Feb 5, 2011There was a tree close to lave lake, not quite in reach of ignition. Then it grew toward the lava lake on its journey from tree to huge tree. Lave now close enough to ignite it. I had the same thing happen in a huge forest biome that I had explored.Posted in: Survival Mode

Initially pirated and decided that the price was defiantly worth it. Plus I wanted to support Notch, we need more developers that can think outside the box. Maybe in future Mojang will support more innovative developers.
Nov 23, 2010Still getting it here. New graphics card as well. So all freshly updated driver old drivers were scrubbed. Reinstalled java as well just to be safe. I would guess it's some problem with either java or minecraft. Guess we gonna have to wait for notch to reproduce and sort it out. /wristPosted in: Legacy Support
Nov 10, 2010Merls posted a message on Can't Play Online Once to Activate Game - Workaround? You could copy your files from home. and place them in the relevant folder at work. No DRM remember. :biggrin.gif:Posted in: Legacy Support
Nov 8, 2010Are you getting artefacts anywhere else?Posted in: Legacy Support
Reinstall all video drivers. If that doesn't help but artefacts are present in the OS or in video or other locations then re installation of the OS could resolve the issue. Of course if error is still present it will be hardware failure (The other possible solution is that it could be due to heat). If it's a laptop your pretty much hosed as replacing the graphics chips on the motherboard will be very expensive (aka buy new laptop is cheaper.). You will need to crack it open and clean out any dust obstructing normal airflow.
Good luck, your going to need it. I would say graphics card is hosed.
Nov 7, 2010Yeah it seems that the game is attempting to save state on crash, but it ends up only saving player location and inventory. Highly frustrating as I was playing fine up until two days ago. I noticed that it's not saving on open inventory like it used to.Posted in: Legacy Support
I have tried reinstalling, update, drivers, java, etc, etc.

I think I heard that Notch needs to fix this properly. Apparently he has been lazy Knows this needs fixing and has just been dodgy around it. Of course I am not Notch but if that is correct then we need to wait for Notch to patch it.
Nov 7, 2010I keep having a game lockup resulting in a black screen (not the one everyone is talking about). I have to kill the Process to remove the window. After doing so I am reverted to last save state, with the exception that my characters location data is the same as time of crash. So if I am inside a tunnel or any other location where I have removed blocks but have not opened inventory or hit esc (updating the save) I will be inside the mountain I was tunnelling though after I reload. Resulting in death and loss of inventory.Posted in: Legacy Support
I have updated reinstalled etc. Happens on existing or new saves.

Nov 7, 2010Posted in: Legacy SupportQuote from unre9istered »I'm trying to figure out if I have the problem the op is describing. I can play a few minutes before my screen goes black. Then when I load the world again nothing I've done is saved but my inventory is the same as when it crashed. Is this the problem everyone else is having or is mine completely different?
I've got that. It's like your character position is saved but all blocks placed or destroyed are reset to last save point.
Results in death lost items if you dug a tunnel and are standing in it without save. I have been hitting esc twice every time I move to a removed block space. Terribly annoying.
OP is getting Black screen on loading, so not the same issue.

also, flood/lavagates, elevators, smashing traps and funny work accidents. :biggrin.gif:
And trapdoors. Kinda off topic here though you should make a thread :wink.gif: But I do like it. Maybe you could place a magnet block under the track to make it boosted. Then have redstone effects EG: on, off, direction. Have all magnet blocks on except the one at the end of travel, all on for two way boost, all off for off.
Nov 5, 2010I could get behind a craftable map that only shows areas you have seen. The basic idea is that your character makes the map as he goes. If you don't have your map on you it doesn't update (and you can't look at it). If you lose your map you have to make another from scratch. Each map part would be limited in size before you need to craft more empty page to draw more map on. You should only be able to have one at a time attempting to craft additional map should result in the main map becoming larger (not filled in of course just more drawing space).Posted in: Suggestions
