They're just so epic.
Medieval, they had no shotguns in that time.
Same here, but as to not get off-topic, I'd prefer me a good, well balanced sword. Doesn't have to be anything special, just able to cut down my enemies with ease.
Someone's a Rangers Apprentice fan (like me) The correct answer is you shot him, and since you never miss, he gets killed.
But seriously, backed up against a cliff, with just a short throwing knife and a heavy knife (saxe) with a bow...its exactly like the scenario Gilan gave to Will and Horace in I believe the second or third book.
A scythe. Definitely a scythe.
That would make my day.
A medieval flail is also a pretty cool weapon...
But I'm not strong enough to wield something that can match a battleaxe. Maybe I'd use a sturdy sword?
Well, I'm talking in terms of looks, not actual combat. If it were to be actual combat, there's not really anything I'd be able to use.
Medevil armour has a nice tendancy to yeild to bolts and arrows. Hurt, yes. Kill, probably. Crossbows/bows would be an excelent choice, if you have the patience.
You win this round.
What if someone swung the sword/battleaxe so hard that it wasent sticking out of them, but it went clean through???
Crossbows and bows are like the snipers of medevil times, they would be at some distance, Im sure.

I would have to go with an Indian Crossbow. One drawback, one arrow, headshot.
