I think after this update it would be benificial if notch/other made a post on here with a list of suggestions and people vote for what they would like to see next.
More Communication will make this game shine, No communication and this will be a short lived game that relies on community mods to keep it alive.
I tried that. Sadly haven't gotten attention from Notch yet though:
Unfortunately I don't think it would be feasible to have the resulting block represent the 9 component blocks due to the sheer number of graphics that would be needed. With the dozens of different blocks in the game, someone would have to add literally tens of millions of new graphics to the game to accommodate all possible combinations. So if we were to have this, the shrunken block would just have to be the same generic-looking block regardless of the input.
I think this idea would be cool if you also had some sort of device that let you re-expand the blocks. This would effectively allow you to carry around a house. Whether this is feasible in coding (I would imagine your block configuration could be saved as a code), I don't know for certain, but it could be a cool idea.
I apologize if you didn't feel it was, but I thought it was a good way for people in the thread to show support for what they want to see added to the game.
1) I think there needs to be a cease fire with regards to the "OMG USE SEARCH" until the search function is working again.
2) Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. I can't see anyone opposing this, everyone wants grass and at the moment it can often be a pain to get it to where you want it to be. This would greatly facilitate making gardens.
It sounds like your father's an idiot, so tell him it's in Euros because Euros are the official currency of the internet, and have been designed by Jesus Christ and Al Gore to be even safer than American dollars. EURO$ actually stands for E-commerce Universal Really Original $ (for dollars, of course).
P.S. Why IS Minecraft denominated in euros, anyway? They don't use the euro in Sweden, they use the Swedish krona.
I've gotten my 20 dollars worth already. I've put over 200 hours into Minecraft SMP
I'm sorry I didn't get a good enough look through the posts to notice this one earlier.
I wanted to point out that this topic isn't saying Minecraft isn't a good game in its current form, or that we've been shortchanged. This thread acknowledges Minecraft's enormous potential - there's so much more that could be done to make the game even better, and with the game still in beta (meaning the developers are themselves saying more is to be done), I'm hoping to help shape the direction the game moves in by showing the developers what people want to see (now, if only I can get Notch to notice this topic!).
Minecraft's strongest point is obviously the craft part, but you do bring up a big glaring problem - how exactly do you keep the story moving forward? So far the only challenge I've seen that involved crafting is Falcord's Totemquest, which might be a starting point:
I found this photo while googling and it's intrigued me. I can't figure out what game this is from, even using the website the picture was found on. I'm sure one of you can figure it out in 10 minutes, so I'm issuing the challenge. Thanks folks!
The impression I get from the more modern photos is that the floor of a workshop is probably very dusty - all the stone cutting leaves a lot of chips and dust. Unfortunately everything in Minecraft is so pristine - maybe make the floor gravel?
Aether's one of the top 10 suggestions in the Great 1.4 Suggestion Poll, but it's not getting enough votes! Show your love by voting for it in the poll:
