One of the major bugs with this snapshot makes every entity freeze, making the game unplable...I'm disappointed.... There has to be a b version
Same thing is happening for me. My comp isn't the greatest, but it has always played the game fine before. I think the RAM update is helping with chunk rendering, but it does seem that there is a consistent lag of a second or two every 8-10 seconds. For now, I just learned to swing my sword like crazy when the zombies would suddenly stop moving for a bit. I hope they get this worked out for 1.3 or at least offer updated video settings for those who are experiencing this (i.e. java XMS RAM, fast graphics, OpenGL, etc) because the current methods aren't cutting it.
On a side note, I think I have fallen in love with extreme hills on Large Biomes. There was a large thread earlier about how biomes were lacking. Now, I feel Large Biomes has in a way fixed it. Now that a biome fills half a map, there is so much room to put content in each type of biome. Extreme Hills have some scattered trees, Tiaga has large mountains, not to mention you can find ruins in both desert and jungle now. Though, if they are going to make sandstone villages in desert, I wish they would do something like cobblestone villages in snow. Seems like villages are only limited to plains and desert. At least put them in swamp! ... or are they already?

Oh, even more odd... if it shows that way for some and not others.

I just noticed that myself.

The next thing I usually use gold for is powered rail and sometimes a gold helmet since gold supposedly helps get better enchants.

In terms of using only one type of transport, I would have to say that if they added a ridable buffalo to the game, I would have to ride on one exclusively on principle.

Quite agree! For all those who felt that just because you didn't think Notch was #1 so you ignored the poll completely, now the Egyptian President has the most votes. Did you think he should have won? I saw a dozen or two names in the list that really were influencial, but they had so few votes they didn't stand a chance so I went with who was the best amongst those that had the best odds of winning.
Although, the Egyptian President also seems to have the most "dislikes" (200k+) so I wonder if that will knock him back down on the list. It's always hard to understand what TIME means when they talk about an "influencial" person. Rarely do they mean some kind of Ghandi figure who only does good. Usually it's just whomever got on the news the most or was the most common name on Twitter even if they caused a genocide. In which case, still wouldn't be the Egyptian President haha!

I agree with you, but how often has Time's "most influencial person" really been the correct choice? Case and point, the current person in first place is the Egyptian President. In that way, I'll gladly vote for Notch if it is between those two.

Also the length that a storm lasts should also shorten. When it does rain, I've had it sometimes goes 2 day/night cycles. Rain should go a half of a day or night cycle at most.
Just my opinion

1.3? Wow guess I was really slow on learning about mini-map mods if they were around back that far.

Ahh okay, I get it. Thanks everyone for clarifying that

...wait, on the sand... so when you were higher than 128 sand didn't fall?
If this is true, I need to build a massive sand patch over my friends homes before they update to the latest snapshot!

Because clearly "everyone" doesn't support this idea. I'll do you a favor and do some the math for you. Almost 1600 people have posted on this thread, many of which are in disagreement, but let's just be generous and say that 100% of the replies on this thread come from a unique user and all agree the terrain should be changed.
Mojang announced that they have had over 9 million sales of this game so... 1600/9000000 = .02% ...and that's with rounding up.
So again, you think "everyone" wants this change? I'm not saying that changes wouldn't be good, but let's keep the facts in perspective. I'd be surprised if it is more than 5-10% of players are registered on this site. Most people unfortuantely don't feel any urgency to contribute in these matters because they are content with the way things are. When you add up who is for or against things you cannot discount the silent majority.
