posted a message on Resource Packs allowing for renamed items to be differently textured (and Attributed) to what they were.

it was late when i posted this, and i think that both ideas would work

Actually, the trouble is that if you had, say, a mace that you wanted in wood, stone, iron, gold, and diamond, then if you renamed a diamond item "Mace" it would look the same as mace.png. So would the stone item "Mace", and so on. With stonesword\mace.png and diamondsword/mace.png, this confusion is eliminated.

posted a message on Is jeb taking Minecraft in the right direction?
    Quote from Swiftlet

I honestly feel like the game is getting worse with each update. I started playing in beta 1.5, and up until beta 1.8 it was constantly getting better. After 1.8, though, it stopped being quite as fun. Worlds were a lot more repetitive, and the only things really getting added and updated were a few extra biomes and the so-called "Roleplaying" additions like potions, enchanting, and anvils. Oh and then there was the mob AI updates (which weren't all that bad, but they weren't great). On top of that, lag has increased immensely and terrain still sucks, and yet everyone is distracted by the new stuff. I can list at least three mods that have been or are going to be incorporated into the game that completely change the overall theme of the game. If I wanted to add stuff like horses, name tags, and all this new redstone stuff, I would add it myself. As it is, though, I don't want playing vanilla to feel like playing with mods. The only thing that I feel the game needs at this point is a satisfactory terrain generator. The current one give the worlds no real identifying features, except in extreme hills biomes, where there are so many odd landforms that it loses all value. so instead of fixing things like lighting and making the terrain actually matter, we get cosmetic stuff, sloppy beaches, and stuff that, honestly, doesn't really belong in vanilla. TL;DR: Minecraft is seriously going in the wrong direction. Not all of us are quite satisfied with shiny new features every few weeks. Sorry for ranting a bit.

Hang on. You just proved minecraft is not perfect. Your logic is this:

SUPPORTERS: Minecraft is going in the right direction.
YOU: Miencraft is not perfect. See, look here.
YOU: Therefore, Minecraft is not going in the right direction.

This is called the strawman's fallacy: equating one statement to another somewhat similar one, and then answering how that's wrong.

posted a message on Resource Packs allowing for renamed items to be differently textured (and Attributed) to what they were.
    Quote from Syline

There's one problem with your suggestion though: so far, you've only specified the name of the item to be retextured, not the type.

So, if I renamed my bow to "longbow", it would get the texture of "longbow.png".
Alright, but what if I renamed some sticks to "longbow"? They would all get the longbow texture too.

You need to find a way to define what type of item can be renamed such to get the special textures and attributes. Possibly, this can happen in the accompanying text file that defines the new attributes. But this leads to a new problem: what if we want two items with the same name?

For example, you may want to be able to rename a iron sword to "halberd", but have a diamond sword version of "halberd" as well. However, we do not have the space for two halberd.png files. This could be solved by using "Iron Halberd" and "Diamond Halberd" respectively, but that would really complicate the naming process when some names require a material prefix and others don't.

No, it wouldn't. Something like ironsword\halberd.png and diamondsword\halberd.png could fix this, so if it is a diamond sword renamed Halberd it will get the diamondsword texture and vice versa.

Nice suggestion, would work well for servers.

I reported it for you. It won't be locked, just moved to where it will be loved, cared for, and feel warm and fuzzy inside :D

    posted a message on infraction
    Quote from Kitsune

Infractions are basically warnings moderators give you when you break a rule. There are two types: formal and informal. A formal infraction counts towards your infraction bar (They can be 1-10 points, depending on how severe the infraction is), an informal doesn't. If you get enough formal infractions, you get suspended for a certain amount of days.

    1 Point No action
2 Points 3 day posting suspension
3 Points 7 day posting suspension
4 Points 7 day posting suspension
5 Points 7 day posting suspension
6 Points 14 day posting suspension
7 Points 14 day posting suspension
8 Points 14 day posting suspension
9 Points 14 day posting suspension
10 Points 30 day posting suspension

Can't remember the rules, aren't blatantly racist comments 10 points, or something like that?

Smoking? As inhaling toxic chemicals artificially machined by giants who use psychology to entice you? Ignore them and don't be their friend. Yes, smoking does kill, and being with them gives you a higher chance of smoking. And no, you cannot quit if you start.

The graphics man.. I still can't believe when I said that graphics are one of the most important thing in a game.. (I was 7-8 about at the time)

Graphics are one of the most important things in a game, which is why Minecraft is so ingenius.

A few rules for making profit:
    • The name "Minecraft" is to be used only secondary, such as Capture the Flag Guide: Minecraft
    • You can't use Minecraft graphics, sounds, videos, etc. You can use similar things or screenshots though.

    did somebody say lego?

    -snip-

That looks really good, similar to the Town Plan themes in the beginning of Lego's long history if they made a new one.
I hope they release another Town Plan, I missed the 50th Anniversary Town Plan set :(

I think the "teleport items" ability with two ender chests is enough of a benefit.

It's a benefit, but by the time you have the resources, this would be a nice surprise—nothing more, nothing less.

    Support.

StalePhish, why would you ever give up on legos? There's so many fellow adults who still build with legos. Take BrickCon for instance, a huge Seattle event with so many AFOLs it's amazing. Some amazing works with 10,000+ pieces are build there, including a power-functions made Jawa Sandcrawler, from Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope.

ok man .. what your thinking is that he is a criminal or has a criminal mind??? i think that's a very closed-minded thinking persons response...no offense

No, I implied that perfect freedom isn't always the best. TSA is purely invasive, unless the 4th amendment is voided, which it's not. We should have freedom from search. However, we should not have freedom to speech against someone, encouraging violent or invasive acts against that person.

Well, you should have someone tell you how to live insofar as criminalized activities. I, personally, am governed by my brain and nothing else.

posted a message on The Mods here...
... the mods here are the best mods on a forum I've ever seen ...

I've never, before joining the MCF, actually appealed an infraction successfully. There's been numerous times when I got the thumbs up from one moderator and then an infraction for the good thing...

After MCF, the same happened. I contacted Raynbow (I think) and asked him/her about why I got that, because I was confused.
A bit later, that infraction was removed.

Kudos to the staff. It's like Apple—they look at so much of the *cough* unmentionable *ahem* in apps that sometimes things go wrong. Accept it, and sometimes they can help you.
    Quote from Raynbow

I'm not even gonna bother with something long, so I'll make it short and to the point

    Moderators aren't perfect.

Moderators can't do everything at once.

    Moderators always make mistakes.

If you got a problem, ask to talk to their forum admin, get it resolved one way or another.

If you keep screwing up on the same thing, read the rules and/or clarify with an admin what can and can't be done.

Simple. Not hard to understand. Mods aren't robots that are programmed to get everything right i think, they are humans who make mistakes. Not to hard of a concept to understand.

Off topic, my actual content is above, but where do you get all those pictures for your avatar?
