also, I updated to 1.5 already :/ so don't expect me on the server until it's updated.

Oh yes, and a few conclusions I've drawn based on this contest that could be applied to hypothetical future ones:

    -Shorter time limits for entries.
As has been stated, most entries were done well before the half-way mark. I believe mine and Cobalt's were the last finished, and we started ours later than everyone else. I finished mine in a total of 3 days, I believe.

In addition to that, the judging and final conclusion ended up extending the contest another few days, beyond what was originally intended. There's other considerations with that--server borking and Minecraft updating--but the point still stands that judging took longer than initially expected, which should possibly be compensated for in future contests.

    -Grief.
Was not a major issue, as far as I know. There was a few issues, but a conceptual landscape didn't stop any entries from being completed and submitted.

    -Prizes.
The prize in this instance may have been a bit too much. I think the server as a whole is competitive by nature--I certainly have no plans to lose the next contest--which means that something large like giving away free plugin permissions was likely not necessary. I may be speaking only for myself here, though.

All of this is my opinion, of course, so if someone else has a different view of how the contest went...

I think Sekky might have had wood or glowstone donated to him (sorry if i am mistaken). I think thats ok..

I would like to say that i did have wood donated to me, and I paid for the glowstone. Crusader also donated some red flowers for my heart.

Anyway, If i can't vote for myself then I vote for the yellow submarine, because I don't remember who did it.

    That was me :3

Also, as long as everyone else is talking about donations, I had probably upwards of two stacks donated to me from various sources, primarily Cobalt, I think.

Since people appear to be voting, I vote for myself. If self-voting isn't allowed, I vote for Tyresias, because seriously, have you guys seen it? I feel like there's a lot of drama here that might get in the way of a solid entry winning the competition.

I maintain that the submarine is cooler, though.

Hopping on for a moment just to say I'm not dead. I'm not currently able to access a computer that can play minecraft, though. I'll be able to play on sunday.

I'm apologizing in advance for the flood of asshattery not allowing movecraft for everyone is going to catalyze, though. At this point, at least no one can claim you don't invest in the server if you're actually footing the bill for it now.

So yeah. Not dead, kinda missing minecraft and all you guys, be back sunday.

    In-game name: MilestoneTwo
    Age: 15
Time spent playing: 6 months, or so.
    Location: Minnesota, USA
Why you should be added: I get along well with people and have a good feel for building and designing, plus I'm active (2~3 hours a day most days) and have a bit of mod experience.
Additional info: I have redstone chops as well, although don't expect me to make any VLU's. MY past projects include a combination lock and a six-shot semiautomatic cannon.
Email (optional): I'll give it to you ingame if you want if I'm accepted, otherwise I don't want any spam spiders picking it up.

A quick update: bukkit was going to try and update hMod, but the sheer scale of the changes has caused them to decide the optimal course of action is to continue with bukkit. Believe me, this is a good thing; bukkit will allow servers to run more effectively and efficiently than ever. This basically translates to greater reliability and less lag. It almost certainly will be worth the wait.

Unrelated: once bukkit is out, I propose a map reset. Yes, yes, I know. It's the only way to get the new lapis lazuli on the map without expanding it a bunch and will get rid of those ugly chunk errors.
