posted a message on For the love of god, increase the mob cap!

I LOVE the fact Terraria has done the exact opposite to this. Re-Logic stopped development of the 360 version at the last major stable update, and has insisted they won't be held back by old tech. Their latest trailer for console 1.3 Terraria outright states "Same game and experience whichever platform you choose".

Come ON 4J! Dump the last gen consoles!

No problems from my end - I've encountered two baby slimes since the update, underground, in my world that was created with the amped biomes update.

    Quote from Choras_Den»

i dont know why you folks thing custom draw skins NEVER happen, loads of games allow you to custom your skins, usually in the car racing genre... but Forza, MS OWNED flagship racing game allows for anything to be drawn on your car.. if its offensive and its reported that person gets their hand slapped.

theres absolutely no reason why we cant have a skin editor.

FINALLY, someone over 10 years old whom is able to make a sensible post. The above is exactly what I was thinking.

posted a message on Microsoft or 4j is lying. Which one?

It's time to stop development of the old version, leave it where it is and move on.

I'd like to draw everyone's attention to this post by ReLogic, the creators of Terraria, who have done with that what we all wish would be done with Minecraft:

    http://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/the-path-ahead-major-news-updates-for-console-mobile.47156/

Why can't this just happen? Read it, look at the explanation and tell me it's not the perfect way forward!

    TL;DR

Why not do what ReLogic are doing with Terraria:

    • Simply put, these consoles are 12 years old at this point, and we are running into hardware requirement issues (as some of you saw with Vita): as Terraria has grown over the years, its hardware demands have as well – with 1.3 being a sizeable jumping-off point. This also means that we would likely have to substantially "hold back" current gen possibilities in order to make things work with the "lowest common denominator."
    • So, that being the case and in order to continue to give all users the best Terraria experience, we needed to draw a line here that allows old gen players to have a stable and authentic game experience – even if that means being stopped at 1.2.4 tier content – while also enabling current gen consoles to fully leverage their more current hardware.
    • We explored a few possible approaches to make 1.3 work, but – to be frank – none of them were really acceptable. They required too much in the way of compromising the Terraria console gameplay experience and still left some lingering stability concerns, all while drawing in a rather large amount of resources to make it work at all – resources that we ultimately feel would be better used to push Terraria forward further and faster.

posted a message on Xp farms nerfed?
    Quote from Cire360»

I just finished upgrading my skely farm, and it seems to work very well. The farm consists of 2 skeleton spawners that are almost perfectly spaced so as not to interfere with each other during the spawn process. Most of the hard work was done prior to the upgrade, meaning the caves and surface area were lit up to reduce spawns. I took a total different approach when designing this farm in that I wanted a farm where I didn't have to do anything and could level as high as i wanted.

The first thing I wanted was a way of getting everything I needed back to base without me having to carry it. Second was what other things I wanted within the farm. I chose 3 villagers and setup a potato/carrot farm, since i was in the area might as well put them to work for me, I added the ability to flick a leaver and have the potatoes automatically baked. I'm not a big fan of mixing mob systems and thus chose to remain strictly with the skelys. I chose to add a flower farm which the skelys are kind enough to donate all the bones and thus bonemeal I need to run the flower farm.

I setup a drop system which makes most skeletons die to 1 stone sword (but I don't kill them with swords), instead I have a signal block opening that my 2 dogs nicely managed to bite and kill most skeletons with 1 bite. All the loot is automatically picked up by 2 hoppers sent to a dropper elevator, and then sorted and stored. I've currently allocated 3 double chests to arrows, bones and gear for each type. If they fill up the system will automatically dump a stack, and thus no worries about overfill. Best thing is that I can select anything in the storage area, click a leaver and it will be sent to my base via a ice stream deep below, brought into my base, sorted and stored. I also have separate storage within the farm for potatoes/baked potatoes, carrots, and the 6 different types of flowers that the biome supports.

I'm close enough to the dogs while I work on other things in the farm that the exp flows nicely straight to me, I spent close to 2 hours there the other night making dyes and dying up wool and clay, and got well over 100 levels of exp. I think this is my new favorite farm, I honestly didn't notice any real 'nerf' effects, and I probably couldn't have gotten much more out of the farm if it was built on the PC. The only advantage I could possibly think of is that on PC I could stockpile large numbers of skeletons and kill them off with a couple of splash potions, but truth is I kinda like this way better.

This sounds stunning. I'd love to see a DVR of it in effect :-)

posted a message on Getting new biomes, but what about the new World Generation algorithm?

It is time to leave the older generation behind. It just is. Stunting the growth of X1 Minecraft to be able to squeeze everything into a tiny plot on the 360 is utterly insane.

The newer version is supposed to unleash the games potential, not be a visual marker of how much it's being held back!

The worlds on my bloody smartphone look better, and it's three years old!

In order to grow, X1 MC needs to be it's own thing, not the Navy Seal committing himself to death because he refuses to leave the dying soldier behind.

Please, for the love of God, make this game as great as it could be.

    Regards,

    Mat.

The information above seems spot on. As a starting point, make sure they are signing into Xbox Live using the SAME gamertag as they were on when they built their world.

If you show them these posts, they'll hopefully know what it means if you don't :)

Created a automated wheat farm (prior to the update happening waiting for it). Finally had a new farming villager spawn put him in the wheat field (filling up its inventory with seeds). Watched him harvest crop (went AFC), saved the game and quit for the night then next day farmer just stands around and does nothing. Same thing happened several times with different villagers

Make sure all of this goes into the bug tracker :)

posted a message on Getting new biomes, but what about the new World Generation algorithm?
    Quote from LloydAZ»

The slime finder works perfectly fine with the new update. Slime chunks are numerically calculated based upon the seed, not on the biomes above ground.

To test this, I created a new world and put the seed into the slime chunk finder and low and behold, the slime chunks that the finder showed were indeed slime chunks.

    Fantastic, thank you :)
