Hey there, I was wondering how you "paint over" a map. I can load up any picture or map just fine, but I would like to put an X on it or label where certain things are. Also, when I try to put in text in the map, it asks me to choose a font, but I don't know how. Help is appreciated :D Thanks.

posted a message on Friends can't join my LAN world
There seems to be some misconception here. First, every computer has an IP address. You need to find your IP address, which can be done in many ways. If you type, "What's my IP" into google, it will give it to you. However, that is probably the external IP, and there is also an internal IP which I think you will need for a LAN server because the people trying to connect are within your network.

I am on a Mac, and I like to use the application PortMap, which allows you to open or close specific ports, but I think it is only for Mac. When you open it up the larger IP at the top-center of the window will be your external, or public, IP. The smaller one above it it you internal IP. When you open your Minecraft world to LAN, it gives you those numbers. Ignore the 0s and just take what is after the colon. Now tell your friend the INTERNAL IP (the smaller one in PortMap) and have them type it into direct connect or even add it as a server. Next, tell them to add the colon and what is after it to the end of the IP that they already typed in. That should work if you are hosting the server. Yes, the numbers after the colon change every time you host a LAN server, even if it is on the same world, and I do not know why.

This worked fine for me when my sister on Windows laptop connected to the sever hosted by our Mac desktop computer.

When she tried to host the server, however, I got the "operation timed out" error when I tried to connect. The way we did it is by opening up the start menu and typing in cmd, which should open command prompt. We typed ipconfig into command prompt, which brought up a whole list of stuff. I typed in the IPv4 into direct connect (the IPv4 is one of the listings that comes up when you type ipconfig into command prompt), followed by what come after the colon, and it just took forever to connect and eventually timed out. I am guessing that it is because she was on a laptop or because that was not the right IP. Maybe I needed the internal IP or something like that, but it just took a long time to connect. Later I will just try a bunch of IPs until I find the right one.

Also, I used PortMap to help me host a server, I opened port 25565, but that has nothing to do with the connection error, just letting you know in case you want to host an actual server so people outside of your internet connection can connect.

Let me know if I any of my instruction were unclear, and I will try to help out. I'll let you know if I find the solution.

I was literally just looking on bukkit for something like this. I decided to check up on this thread, with no real hope of finding anything, but BOOM you made a bukkit port. However, I do have a question. What exactly is a bukkit "port?" I found the link on your site and downloaded it, but what do I do after that? It looks the same as the client side mod to me. I just stuck it in the plugins folder, but that I'm betting that's not the right thing to do. Like I said, I can be a bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff. So how does one go about installing the "bukkit port?"

All my mods work in SMP. I dont know who keeps saying otherwise. Where did you hear that?!

I needed a confirmation from the inventor. I have a server that I would like this on, but I suck at installing mods. Also it is on a mac. So I looked through youtube and google to find some kind of tutorial, and all of them were for installing it on singleplayer. Is the only difference that you put the files into a folder in the server instead of the Minecraft folder?

I still think some people can't wrap their heads around the idea of Forge allowing universal mods.

Um yah. My rank here is "Newly Spawned" in case you didn't see, so I actually didn't think that it was a "universal mod." And like I said, all the tutorials I saw were on singleplayer. If somebody knows of a video that tells how to install this on a bukkit server on a mac then could you please post it here?

Or if this was made into a bukkit plugin that wold save time :D For me at least...

AtomicStryker, PLEASE MAKE A MULTIPLAYER VERSION! Bats are my favorite animals and I was so happy when they added them to Minecraft. this mod makes them even more awesome, and I would like to share that awesomeness with my server pals.
