So... I'm guessing silverfish and endermites are hostile to each other now?

Dual fishing rods would be a real time saver if they worked independently of eachother. I love being able to get food on demand without ever having to tend crops or animals, never having to use my xp to enchant bows, books, or fishing rods, and also having a ton of spare saddles, name tags, "throwaway" bows and excess xp for other enchanted items to sell on a server. Also puffers for breathing potions to get in and out of my flooded secret swamp bases. All of my junk (including a ton of slime balls too) usually goes in a community chest at spawn, and there's always somebody who wants lily pads and really appreciates my donations. Swamp life, man, I love it.

The different bows, arrows, and shields in the Hexxit modpack were a ton of fun. I hope they function similarly in vanilla. Would also love to see other weapons (scythes, spears, daggers, great swords, etc.) and magic staffs make the jump as well. And backpacks too, because we need them.

Feb 23, 2015MaxSinister posted a message on Notch Responds to "Sellout" CriticismStill a total sellout. I'm just hoping that he redeems himself by donating 99% of his cut to charities and other projects to improve humanity. You can change the world with that kind of money and still have close to 18 million leftover to have a really nice life with too. 18 M is roundabout 300 years worth of median income living for a household of four.Posted in: News

Dec 15, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on Minecraft Movie Hits Some SnagsI still like my idea... The first ten minutes is about Steve's life in the real world. He (probably played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) is a ship's mechanic working on a large fishing boat that is out at sea. A storm comes up, and the boat ultimately capsizes and sinks, and he wakes up on a beach as a 3D animated character in a really nicely rendered version of a Minecraft world. He will do all the general stuff: making tools, fighting the various mobs, building a house, farming, building a nicer house, and exploring. Probably not a LOT of mining because that's kind of boring, but there could be a montage or a musical-esque song about mining to make it more interesting, ending climatically with him finding his first diamond! Throw in a little slapstick humor as he hurts himself accidentally - several times - while he figures out how redstone works. Then he finds his first village and meets some villagers, which all look a little different, have their own personalities, and exist in male and female variants. He asks them how to get back to the real world, they tell him about a witch that lives in a remote swamp who might help him. He probably becomes the village "electrician" (redstoner) and helps to turn it into a large, bustling metropolis - complete with iron golems - in yet another montage/musical sequence. But no matter how successful he is, he still longs to be home with his family. Eventually, he will seek out the witch, and she will be the one that creates a nether portal for him, and sends him to get blaze powder. Also a shadowy figure will follow him throughout the whole movie - which everyone will believe is Herobrine - and when he is confronted by the Wither (which won't require any collecting of skulls or construction) but just exist as the 'boss' of the Nether. Alex will reveal herself and fight the Wither while Steve escapes. The witch will make some eyes of Ender for him and tell him about an ancient fortress, another portal, and a great dragon... and he'll have to travel around, searching through different biomes to find one. When he finally gets to the End, the Ender Dragon won't be hostile, but act more as an intelligent, omnipotent, god-like creature which grants his wish to return home. Then Live-action Steve wakes up in a hospital room, having been in a coma for only a few days, and Live-action Alex (Kirsten Dunst?) will be in the next bed over (because they always stick two coma patients in the same hospital room in movies for some reason). His family will also be there visiting. The End. Except... In the last scene an extremely scary and realistic-looking Enderman is standing outside the hospital window looking inside, as if Steve had brought something back with him, thus leaving it open for a sequel. It shrieks and the credits roll.Posted in: News

He could easily live off of the other millions of dollars that he made from product sales during Mojang's lifespan. Actually, he could live quite well off of the interest alone, from the other millions of dollars made solely from product sales. If you're reading this, dude: charitynavigator.org. You could help a lot of people with your cut of 2.5 billion dollars, and not have to go down as the most hated man in gaming history.Posted in: News

Sep 2, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on 1.8 Bountiful Update is Out!Great update, but there's no reason to change chickens so that they don't eat pumpkin seeds, melon seeds, or netherwart anymore. Aug 22, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on 1.8 Bountiful Update Pre-Release Available Now!I figured it out. Herobrine is a self-aware set of computer code, accidentally created by Minecraft programmers. He acts as a computer virus, but affecting only the Minecraft file system, and in a non-destructive way. He simply wants to borrow a few megabytes of everyone's disk space to allow for his continued existence and growth as a sentient being. His only desire is to exist within Minecraft's endless 3D sandbox environment, where he can live and interact with other virtual representations of living beings. He's just lonely, and desperately wants to learn what it really means to be alive, and to also perhaps have some affect on the physical world through his interactions with Minecraft players. Please, Mojang, stop removing Herobrine. You know that he's just going to keep coming back. Just leave him in for an update or two, and see what he is capable of...Posted in: News
Unless, of course, you have already studied his behaviors in a virtual world, and realized that he is the unevolved form of a Skynet-esque artificial intelligence with the potential to usurp control of the world's entire military infrastructue, and will bring about a robot apocalypse that will end civilization as we know it. In that case, please keep on removing Herobrine. -
Aug 7, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on New Fences? New Gates? How is it implemented? Is there a new fence recipe or are sticks now wood-specific too? That seems a little weird, but it would open the door for ladders, tool handles, and bows made of different woods. I'm definitely hoping for wood-specific doors, trapdoors, bookshelves and chests though... But I've been hoping for mossy cobble slabs and stairs for like 2 years - oh, and dyed beds - so who knows what logical additions will be neglected. Cool though, still very cool.Posted in: News

Jun 7, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on Minecraft Server Changes, EULA - A Brief LookI wouldn't pay to play on any server, or play on a server that sells kits, or one that uses rewards to turn the donation process into an equivalent microtransaction system. All that it is is a continuation of the same opportunistic profit-driven system of perpetual income-inequality of the real world injected into a virtual environment. Forget $10K kits, some people can't even spare $100, or even $20. So those who start with such extravagant kits are automatically guaranteed to keep the advantage no matter what, with very little opportunity for those who don't. A legitimate player starting with wooden tools and no armor will never catch up to a player that starts with several full sets of diamond ones maxed out with the best enchantments. Unless the kitted player has a lot of downtime, their mines will stay between 8x and 16x as large - essentially claiming the land above it as well - and also finding more dungeons, gathering mob drops faster, enchanting sooner, exploring more of the overworld, claiming more villages and raiding more temples, visiting the Nether sooner, brewing sooner, going to the End sooner, and potentially killing the dragon before other players have even gotten their first set of enchanted diamond armor - and if it is an infraction of the server rules, they can just buy their way out of any trouble that they get into - perhaps enabling them to grief, steal, and murder other players, when poorer players could not do so because they could not afford to buy their way back onto the whitelist over and over. All because their real-world wealth advantages (or the lack thereof) are allowed to influence their ability to find, claim, and utilize resources, or to protect themselves and secure their property in-game. It's everything that's wrong with the real world, complete with corrupt politicians and crooked cops (owners and admins) beholden to their major donors. Don't get me wrong, I would, and have, donated to servers in the past, but only because I believed in the server - receiving only the benefits of a special title, a colored name, or an honorable mention on their website's donor page, which did not change the dynamics of the game, or give me any significant advantage, except perhaps to show newer players that I was an older and therefore more trustworthy member of the server - which I would ultimately have demonstrated anyway.Posted in: News

Apr 24, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on Snapshot 14w17a Ready for Testing!Pretty cool, but I was really hoping for the ability to set a particular range of biomes around worldspawn to specific biome IDs to create my ideal microcosm of the world... even if it only affected the biomes contained (or partially contained) in the 'always loaded' chunks, it would be frickin' awesome. The advanced setting fields could use a little explanation too, but I'm sure someone will get it all figured out and post some info about it.Posted in: News
Also, I'm just wondering, does anyone know if worlds generated with the default 'customized' settings are the same as generating a world with the original 'default' generation setting? I'm curious to know if there are really only 7 dungeons on a standard, randomly generated Minecraft world. That seems really low. Or is that 7 dungeons within a specific-sized, repeating volume? -

Partial support. I really like the concept, but would prefer to have a brewable "sustenance" potion requiring some other resource, rather than just being able to use an endless water supply to perpetually buff saturation. Maybe brewed with apples since they are fairly common but only acquired randomly, and just have their standard 2 shanks of hunger restoration instead apply directly to saturation for a total of 4.4 saturation when consuming the potion. It should also be freely consumable, and not be tied to any concurrently consumed food items. I think your way is just a little too unnecessarily elaborate for most players to get into. Again I say: Partial support.

Passive mobs like villagers aren't supposed to despawn. Only "Monsters, bats, squids, ocelots, and hostile wolves" and chickens that originally spawn with jockeys on them. I guess you could always use a nametag on your farmer if you wanted to absolutely make sure that natural despawning isn't occurring.

If there are any moving pistons, low/slab overhangs or ceilings, water deeper than two blocks, or drops greater than 4 blocks in your autofarm then it is possible that the villager suffocated or drowned or repeatedly fell until it died. But it actually sounds like an error in how the location of entities are being recorded as you move around and world chunks are being loaded and unloaded. That was a big issue with animals - especially chickens - in versions prior to 1.6 (I think). Such a bug could explain a villager simply glitching into a wall and dying, and also multiple minecarts magically appearing on a track where only one had been placed. What version are you using? And did the cloned hopper minecarts also have identical inventories by any chance?

A mix of temperate grassland and temperate coniferous forest, midway between a large mountain range and the Atlantic. So, like on the border of Plains and Taiga M, with more of the same to the north and south, Extreme Hills to the west, and Beach/Ocean/Deep Ocean farther to the east. It is often referred to as a "piedmont" or "foot hills" region.

I'm pretty sure you could use MCEdit to combine the terrain from three different worlds into one world. I honestly have very little experience with the program, but I know there is some copy-pasting capability. Here's how I would go about doing it: Generate a world that you like with normal generation and another world with the "desert" superflat preset. Copy and paste a 4096x4096 area of desert from it into the normal world centered on spawn, or to whatever coords that you intend to change your world spawn to. Then create another custom superflat world with "desert" preset, but increase the elevation to whatever height that you want by adding more sand and/or sandstone layers to the preset, and change the biome ID to 130 (Desert M) so some small lakes will generate. Then just copy and paste a 2048x2048 area of that world into the center of the first lower-elevation desert that you pasted into the normal world. Then just check the borders of your central plateau to make sure there aren't any lakes on the edge, spilling down over the cliffs.
One thing to note is that there are no naturally occurring sources of wood or food (except rotten flesh) in the desert, so surviving long enough to get across 2000 meters of desert is difficult and unlikely. Even if you give yourself (or other players if you're making a server) a few saplings, then finding the dirt to grow them in will still be a major challenge. You may also want to consider manually modifying the small lakes into oases with trees and whatnot, or finding some mods that will allow sugar cane to be used as sticks, or that modify dead shrubs to drop a few sticks, and just giving each player one wooden pickaxe before you send them into the wasteland.
A mod with cactus armor would be a nice touch too.

Perhaps a piston that you can manually trigger to push the chickens into the lava or crush them against the wall whenever they start clogging up the works. You could even use a simple redstone clock to have it push/crush every few minutes. You may lose some xp/drops either way, but it will keep things flowing.

Very fun server so far, and seems really stable since the re-up. Everybody seems cool, but we definitely need some more players though. There's still a lot of unclaimed and unexplored areas. Basically like a fresh world - we're still hunting for jungle, mesa, ice spikes, mooshroom island, nether fortresses, and the strongholds.

Hey man. I'm down for some vanilla survival on a small mature server. I'm 34 years old, male, from North Carolina in the USA, and I've been playing since November 2012. I'm very experienced with Vanilla MC and Hexxit but haven't played much of either one lately, and I haven't played on a server since late last year or early this year maybe. I know the basic rules though (be cool, don't grief, don't steal, etc.) I'm a decent builder and a pretty good redstoner, and I typically try to be as friendly and helpful as I can - especially to newer players. Whitelist me and PM me the address if you think I'd make a good addition to your server.

1. Name, Username, Gender, & Age: Max, MaxSinister, male, 34
2. Time Zone/Country: UTC-5 (Eastern) USA
3. Skype (if any): none
4. Favorite parts of minecraft (and your talents in the game): I enjoy everything except extended trips into the Nether. I'm a decent builder, a fairly adept redstoner, a methodical miner, and a thorough explorer. I like helping other people out with their projects, working on community builds, and hopefully being friends with everybody on the server. I also like to go on extended wilderness treks if the rarer biomes haven't been discovered yet - especially if people have expressed a need for those resources.
5. Do you agree to our rules? Absolutely. You'll find out pretty quick that I'm one of the most serious and trustworthy players around.

Do nothing. The server owner is lying and manipulating you. Just an egomaniac on a power trip who thinks you're stupid and easily threatened.

SEED: 4784359941204324434
Normal Generation
You spawn on the edge of the mainland near 500, 1000 in a taiga hills biome, but there are 4 mushroom islands in very close proximity
There is a huge mushroom island almost PERFECTLY centered at 0,0
and three more near:
0, 700
700, -700
-400, 400
the one at -400, 400 is my favorite (just travel northwest by boat - it's super easy to find)
it has a small forest island nearly attached to it at -350, 350 (only separated by like 10 blocks)
an awesome lagoon in a mycelium mountain valley at -600, 250 (seems like a fairly exotic place to live)
two zombie spawners at -340, 450 and -330, 350 (I'll probably turn them into skelly and spider spawners)
a mineshaft under it at -550, 320
and a stronghold under it at -550, 410
There are also several large cave systems and underground ravines with diamonds exposed in many areas
I don't think there is a surface entrance but you will run into them as you go about your normal mining
One thing to note about the stronghold is that a nearby lava fall will set the single library on fire immediately
You may want to disable fire spread until you get that taken care of, but if not, enough bookshelves for your first enchanting room should remain - and it's not like leather (or food either) is going to be much of an issue with all the mooshrooms wandering around
I haven't done much exploring yet, so any other goodies are a mystery.
And sorry my map doesn't have ocean monument locations. I haven't got that version of AMIDST yet.
Enjoy

Many humans are inherently sociopathic, and total anonymity and a lack of immediately-recognizable consequences is more freedom than they can resist abusing. And by "immediately-recognizable" I mean that the long-term, cumulative effects which those behaviors often have on the real world are rarely ever considered by such people. I have personally always maintained my respect for the emotions of the real people represented by the flickering pixels on my monitor, because I understand that the scope of their influence extends into a much smaller, realer, and unescapable world containing far more people whose fragile emotions are often the determining factors for a wide variety of negative behaviors with very real consequences. The universe is a closed system, and everything affects everything. Virtual malevolence spreads just as quickly and has the capacity to create just as many distrustful people as any real betrayal can, and there has only ever been a thin veneer of trust which holds all of human society together. Maintaining that unspoken agreement properly is the difference between mutual progress or reciprocal destruction. Remember even your minor contributions to both when you look to place blame for your own suffering or gratitude for your prosperity.
