So, I might as well buy a new one?
I was planning on it anyway, just wanted to see if I could save 100 USD or so.

I could have looked up exact parts (which are most likely cheaper and/or refurbished) but I'm lazy.

Also known as "We are trying to emulate Alienware". Sigh.
List Price: $575.21 Price: $549.82
That should cost nowhere near $575.
The processor is only $70
The mobo is, at most ~$75
The 8GB DDR3 is more than likely between $30-40
The HDD is more than likely ~$80-90
The 6450 is only $35-40
The disk drive would only cost around $20
The case more than likely only cost $30-50
The parts new, totaled, is only $385 and that is on the high end, a more realistic price (because they most certainly did not use the most expensive version of the parts I listed) would be $300.
Exchange rate plays a factor here :smile.gif: I am in NZD, the one you posted would cost me only $10 less and then there is shipping costs if I were to get that exact one from that site, so no it would not be cheaper :smile.gif:
Oh yes I know, runs Skyrim and portal on medium/high (modified high with some things slightly lower) with almost no lag, but it isn't actually my card, it is my boy friends and he had promised it to his brother when he upgraded. As with all his computer parts, but now I am on the scene and stealing his parts haha I have a conscious apparently. So his brother is still using a GT240, so I think he is in need of an upgrade :biggrin.gif:
I was going to go with http://www.ascent.co...x?ItemID=394673
this one when I do.

So you got something like this.
Not that cheap after all, performance is entry-level.
A Radeon HD 6450 1GB is entry-level gaming, which means that Minecraft would run fine, but other games may not.
The CPU is really old, about three years old. A better budgeted CPU core would be an A4/A6 or with a dedicated graphics card, a FX-4100 Quad Core.
The motherboard is so old it still has the Nvidia brand name on it.

The computer itself sucks for gaming, that is, I would only recommend for people who only play Minecraft and serf the web, NOT Skyrim, Batlefield 3, or anything like that.
Excellent, I am going to upgrade to the 6870 soon when my budget can afford so. Then I'll do the ram later in the year.
I know it is horrible, I'll get my hands on some cable ties and do a whole clean up when the graphics card goes in :biggrin.gif:
