um can we get a mod to take down this post?
    its a troll

FYI, use the exclamation mark icon in the upper-right of any posting to report it to a moderator as "needs attention". That's how they most easily find things other users think need action, not by a simple text posting requesting it.

I'm currently making a Minecraft program that will let you run a server without complicated terminal commands. If anyone here knows applescript/xcode

You could (and have, it seems) write a program to help with the installation and updating of the server files, but interacting with the running server itself isn't likely going to be possible with applescript (I don't believe Mojang has coded in any applescript hooks into the app), and will likely be very hard from an outside (c++/xcode) process. The server launches to its own "shell", and accepts input from there; it doesn't seem to accept signals from an outside process, once the server 'daemon' is running. So in order to get at that 'shell' of commands available to the server, you'll be creating a wrapper program that does accept outside signals, and translates that into the server, and then writing a GUI that communicates with the wrapper?

I dont know if this is the right sections, but if i buy minecraft now while its still in beta will i get the full version when it comes out for free or will i have to buy it again? [...] the website its says i won't.

If you buy the game now while it's in beta you WILL GET the full version for free. If in the future Mojang creates expansion packs for MineCraft ("MineCraft:Spaceship, mining... in space!", or "MineCraft:Heaven, so you have somewhere to go after the Nether"), you'll have to buy them separately.

posted a message on Can't get mobs to spawn in darkroom
Step 1: Check that you're not on Peaceful setting
Step 2: Mobs spawn within 70 blocks of you, but not within 20. So if you're standing in your 15x11 room, no mob will spawn there; you'd need to be at least 20 blocks away.

What do you use to smelt your wood? Don't you need at least one chunk of coal to start with?

Many things can be used as fuel for a Furnace (see the wiki page here). Most notably, wood can be used as a fuel; break a log into four planks, and those four planks can smelt 6 logs into charcoal. Then the charcoal can be used to convert 8 logs apiece into more charcoal.

    posted a message on Seed?
Hey Ya'll, since it's established that when you generate a world, the same seed will generate the same world, but the spawn point can be different (will be on sand, but could be in a different sand patch), if you post a landmark in a particular world, press F3 and note the X,Y,Z location of the feature. This will make it MUCH easier for people trying to re-find your cool feature to know which direction they need to go.

posted a message on I found Herobrine...
I... see... an... itsy-bitsy, teeny-weenie, small and grainy, Minecraft screenie! Seriously; that screenshot is so reduced in size, and saved as a horrible JPEG quality such that you can't even see if your "Herobrine" has white eyes or not. (which, even if it does, is still fake! Nothing you've shown proves you're not on a SMP server with a Herobrine mod, or using a texture pack to make doors look like Herobrine.)

    Quote from cheesebubbles »
@ holy- Well, actaully i have tweeted notch "Do you have a dead brother". I was amazingly suprised after a week of trying that he replied "yes, but he is no longer with us". Herobrine is real.

Then give a link to the twitter post. Which you likely can't, because this NEVER HAPPENED. What did happen is Notch dismissed Herobrine as fake on Twitter, here.

For the record this doesNt work, it automatically prompts u to use a credit or debit card

"Automatic" does not mean "forces you"; if you don't have a PayPal account, you must use a credit/debit card. If you do have a PayPal account (log in with the button on the payment page), you can use your PayPal credit on your account (that you added with the Green Dot Money Pak) to pay for it.

    I'm ashamed to say I run a Mac. I can't do anything on a Mac. :[
    *sadface*

Don't be ashamed to be on a Mac; the file is just in a different location: go to your home folder and then go Library/Application Support/minecraft/minecraft.jar/lang/en_US.lang The minecraft.jar file is a compressed java package, so you'll need to uncompress it, edit the lang file, and re-zip it up again to work.

How do I uncompress it? I.. I just don't get it.

posted a message on A Beginner question
Spiders can climb up walls, and if there's no lip on top, can climb over and drop down inside. All the others can't get past a wall, as long as its solid and at least two blocks high. Make sure there's enough torches inside the walls; hostile mobs only spawn in darkness, and if there's dark areas inside your walls, they can spawn there, already inside your wall.
