Dec 16, 2011I think your thread title should be the same as your poll title so as not to bait people into clicking on your thread. It has been mentioned, but yes, this really does belong in the suggestions topic. I'm only noting these things because trolls and spammers do these kinds of things so if you are legit, just offering some tips so that you don't get thrown in that category in the future.Posted in: Suggestions
Other than that, of course, I would want this. Pretty sure the majority of the community wants more underwater content and that the dev team knows this. Many would joygasm if they added something as simple as seaweed or seashells.

usaully I just ignore them, but when they become too frequent i reload the map and that usually fixes it.
and to people who say I have a shitty computer.
I play half life 2 on high and at 720p
Even if your computer is awesome, sometimes a graphics card can just totally hate certain games. There are so many combinations of systems and video cards that it is impossible for manufacturers, Sun Microsystems, and Mojang to account for all of them. Unfortunately, there are going to be some folks who just can't seem to get the game to run well, no matter what they do. My comp is 4 years old and runs the game perfectly so disregard the folks complaining about the quality of your computer. It's possible that it is just dumb luck with your computer configuration.
Dec 15, 2011The first time I played minecraft when it turned night. It had me terrified because I had heard so many stories about how crazy it gets at night time and I didn't know what to expect. I was in a tiny dirt hut with a block hole for a window. After a bit, i could see things moving around outside and I didn't know what any of the mobs were or what they did. I could hear them outside. Then a skeleton shot an arrow through the window hole and I about pooped my pants.Posted in: Survival Mode
I stayed in a corner frozen in fear until it turned day.

SECONDLY, do you have any idea at all what bacon is? It's pork. Ergo, I can not consume it, just like I can not consume pork chops.
LOL This totally reminded me of the Simpsons episode where Lisa was eating kosher or vegan and Homer asked her if she was giving up bacon, ham, and pork chops. To which Lisa responded that they all come from the same animal. Then Homer, in disbelief, says, "oh lisa, as if there were some sort of mystical magical animal like that!"Quote from Donmon
Why? Is it forbidden for Jews to eat bread?
Just on the day of Passover. And it's not all bread, just leaven bread (i.e. crackers are okay because there is no yeast). Since there are no crackers in Minecraft, he would have to avoid bread. I think though, he would still be okay to handle wheat for animal breeding.
If only you could eat eggs, since they are part of the passover feast.

Go generate new chunks and you will find alot of animals there, then just breed them = infinite food.
This was my thought. If you killed them all in the area you explored, you need to go to new areas. When those areas render, animals will appear. You can then lure them back to your home with wheat and fence them in and breed them.
IMO chickens are the easiest to breed and get food from.

What render distance are you on?
I remember that far distance randomly crashes.
I'm on 32-bit and since updating to 1.0, it auto-set me to normal distance and says that far distance requires 64-bit.

My computer is 4 years old so it's not always a problem of how awesome your computer is. It could just be a model of graphics card that hates minecraft.Posted in: Survival Mode

I would gladly let Notch add the Aether to the game. I wouldn't even care about money, I would just love the privilege of seeing something I helped create become a part of the actual game.
Unfortunately it seems he's not too keen on the idea. :sad.gif:
I'd feel the same way if I had created a mod and Notch used it!
Though, I think the right thing was done in leaving the Aether as a mod. From your earlier replies I assume you know this too. I do like the general rule Minecraft has done to leave most of these things as optional mods. That way, if you want it, you can have it, but you also aren't forced into it.
Dec 14, 2011Marko413 posted a message on What were you like when you started playing minecraftThis is in the Creative topic, but my first experience was in Survival mode. I had a couple friends always talking about it. I just remember being so terrified about it getting dark that I was intent on building a dirt hut. I didn't have any torches, but luckily nothing spawned in the hut. I had heard enough from friends to already know how to chop trees and make a crafting table and pick.Posted in: Discussion

