posted a message on Hardest Resource To Find
In my latest world, I'm struggling to find Melon Seeds. I'm in a jungle/swamp and have extreme hills next door so Emeralds aren't a problem. There was an abandoned mine under the swamp, but it only had Pumpkin Seeds. Granted, I have so many types of food now, I really don't care about not having melons.

One of the worst I had was when I settled in the middle of extreme hills in large biomes. I explored caves for days until I found 1 diamond.

On average though, I'd say I routinely have to put some effort into Diamond, Gold, one type of plant, and one type of animal. For whatever reason, there always seems to be one animal or plant type I struggle finding.

With the seed generation they always make the seed generate different landforms as if it were a completely different world

Quite the opposite really. The whole purpose behind a "seed" is so that you can share an exact copy of the world you got with someone else.

However, as they make updates to the game, sometimes the terrain generation is effected. Since 1.1 or so I've had great success with a seed that uses my wife's name. At least half of the updates since have causes minor changes, with one or two updates causing a complete reworking (jungle biome, etc). I remade the map with 1.4 (last attempt was 1.2 I think) and it is a whole new map. If I were to do the same seed on my other computer or give it to a friend, it would look exactly the same (assuming you don't have mods that affect terrain generation).

posted a message on Slimes in swamps?
They need to reduce how many spawn in swamps. I made the mistake of setting up camp in a swamp on my new map and it is flippin' annoying. Slimes make up 60% (just a guesstimate) of all mobs at night in the swamp. I'm currently trying to relocate to a nearby jungle in hopes that I don't have to deal with the slime sound anymore.

posted a message on Slimes now spawn in swamps at night
The update with slimes in swamp is fantastic! Just need to lower the spawn rate of them. If you setup camp in a swamp your ear drums will be shattered by that squishy suctioning sound of slimes. Even worse if a slime happens to be in water.

I normally disdain texture packs, but this looks amazing given the theme. Is the texture pack your own or something else because it fits HL very well!

    Ditto what Leokins said.

Methinks you are running a bunch of mods because there are several things I could label as "abnormal" in your screenshot.

I wasn't aware people disliked jungle until I saw this thread. Then again, people will talk about their dislike of diamond tools if you make a thread about it.

explain. how come a the mods such as optifine are updated...but modloader is not? it's probably the easiest mod to update and you had a week of pre-release to do so...and yet you didn't...why is that?

Is is cos you didn't have the time or are you lazy or what?

    please reply

This comment is completely rude and inconsiderate. You do realize the developers don't gain anything by pleasing YOU with these mods. They can wait weeks for all I care, it's their mod and they can do with it as they please. When making these mods is their livlihood and they break promises when they say they will have updates, you are free to complain all you want. Until then, STFU

    posted a message on Caverns!
I almost never support these suggestions, but this idea is fantastic and gets my support! I'd also be in support of a few tweaks to make it work like shrinking abandoned mines (reduce them branching into each other) and variable sizes of the caverns to match the ground height.

Programing wise, I'd think it would be similar to making a ravine. It doesn't have to be as artistic as the OP photos, just a big hole, with a few details like stalagmites/stalagtites and water. If anything, wouldn't the blank space be easier on rendering?

posted a message on The lag in the 1.3 pre-release is literally killing me
I haven't been having lag issues strangely. I keep render distance at normal because I am on a 4-year old 32-bit computer. I don't use mods, texture packs, or optifine if that makes a difference.

Wow, it even got the underwater content for Azshara! That is exciting in the idea that MC normally lacks underwater content so it will be cool to see structures there or STV. I can't wait to download or play on this, it's an awesome project!

posted a message on Large Biomes and why I think they are a great addition.
I LOVE large biomes! I have done large biomes in every map for the last couple months and prefer them every time. Because they are larger, you get more content within that biome so more emeralds in extreme mountains, more pyramids in desert, larger beaches in plains, and as someone else had mentioned, you really do see more villages!

It probably is better left as an option, but it'll always be checked for me.

I love your use of the default texture pack! Too many use Texture Packs as a crutch to excuse their lack of creativity. Sure they can make things look more clean or fluid, but the more rewarding artistic challenge is to make fantastic use of limited resources.

Great job on your buildings, I like them!
