So you're saying that Linux, which in you have to use the command line a whole lot more is better than Windows? I have a feeling that you've never actually used Linux because you're saying "Linux is brilliant", but Linux itself is not an operating system. You can't download "Linux" and run it, you have to download a Linux distro. Some Linux distros are quite different from others and even someone who liked using Linux in general would not say "Linux is brilliant" because some distros are crap.
Can you tell me why you think Linux is so much superior to Windows? Besides being free there are really no upsides.
I think you may be hanging out with closed-minded people who can't get past the face that Microsoft changed the start screen. Windows 8 isn't much different from Windows 7; the only change in it that I can really see people disliking (Unless you like having your computer boot and shut down slow?) is the start menu. Anyone who dislikes it because of that has either never tried it and thinks it's a much bigger deal than it is or has only tried it for a very short time. Tip: you can right click the bottom left corner of the screen to bring up something that resembles the start menu in Windows 7 and older.

You say that like recoding a game from scratch in a different language is easy. Microsoft wouldn't buy Mojang if they wanted to completely recode Minecraft. They'd just make their own game resembling Minecraft in C#.

That's a blind statement. Apple laptops use the same hardware as any other generic laptop, no matter what operating system is installed. Installing OSX won't suddenly make a laptop "destroy" any other laptop with the same hardware.
In case of the "Oh I said 'in my opinion'" reply, I'm just going to say that the speed of a laptop is not opinion.
I've used both iOS and Android before. I'll agree that iOS doesn't deserve all the hate it gets, but how does Android "suck" compared to it? Both operating systems are quite similar for most tasks (I haven't used iOS 7 or later, so unless it's changed a lot, that is) and in my experience Android is a bit more customizable. (And actually lets you connect your phone to a computer without iTunes, one of the worst pieces of software I have ever used).
For the original question of this topic, no. I don't hate apple. Their products are often overpriced and don't run most of the software I use, so if I had the option of buying one I would probably get something with Windows, but I don't hate their products.

Graphics card power requirements don't actually mean anything. The 300w power supply suggestion for the GT610 doesn't mean that you need a 300w power supply. The GT610 only uses 29w.
OP's processor only has a TDP of 65w, so you should be fine. This is assuming that your power supply actually provides the full 220w though.

Either your internet connection is messing up, your antivirus is blocking Minecraft (might be listed as javaw in your antivirus?) or Mojang's servers aren't working.

Vanilla Minecraft it'll run fine. Shaders should run fine also (with no other mods installed). Just mods (no shaders) depends on the mods. Both shaders and mods will lag no matter what computer you have unless there's only a few mods installed.
