Can we make "logic blocks" out of our tools?
The same sense as Diablo 2 inventory and management, your weapon takes up a unique amount of space.
Blocks should always take up 1 square.
That's basically the idea, yeah.

I don't agree, it would make the game more difficult to play and it would be tedious organizing your items to fit perfectly.
Haha. Well, haters gonna hate I guess.

I would actually agree with this idea. Currently, storage minecarts don't really have a practical use right now, and the inventories we have are big enough that we don't really need to be choosy about what we bring with us. It would add to the survival element of the game if the amount of tools we could carry on us were more limited and we could only bring what was most important. We would need to be more strategic in what we do and we would have to make tough decisions concerning what we used rather than just grinding through the caves. It would give us some incentive to actually use minecarts in our mines and make them serve the purpose they were intended to serve as well.
OS: Vista 64-bit
RAM: 4GB
CPU: Intel Core Duo 2.66GHz
GPU: Gigabyte HD 5770
This game is heavily CPU intensive. I can run Crysis on High/Very High settings with about 20-30 fps. Minecraft usually idles at about 200 fps if I'm just sitting in a room but sometimes when I am outside it drops to 30 fps or lower.
I don't believe you. What resolution do you run Crysis at?
I can run Crysis on max and have absolutely no trouble with Minecraft, that's why I'm asking for your res.
I like this idea, but ONLY if it knocks them back with no damage. Making an incredibly common and easy to get material able to do something like that is a tad... imbalanced.
This.
And if you were on a cliff/scaffolding and someone who can actually throw tossed a snowball at you, you probably would loose your balance somewhat.
Off-Topic, where is your avatar from, Cliff Racer?
Pilaring simply makes building easier.. I'm not saying to remove the pillaring over the grappling hook. Not 5 meters, 5 blocks. Actaully a valley that is 6-8 blocks away... it's better to use the grappling hook and I still think its a good idea.
This would probably end with your inventory getting spammed, maybe if snow dropped them when destroyed by a shovel?
Ye better with shovel. And then you get snow. You can craft snow into snowballs like this:
[] []
[] []
in your inventory (so you don't need a crafting table)
Yeah and this would also work well with the iceboxes that have been mentioned- if you don't ball it up, you can put snow in the icebox to keep things in it chilled.
Eh. It would be easier to simply shrink the inventory. :/
That would also work, but my way prevents someone from carrying 20 swords or TNT, while still allowing you to carry like 2 swords, a bow, and as many arrows and blocks as you would normally be able to do.
Currently, the inventory makes minecarts, beasts of burden, and mass material transit in general unnecessary. I mean, why go back to the mine when you can CARRY IT WITH YOU! It's also quite unrealistic.
I propose a inventory that keeps the same basic structure the current one has, but works in a matter similar to System Shock.
Larger items, like armor and weapons, should take up MULTIPLE SQUARES in the inventory.
Smaller items, like arrows and coal, will remain as stackable as they currently are; but should take up 1-2 SQUARES.
I think the picture explains my idea quite well, and the entire concept is rather self-explanatory.
EDIT: And no, the inventory in System Shock 2 isn't always on your screen- it is toggleable.
another idea about the frostbite is what if you stay to long time out side and freez?
you hearts will one at the time become blue and when you get damage you lose the frozen hearts.
That's a brilliant idea! This would be a very clear way of indicating cold damage. And it would look cool. frozen hearts with icicles on them. They should thaw out again when you get warm, though. They'd just not be heal-able if they were frozen.
I think I suggested the same thing for sickness once... this is beginning to seem like 1-dimensional cellular automata just for calculating health.
But still, I love the frozen heart idea.
There should be a freezing stage, like said. The freezing stage should go a lot slower if you're wearing cloth armor. This would simulate the onset of frostbite.
After the hearts freeze, they should break one by one with a delay. This delay is GREATLY increased if you are wearing cloth armor, and MODERATELY decreased if you're wearing metal armor. This would simulate frostbite destroying the nerves, skin, etc. of the player through damage.
During frostbite, the player should be tinted blue, (Very easy to do from a coding aspect,) to show other players the severity of their frostbite.
Fire should keep people from getting frozen, and slowly warm players who have frostbite. If you are next to a fire, your health wont be lowered anymore by frostbite. Your hearts will stay at what they were when you got to the fire. Food could be eaten during this time to heal.
Sorry I haven't been on lately. I got in trouble, and haven't been allowed on the computer. I still have like 2 days left but I think I'll be able to negotiate.
RATHER IMPORTANT:
Basically, the family computer is the good computer. (Quad Core, Nvidia 9800 GTX+, etc...) That's the one they take away from me. Sometimes I borrow my dad's laptop. When I can't do that, I use the one in my room. However, it doesn't support OpenGL because it uses an intel chipset, (onboard,) and intel ****ed up their Win7 drivers for it, and now hardware acceleration doesn't work on OpenGL, which is something Minecraft looks for before it lets you start the game. I'm planning on building an O.K. (nothing extravagant,) computer to go in my room. Basically, I'm looking for something small that fits in the one shelf on my desk. (the current computer does nicely and that's why I use it.) I've found what I need. I got a motherboard I'm going to order with Nvidia 9400 mobile chipset built in, and it's dual core with 4GB RAM. That'll run MC. (and some fun games CS:S, TF2, and Garry's Mod on mid to lowest settings... etc.)
TL;DR, I have a pretty good gaming computer. I am forced to use the bad one 65% of the time. I am building an O.K. computer for my own use, and it'll be ready in about a month.

I just noticed: Our allies are listed nowhere on this thread or our forum. Should a list be placed somewhere?
That'd make sense.
BUMP.
( I need my post noticed and I still can't get on MC.)
Steams down, and I was gone when Shadowshot tried to tell me... What's the teamspeak we got now?
Holy crap. Stop everything. He may have just figured out the best trap EVER! Let me right this down, the pressure plate makes the TNT go boom when it's stepped on?!
But seriously, if it involves TNT being directly triggered by a pressure plate/ switch, you might as well keep it to yourself.

Exactly.

I don't think they should "just work" magically.
Maybe heat-powered? Lava, fire, stoves, and sunlight could power it.
I like the idea, but I'm neutral right now.

There should only be like a 30-50% chance they'll make it, though. This is realistic and prevents cluster ****s of trees.

The Deus Ex series came after the System Shock series. Both of which are great.

Chairs, sofas, beds, that kind of thing. Maybe iceboxes, with the new snow. It should work like a furnace, except run out A LOT slower.
