I've been needing a server that can change the amount of PermGen and I was wondering if you could do that with the $2/GB plans or if I would have to get a VPS. I know you can with a VPS, but it'd be ideal to do it with the $2/GB one to save money. Also, could I get a test IP to ping to? In the US.
Hello,
You would need a VPS, but we only charge $3 per GB for a VPS.
Below I've listed a few servers and their providers which are under your $80/month max budget, since I can't help you nor can most Minecraft hosts with that budget direct as most Minecraft hosts use only E3 CPU servers. The sites I've linked below are reputable dedicated server companies and are not related to Minecraft.
Since this is a hosting discussion platform, I will politely ask if anyone has any interests in a Best Minecraft Hosts site. This site is the 2.0 of BMH.

I can't believe you would post after that mass PM fail.

Greetings,
So I just found a cool host and a good server........ but yesterday they quickly and silently shut down and now I am in the dark...... again .
I need a new dedicated server and my budget is around $60/month. I can flex a tiny bit up on my budget but max is $80/month right now.
My requirements are 16GB of RAM, 1Gbps (must be above 100mbps), and a Solid State Drive.
Preferred: Above a Core i3. No Dual Cores for the CPU.
If I could get help installing spacebukkit that would be awesome too!
Hey guys. Looking for a nice server host. Looking for 1-10 people, 512mbs ram or 1 gig, and a dedicated IP. Looking to pay like $6 a month. Also needs to be US based, preferably Chicago.
Hello,
Just your luck! All of our servers are in Chicago.
- 1GB RAM
- 50GB Disk Space
- 1 Dedicated IPv4 Address
I am looking for a dedicated server host that will be able to provide a wide range of RAM amounts from at least 16 GB to 64 GB and above. As my server grows, I would like to be able to upgrade the RAM and server plan accordingly. I would like to start off with a smaller plan (maybe around 16 - 32 GB) and once my server reaches its limit upgrade the plan.
I do not have any other requirements regarding CPU or other components, just RAM. However, unmetered traffic would be preferable.
I do not have a specific price range but hopefully well under $200 per month for starters (as I stated, maybe around 16 - 32 GB).
If I got this, I planned on upgrading the ram right away. Is that a good server or should I work on building my own and spending a little bit more money?
Most ISP's will forbid hosting, and that server is not going to be good for MC.

Completely Agree.
All of these are great companies.

Exactly, CentOS uses far more resources than Ubuntu.
The best OS (In my humble opinion) is Debian, followed by Ubuntu for servers. However, on my laptop I rock, Linux MInt.