One of the major bugs with this snapshot makes every entity freeze, making the game unplable... I'm disappointed.... There has to be a b version
Same thing is happening for me. My comp isn't the greatest, but it has always played the game fine before. I think the RAM update is helping with chunk rendering, but it does seem that there is a consistent lag of a second or two every 8-10 seconds. For now, I just learned to swing my sword like crazy when the zombies would suddenly stop moving for a bit. I hope they get this worked out for 1.3 or at least offer updated video settings for those who are experiencing this (i.e. java XMS RAM, fast graphics, OpenGL, etc) because the current methods aren't cutting it.
On a side note, I think I have fallen in love with extreme hills on Large Biomes. There was a large thread earlier about how biomes were lacking. Now, I feel Large Biomes has in a way fixed it. Now that a biome fills half a map, there is so much room to put content in each type of biome. Extreme Hills have some scattered trees, Tiaga has large mountains, not to mention you can find ruins in both desert and jungle now. Though, if they are going to make sandstone villages in desert, I wish they would do something like cobblestone villages in snow. Seems like villages are only limited to plains and desert. At least put them in swamp! ... or are they already?
May 24, 2012Found a pyramid and went to loot it but I landed on the pressure plate and blew up!Posted in: News
Reloaded the map again and was able to loot it. I got 33 bones, 17 rotten flesh, 12 gold bars, and 4 iron bars. There is a single pressure plate in the center of the pit and under it is 9 tnt blocks.

For those having the server jar issue:
- Download the minecraft_server.jar (The Server link in the OP.)
- People usually don't do this: Make a folder called server in the .minecraft directory. DO NOT Put the server jar in the bin folder or make the server folder in the bin folder.
- Put the minecraft_server.jar in ./minecraft/server
- DO NOT PUT THE SERVER JAR IN BIN or MAKE A FOLDER CALLED SERVER IN BIN.
It cannot be stated much more clear than this. I was getting the "it's dead jim" error too and following these steps will fix it.

I guess I wasn't familiar with this problem. What was it? Did wooden slabs make a stone sound when you walked on them? Or did it require a pick to break them?

i agree, this is just cheating
I agree, I'll never touch it.
BUT... thankfully it's optional. I assume these will be turned off by default. If it shuts up the lazy whiners, I'll happily embrace this update.

Am I the only one sick and tired of major terrain changes?
I hope these new changes don't totally change the seed like we saw between 1.7 -> 1.8 -> 1.9PR -> 1.0.
While the changes we used to see from the introduction of survival to 1.7.2 were fine, you can't expect us admins to keep up with all these full-on biome/seed changes. This is getting stupid.
If these new changes only change/tweak the existing terrain, fine. If they *totally* change seeds again like we saw between 1.7 -> 1.8 and even 1.8 -> 1.9PR where nothing major changed but the whole map was different, I will be furious.
You. Need. To. Stop. F**king. With. The. Terrain. PLEASE Add more terrain options, but stop screwing with the defaults. I have no problem with adding some flowers, or minor tweaks, like tall grass and pumpkins. But us server admins seriously need some stability.
Add all the other generators you want (IE Flatmap) but PLEASE finalize the default generator and STOP touching it.. or at the very least, leave the old generators intact so we don't have funky borders on old seeds.
The game is still in development dumbass. If you don't like major game changes, stop playing until the full release happens, then it will mostly be minor tweaks and additions.
Jan 4, 2012That'll be cool if they provide a slider option for how high or low you want the terrain to be. It seems there were plenty of people on both sides that wanted mountains to stay the same, have more trees, or be crazy looking. I am bummed that this means I may have to create a whole new map again =( but hopefully I can keep my current world and just not explore anymore until the update is released.Posted in: News
Dec 2, 2011Marko413 posted a message on Notch Steps Down, Jeb Takes Lead Developer Position for MinecraftIt's not like Notch won't have any say in anything, he just won't be typing the code personally. Think of it like Steve Job's transition. Maybe in this way, the game will get converted from Java to C a whole lot quicker.Posted in: News
Jun 30, 2011Shears and leaves will be handy for folks doing treehouses! Now you don't have to bonemeal trees all over your house and hope they grow properly. You can just plant a forest, chop it down, and then place the leaves however you want! ... assuming they are attached to other leaves or logs :smile.gif:Posted in: News
